have to cook chicken for my BF...the 20-cloves of garlic, is that from Rachel Ray?
Wait, I think it was from the barefoot contessa show, I saw her do that but not in a crockpot.
(We are looking for a place to buy chickens locally as I still believe no animal has to suffer for me, smile!)
Just because I am lazy, is that recipe already posted here, can I do a search to find it?
Thank you everyone!
hoo boy I am still half asleep, "better hope" is what I was trying to say - nm

Sorry...wrong board. I am half asleep here in Calif.

I'll bring the dip and the half and half ;)
Right now, medium, but
Normally I have long nails, but broke a couple so I trimmed them down. I type with the nail tips, not my fingers, when I have long ones :-)
Medium
Just love Medium. Good to see a real woman, strong and intelligent, with normal kids and a husband who really loves her.
I divided 54 lines by $2.50, & got less and 4 cpl. nm

ever heard of a happy medium?
It's the difference between too much control and none. Most of the kids these days have too little - they are obnoxious. The time to "turn your kids loose ON the world" is when they are no longer kids from a parental obligation point of view.
Brats rarely, if ever, turn into *nice* kids - they become adults who have little concern for the rights of others.
You apparently don't mind trying to correct the mistakes other people have made with their kids. That's your prerogative. It just won't work. Most kids are great - don't know why yours are attracted to jerks, but maybe you need to find out.
Cost divided by minutes (sm)
For other things, it would depend on what you were trying to calculate. The next time you need to do this, try using smaller numbers and test your formula, then when you determine the correct formula, calculate whatever it is you're working on.
It is a medium-small company...
but isn't hiring at this time. MTs tend to stay as they are treated with respect as well as paid well. The pay is based on a 65-character line with spaces, an 11-word line or gross line, depending on the account.
I have a couple accounts through a medium-
sized company, but I also have my own private accounts. Cutting out the "middle man" means much more per line. Also, it means I am never out of work. I tried juggling working for 2 companies, and it was a never-ending struggle. They either both gave me too much at the same time, or both would run out of work. Having some 1-doctor accounts of my own (with a much more lenient TAT) has worked very well. When my company accounts run out, I do my private account work.
You're right in that we are only limited by ourselves. Sometimes I tend to push myself to the max and then some. Once in a while I just don't want to do ANY transcription at all for a day or so, but I truly love working on production. Work more...make more!
Oops! Other way around: divided $2.50 by 54 lines!
That's why I got bad grades in h.s. math!
Word "lines" divided by 65
Of course you made out good, you're taking lines that aren't 65 characters long and giving yourself credit for 65 characters. I don't want to sound harsh, but that's cheating.
If you use Word to count the LINES in a document, as one poster mentioned, you get a count of all the lines -- include blank lines, including Dear Dr. SoandSo, Sincerely, -- all those things are counted as lines. They're usually referred to as "gross lines" because it's just the gross number of lines in a document.
But if you calculate "Sincerely," as a 65-character line, I don't want to sound harsh, but that's just cheating. The word "Sincerely," is not 65-characters long.
Your company counts the characters and divides by 65 to come up with the number of 65-character lines.
Eggs come in different-sized cartons. If the store told you a carton of 6 eggs and a carton of 12 eggs was 2 dozen eggs, they'be cheating you. You certainly wouldn't want to pay for 2 dozen eggs, you're only getting 18. So 2 cartons of eggs is not necessarily 2 dozen eggs.
You see what I mean?
Medium to long length acrylics.
I type a little better without them, but not enough to make me want to get rid of them!
I'm an employee at a medium-size MT company...
...I work at home yet I've had to buy my own equipment (computers, references, supplies), and now they want me to start making long-distance phone calls (to clients, the office) and state they will not reimburse me for those any long distance calls I make.
I'm not an IC, I'm an employee. This can't be right can it?
LOL!! Yes they are sizes like small, medium and large - sm
I have a B (medium) and it is very comfortable. I got it when I was 130 pounds and now I'm much larger at 190 and it is still as comfortable. I believe the A was a lot smaller and the C was just huge - felt like I could get lost in it.
In Word, take the character count (with spaces) divided by 65... SM
that will give you an accurate line count, but you'll have to write the character count down for each and every report before you finish and send the report. I put a button on my tool bar that I just clicked to bring up the document counts and then I just kept a log that wrote down job number and character count for each report. Then at the end of the day just add up the characters divide by 65 and you've got your line count for the day. Kind of a hassle, but worth it in the long run.
127 if based on 65-char line (8243 divided by 65 is the formula) nm

