Does anyone work for/know of any companies that are hiring for psych work or any other long reports like memory disorders, or compensations? I have three years working with these and acute care. I would like to find long reports to do all the time.

x most have macros, and the funny thing is that in the summer if one fall of the monkey bars you get a bunch more, or trampoline accidents, get one get half a dozen, love it, never boring!! Hope this helps!!
I absolutely love ER/ED reports.
When I worked at a hospital, we had a rotating schedule on who did those and x-rays. Like poster below, if you don't want them I will take them.
I have a doctor who will sing his reports every once in a while, love it. (nm)

I LOVE typing reports for podiatrists!
My first account was for a practice of 3 podiatrists and I so wish I could find another account like that. I miss it. 
I love those long reports. I think of them as free money.
It's just straight transcribing with no stopping to verify patient or physician information to start a new note. I'll trade you for 1 minute long dictations by a little Russian guy?
I do understand the frustration at the duplication of information. Then again, the copy/paste feature works great at giving more lines for free with no typing. LOL I always thought that if I could find a way to simplify the medical record while still utilizing MTs, I'd be rich.
I do only Op Reports and love it. Great line count too. sm
Everyone is different, although I think you can learn them and you may even like doing them. Give it a shot and good luck!
Been specializing in op reports for 25 years now. You do need to keep up with the medical equipment terms. There is something new every day.

Lucky. I love long reports. I thought I got a good one, but it was a 1.5 minute
report with 12 minutes of dead air. Sit here and do nothing. For free.
Fascinating website for anything GI
I came across this website this afternoon and am completely mesmerized by it. If you have an interest regarding anything gastrointestinal, you'll love it. There are more videoclips and pictures than I've ever seen before - everything from "accessory pancreas in the gastric antrum" all the way to "Zenker's diverticulum", not to mention links to dozens of other GI sites.

LOVE teaching hospitals and long-winded reports. Less ADT time which I'm not paid for.
Hate filling in ADT screens w/ searches just to do a one minute report.

Looking for psychiatric work
I have not come across any companies recently looking for an MT with psychiatric experience. I have found this is my niche after 15 years of transcribing and would love to get back to it. If anyone knows of a company that is hiring, I would appreciate the name or any info. I am exhausted working on 3 different accounts with 3 different programs and would like to just do one type of work again. I am interested in part-time or full-time - doesn't matter, as I am looking at job satisfaction versus line count and pay. Thanks to anyone who can assist me. I have checked the jobseekers board and have found nothing.

I have been doing ortho work for the past 10 years until job was sent to India. I have always wanted to do psyc evaluations. Is there any place to get experience since most job ads require experience. Thanks
psychiatric transcriptionists
Please help! We are a group of psychiatric transcriptions working for a hospital who have been bought out by another hospital. We had no line count or QA. Now the new hospital has QA and wants us to type minimum 1500 lines a day. We type assessments, h/p, progress notes, consults, neuro and psychologicals. We have many foreign docs who ramble on. We also work on Dolby transcription and dictation system. Their medical people are required 1000 lines per day and x-rays 2000 lines. We don't feel like any of us can reach this. Are they asking too much?
Psychiatric transcription
Up until 18 months ago, I worked for a very large hospital system in MI earning 11 cents a line and making about 1500-1700 lpd for everything from SOAP notes to neurosurgical procedures. The system brought in a she-wolf who hired her longtime not-very-bright sidekick and I saw the light and outsourced myself to a national service. Now my former coworkers are making I think 8 cents a line for transcription and 3-4 cents a line for editing on Escription. I'd like to say that if you show the powers that be that you're trying in good faith to make their expected line count, perhaps they'll be willing to negotiate when they see what they're doing to the talent. I wish I could, but that wasn't my experience. I can, however, pray for you--but then, I pray every night for all MTs in the US and Canada.

Resources in learning psychiatric work
I work for a large national and am changing accounts to a psychiatric clinic. I've done a bit of behavioral medicine in the past, but don't have a lot of experience with psychiatric work and would like to brush up on my knowledge before I start with the new account.
Is anyone aware of any resources (books, websites, training classes) out there to help me grasp the psych. basics and terminology? I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Psychiatric transcription - average # of lines/page
I had an interview with a local MT firm that specializes in psychiatric transcription. The pay rate is .05/line for the initial training period (no timeframe given - training ends when owner feels employee is ready to work independently at home - could be 3 months) & .06/line after that. The owner mentioned that reports sometimes average 10-15 pages, but didn't mention how many lines the average page includes.
I'm trying to figure out what my pay would be. During the training period, the owner wants employees to train out of her house (20 miles from where I live/one way). With the price of gas, I'm trying to figure out if this is a good move financially. The psychiatric transcription definitely interests me, but I'm trying to figure out what my pay would be like. I'm guessing that while I'm in training, I won't receive large reports. The employer is supposed to make her decision within the week, so it's not like I've been offered the job. I just want to educate myself as to:
How many lines the average page of psychiatric transcription might have.
Does 10-15 pages sound right for the average psych report?
Does .05/line during training & .06/line after training sound fair. The owner doesn't give out pay raises or paid time off (I would be an employee, not an IC).
Does it sound reasonable to be in training for 3 months & then be able to work from home after that?
Can anyone help me or direct me to where I might be able to figure this out. I'm currently going thru MT training, so I don't currently have MT work experience. I do have 11 years administrative work experience & 7 years technical writing work experience, so I'm pretty proficient on the keyboard.

