but of the two I think Katherine is the "whole package". As far as being inconsistent, she's a young amateur, get her in the studio and a couple years experience and I think she'll be pretty darn good. Kelly has greatly improved over the years.

NEVER did my employer in any way imply or threaten or dare even mention that my job was in jeopardy because I could not work immediately following a trifecta of natural disasters! My jaw agape is not at your concern about working, but at your concern that you would lose your job because of it. Companies have to have a heart in some situations. You're one MT, your company won't go under without you working for a week or 2 or 3.

Just hit Alt+Shift+left arrow on line 1 and it will go to the left margin. Otherwise,
you need to use a numbered list style to do it every time. Each version is different, but you may already have a numbered list style in yours that stays at the left margin. Just assign a keyboard shortcut to that style.

My friend's son-in-law works for a large tree-trimming company and was sent down to help out. However, another company that had already been there were held up at gunpoint and had all their power tools and equipment stolen, all their money, watches, etc., so my friend's son-in-law's company said the hell with them and they are calling all their people back home. These are the people who are crying for help and then they turn on the ones who are trying to help them. I would say the hell with them, too.
Kay's the one who said she had no interest
in looking up past polls on the exact topic (that are from "real" individuals!). Or that real individuals had no interest in answering her poll, whatever. I merely suggested that people get tired of answering the same old questions, which is why she's not getting any response.
Why you bagging on me? She asked the question, she didn't like being told to do a little research, it's the same as on the Word board. If you think being honest and offering a suggestion is a smart-butt reply, man, you need to get out more often.

If you would have read the original post, you would know my interest, which is nothing. I was simply asked to check this board out by a number of associates that are MTs and wanted my input as to whether or not I thought there was a resolution to all the issues mentioned here. I simply was making an observation of all the topics. I simply was throwing a few thoughts out there. I simply was trying to make a difference. It seems that the most of the MTs here are not looking for a resolution, but just a place to vent and do nothing else but that. There is an old saying "where there's a will, there's a way". These companies can only get away with what the MTs allow them to get away with. If the American MTs refused to fill in the off-shore work, the company would have no choice but to change their protocol. If the MTs would refuse to fill in VR for low pay, they would have to change that too! Yes, there is always someone with less experience willing to work for less and they too would soon be found out. The MTs here can argue back and forth with me about what I have to say, stating I know nothing of the history, etc., however, any person with half a brain reading here for a short period could see that if you did something about what you are complaining about, instead of allowing it, you just might see a change. I have been helping people get results for many many years and have been very successful. So.... with that being said, I am not the one on the losing end.

I wanted to hear from 'real' individuals. I know that polls are supposedly based on responses from individuals -yet, no interest.

Obviously he is her client, and if she's not typing for him on her time with the company you both work for, there is no conflict of interest.
She is free to type for whomever she wants as long as it is not on company time.
Whatever is going on with the doctor and the company you work for are separate issues.

My CMT lapsed years ago because of lack of interest. sm
in AAMT and the direction it was taking.
I've found that having been a prior CMT is quite enough to get the interest of potential employers. However, it is how well you transcribe NOW that gets you recognition. Your work will speak for itself.
It's up to you if you want to spend the money for the test and the money and precious time to maintain the CEs. For me, it's how well I get the job done now that matters to me and my employer.
IMO, once a CMT, always a CMT, whether active or lapsed. They are just letters, and I have no regrets.
Some bad grammar above, eh?, but you get the picture.
BTW, I was CMT by exam by proctor in the good old days when USA transcription was all-American (and then I became a proctor!)

The band is Fuel and he sang their song "Hemorrhage" a while back on AI. I also heard that there was, in fact, a phone number error on the show Tuesday, where his votes were going to Katherine...this was on a local radio station where I live. Not sure if he's gonna come back or not...have to wait and see I guess!

I didn't read many of them, but it seems you've taken a lot of flack here. I will say that at MDI, they have a doctor on staff that is head of the QA dept. But I expect if you got on there, you'd have a more-than-full-time job, and no time for private practice, though I cannot say for sure. There are benefits to the MTs as we are statutory, but not sure about whether it is offered to those in other capacities. I think there is a group insurance out there for the self-employed, though that is not what I have. I'd be inclined to think you might fare better doing a crash course in coding and go that route, as that can be done from home too. Otherwise, best bet would be to contact the various MTSOs and inquire directly of them, as many here will only bite your head off. Sorry we cannot be of more help. The best to you.

I really wish that America would get it right for once and not base this on "looks" but on talent. Let's be real, seriously Kelly is not that great, she's just a cute Barbie. Katherine is the most talentin IMO in regard to the girls. I really would love to see Chris win it, he is the most talented and not bad looking either!! A total package. Just like Bo last season. He really should have won it. Carrie is just a robotic Barbie now.

A very talented man; dont' fret his life has been changed forever, he will be a very, very rich man, and deserving of it. He is a bald rocker? I cannot get behind that, if you are a rocker you have to have hair. He has such an ego that when Seqrist blurted it out, he was shocked. I feel sorry for his overweight wife and her insecurities. At one point earlier in the AI season, he did a song that he felt was proper, about trying to be loyal to his wife, and all things associated with sudden stardom. You guys take this far to seriously, the American people vote, and we have only been wrong once, when Rubin beat out Clay, I could not believe that, still don't. I was glad to see him go, he needed to be taken down at least a notch. He got too confident, and last week and this week, he got beaten out. Get over it.

I just saw an interview with Chris from AI
on our local Fox news. Everyone was figuring he was going to win and he was supposed to fly home tonight and there were going to parties all over town tomorrow. Anyway, he couldn't get out a complete sentence that didn't have "well you know" in it. Articulate he isn't.
Musically, it should have been Chris.
He was exceptionally talented. I like Elliott and Taylor, too, but Chris was amazing and even Simon knew it. Kat is getting by on being cute. Her voice is weak and she is often out of tune. She can work the camera and that is what many of the young female stars having going for them nowdays, i.e., Brittney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Mediocre talent and sex. That's what they are about. It's a darn shame. I think Kat should go and should have gone a long long time ago.

I remember him from years ago and the Dawson McAlister youth conferences. He was one of the main vocalists. Glad to hear that he has made it big-time.

to you but because you are an optometrist (which is not a medical doctor) you are not qualified to be a MT editor..........unless you can do this for an ophthalmologist. Even then would be qualified? I doubt it. Could you really go through ophtalmology operative reports and correct them. I understand what you are trying to do and its not a bad idea, I just don't think you are going to find anything that you are looking for, much less with benefits.
It kind of reminds me of people I use to get who would apply for jobs and think they could do this because they were a "nurse." I can tell you from experience it doesn't work and they don't have the same grasp of medical terminology that an experienced working MT has. I wish you well though in whatever you do to get that group insurance. That is a big factor in everybody's profession these days. If you can qualify for insurance on your own its so expensive nobody can afford it.
Chris - a suggestion for you (sm)
A better idea might be to see whether there are insurance companies that could use your services and special knowledge to do things like review claims, evaluate medical necessity and quality of services provided, etc. Of course, I'm referring to claims in related to eye care.
Insurance companies utilize nurse-specialists (e.g., neonatal) to review certain types of claims, so I can't see why they wouldn't use someone with your training.
Just an idea.
Unlike a certain MTSO..the big kids don't have any interest in monitoring MT boards.