Falling asleep...
I don't even need the alarm. I put my head back on the "cushy" part of the chair, tell myself "okay, I need 5 minutes," and I'm out like a light and will wake up 5-6 minutes later! I think the sheer boredom of what we do has a hypnotic effect on some of us and causes this. But you're right, when you wake up you're okay for awhile until the next time, whether it's 1 hour later or 4 or whatever. Glad I'm not the only one.
Sorry about that, guess I was asleep for
that answer.
falling asleep
Yes. I have it also, but mine is a health issue due to not sleeping post laminectomy syndrome. I have found that eating hot chips and/or eating crushed ice really helps. Above all since you are healthy, agree with the others see a doc. Hope this helps in the meantime.
Yep. I was falling asleep sitting up.
I went to the neurologist, and he put me on Provigil. Works pretty good. I'm also switching to an earlier work shift.
I'll be asleep, but the NY one is the ONLY one to watch! :) nm

LOL--Agree. I fall asleep sometimes too..
just nod right off. I go back and listen, and I've always typed it correctly.
45 to 70 minutes, if I don't fall asleep. nm
nm
I actually did fall asleep once, and kept typing.
When I semi-woke up at the end of the report I sent it in without extra proofing...had to do some fancy explaining the next day! Now when I get that way, I take a 20-minute nap (set a timer). It really does help for a couple of hours.
I do the same thing! I have fell asleep at ...sm
my keyboard before. It sucks trying to wake yourself up. I haven't found anything really that helps me that much.
Falling asleep at the keyboard
I wondered if anyone has any tips for me. I have been an MT going on six years. Suddenly, whenever I am typing, I am drifting off to sleep (and somehow still typing?). I have tried background noise, getting up and stretching, walking, drinking, eating so much I've gained weight, nothing works! As soon as I start typing, I relax and can't hold my eyes open. Finally, I take a nap but my line count is really taking a hit. This has gone on for several months. I do not believe it is a health issue - I have always been healthy as a horse. I think it is bordom or lack of mental challenge? I really can't see myself moving on to another career. Help! I need to stay awake! Anyone else have this problem?
falling asleep at the keyboard
Actually, I do. If I am a passenger I cannot stay awake. If I am driving, I realize I am halfway where I am going and cannot remember anything leading up to that point (such as lights, stop signs) like I am on autopilot. Maybe I should see a doctor. I appreciate all the responses.
I only relisten if I was falling asleep while typing. -nm

So true, when I worked inhouse, the doc fell asleep
while dictating and actually continued to dictate while asleep "we packed the leg wound with BBQ sauce and grilled it". The service typed it as such and flagged it. Boy, was doc ever embarrassed. His fault for doing 50 charts at a pop.
My problem with working outside is falling asleep, what with the birds singing, the gentle

Sorry, 'MT way too long,' my post was not meant for you, it was meant for Wow! Sorry!!...nm

20 garlic chicken. sm
At the risk of sounding dumb - are you supposed to use two whole actual things of garlic. Garlic has always confused me. The recipe sounds wonderful but two whole garlic or two segments of one garlic thingy?
I only used 2 segments of one garlic.

i used to work for a company that divided the work types up and i loved it. sm
there were only 4 of us working a major teaching hospital. someone was assigned surgery, different assigned discharges, different admits, etc. we all had the backup work type in case the original assignee wasn't available and were cross trained. it made us much more efficient, ability to get used to dictators, set macros, and in the long run we were all much happier.
I have 20-garlic chicken in right now..YUMMY cant wait for dinner.
x
just put the 20 garlic chicken in the crock pot. Smells GREAT!