The MR reports were being filed. Referring physicians/medical care providers reports were not.
This is a hospital radiology department with in-house MTs and a clerk who is in charge of the report distribution.
The two sentence normal reports will balance out the 3 page reports.

the only reason i entertained watching it was because of mark burnett and as usual he has such genious casting and editing. btw, don't know who anything about "metal" music but these performers make me like it. love marty and jd as performers. HATE JESSICA. susie is so nice and so emotional. it seems they all support each other and enjoy each others skills. regarding ty and bob marley, ty was excellent but he also lucked out on the song! bob marley was genious too and his music is very easy to listen to. i don't like 3/4 of what the others are given to sing but their performances make me love the music. dave navarro shines on this show, very gracious for the most part and letting the contestants down easy when they have to leave. he was great last night with brandon (?). sweet, sweet show. i am so impressed with everyone involved.

I tell all my friends to try it -- sit in front of your computer while you have no money to pay your rent and instead do your nails, you get a real buzz down in the pit of your stomach.

Can I ask how you sit there for 8 hours. Lately, I'm having a motivation problem. When I focus, I can rack up the lines, but lately, I get so easily distracted. My mind wanders and I struggle to get my lines. Any tips on how you stay productive who do you work for?? I work for Transcend.
People either love it or hate it. I personally love it
but I know a lot of people say you cannot make any money on it and will not work on it. I do okay. I'm obviously not getting rich but I am making a living. I found it easier than Dictaphone and faster such in downloading and uploading job and you only have to log on one system and not like Dictaphone where you have to log onto the VPN and then log onto the program. It's always worth a try, but yes, the biggest complaint I hear is that no one can make a living and the cpl isn't that great.
I went back in house and love it. I love not being
secluded. I was working in my PJs, less organized and feel much better now that I get up and dress for work and see people (even those in traffic aren't so bad anymore). I find that I have more of a life now, and my family says that I spend more time with them now.
Working at home served its purpose for a long time; I was ready to go out into the world again now that I have no little ones at home.

The arms can be lowered so they won't be in your way, I don't know about the tilt limiter. But I bought my off ebay about 6 years ago and can't do without it. No I do not think you can find another chair that even compares to the aeron, changed my working life completely, no sore back or butt. You won't regret it, but you will if you go for a cheap imitation.

I've never heard of such a thing and I wouldn't want to do it. Just curious. what company is it?

X-ray reports
One of my accounts are beginning to do simple x-ray reports, chest, foot, hand, etc. Anyone have samples as to headings, etc. I have not done them for so long, cannot remember headings such as Exam, Indications, Findings, Diagnosis, etc. They just told me to take what they say and make it "look professional, nice and neat." "As you always do with our reports" they say.

I am going on a job interview and I have to type some ER reports for the skills part of the pre-employment exam. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some examples of them. I have been out of school for a while, and right now I just do surgeries and clinic notes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need this new job so bad, it has great benefits.

Every 3 reports
Now that you mention it, I usually feel the need to break after about 3 reports or so depending on the length, but that sounds about right. I noticed that one day, but I never thought of it again until you mentioned it. I keep a written log myself aside from what the computer keeps, I always have, it is a habit. Anyway, I usually keep my reports documented in groups of 3 or 5.

I just got a new job at a company that services emergency room docs, so I will only be doing ER Reports. I have not had much experience doing them. Are they pretty hard? How should I prepare myself I start Monday?

My secondary account is an ER account, and I love it. They are short and sweet.

Just smile - you're on easy street! Hopefully you will have good software that lets you make your own normals with stop codes. You just jump from spot to spot with lightening speed most of the time.

I have been doing surgeries for 10 years and just love it. I do radiology all day so at night, surgeries are a nice change.

Can someone tell me about how many reports 250
minutes of dictation is? This is for a radiology account.
My company tells us the backlog in minutes and when I ask them about how many reports that is, they can't tell me either.
Just curious and to help me decide how many hours to work also.

I checked archives but didn't find much info - I don't do many op notes, and therefore don't have many reference books. Do you use Google or could you recommend a really good book for me to get? Thank you in advance.

If there is ever on thing worse than a speed demon ESL, it is a speed demon ESL doing labs. Anybody know where to get a good full sample of a completed lab report?

around here it is about 11-12 cpl for a 65 char long line. No reason to charge extra because it is a sleep study.
ER reports
I dont know about you, but I think you need a cast iron constitution. Some of the ED reports I have typed have almost made me sick. But for variety, you can't beat them. Be prepared for a lot of ESL's and docs that dictate all in one breath.
