I need to ask a question about MT

I have followed a lot of posts here and there about MT's and the position @ home base stationed. I am a degree seeking medical coder. I'm above average typist, work now full time, carry 13 hrs full time as a student. My grades are A & B's. I've completed all my medical terminology, A & P courses, very knowledgeable about the medical field (past experience and family history). I would like after the first of the year begin transcriping part time on weekends. Not only as an extra income, but also prepare myself with no income during my internship mid summer 2006. I've never transcribed, but I truly believe I am capable of it. Is there anyone out there who can guide me a trial program or tell me how to begin to do this part time? I do have a computer @ home. I'm computer savy as far as getting programs loaded, or prepared and word lists built. Do I need to buy equipment now, or wait till I'm on with a company? I do plan to work from home if at all possible as a coder. I don't think I will have that much of a problem, because I do have 3 yrs. experience in the medical office field already. They go hand in hand, so if I need to go take a transcription course before I do this, I can ask my chair of my dept. to allow 1 extra course this fall to prepare me to All your help would be greatly appreciated.
