I listened. Thanks. But. . . sm

In Reply to: If you haven't heard it already, you gotta listen - sm - I have a new hero - Ray Nagin

As much as he loves his city and his people, which is very obvious, nobody could have predicted that Katrina was going to be this devastating.  Judging from the news reports, the people that stayed behind were, for the majority, the people that had no resources to get out.  The disabled, the ill, the elderly and the poor.

I feel that the capable "idiots" that stayed behind to "ride out the storm" got whatever they deserved.

As far as the poster below saying that the mayor should have organized buses, etc., to get people out of the city, it's a good idea in hindsight, however you don't have months to plan for something like this and New Orleans is not a city of 10,000 people where a 2 day prestorm check of every building could be conducted.

If the mayor had a month to make preparations and knew the exact outcome of the devastation, things may have gone very smooth.  Just as relief efforts may have been immediate.  The devastation is far beyond what anyone expected.

Relief is there now within 4 days. Maybe not soon enough for some, but in a scenario that was beyond predictions such as this, there is a window of time needed to organize and recruit, etc.

This devastation was a very unfortunate act of nature, which is something none of us will ever be able to do anything about except get out if we can.

Even with rising gas prices, please open your dwindling pocketbooks and send even a dollar to the Red Cross for the relief effort.

I wish I could have sent my check 4 days ago, but who knew?

listened to one going....
to the bathroom...took me a second to realize what I was hearing until he flushed the toilet!
You never listened to the dictation to know.

No, decent dictators can form complete sentences.  They don't erase every single word interlaced with ah, um, er, then sit there so long that a 15 minute dictation only has 43 lines.  If a person can't complain about having a bad day to her fellow MTs without getting jumped on, what does that say about your personality?  The only B**** I see here is YOU.

I have only used C-phone too but I have listened to

listen to, and frankly the sound quality wasn't as clear.  But I was listening through my computer speakers, not with headphones, and I was controlling the dictation with my mouse, not a footpedal.

Do you work for MDI-MD?  My account there is C-phone now and getting ready to switch to wav.  Personally I will be glad not to have to worry about long distance and I'm ecstatic about the mobility it will give me - I can take my laptop out on the deck and transcribe on nice days (too much of a hassle to lug the C-phone out there and get it all set up).  I can take my laptop on vacation and access work from wherever I am as long as there is internet access.  Hopefully there will be no adverse effect on the sound quality but I'm willing to trade a little bit of clarity for no LD and increased mobility!

Wouldn't it be nice if there were wireless internet access anywhere you happened to be?  Like you could just take your laptop with you anywhere and get on the internet from ANYWHERE, whether it be in the sticks or a metropolitan city?  I'm sure that is coming one of these days, but it sure would be nice if it were available now!

That was a shock until I listened
to a video by MSN.  Rumor has it that the show was fixed and Chris was going to win it - according to the judges, especially Simon.  In order to prove the rumor was wrong - bye-bye Chris.  Check on the video, it makes you wonder.  Catherine should have been voted off.
Just listened and you were GREAT! (sm)
I voted yesterday so I was glad to able to hear it today. Here's wishing you the best of luck!
yeah, I listened to my doc pee, before I
nm
Have you ever listened to real
dictation? I worked at a place where the MDs could listen in on dictations if they wanted to hear a report that hadn't been transcribed or signed off and available yet. They could NEVER understand what the radiologists were saying, and these were their own patients, so you'd have thought they'd have a clue what to expect them to say.
Have you listened to his original music yet.

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page.  Several songs here he wrote.

When I was on-site I listened to the radio
not loud though, but there were so many other distractions.  Now that I am at home, I enjoy the peace and quiet.  We do not live on a busy street, so it is a nice change of pace for me.
HA! A doc told me he listened to his report once...
and he said he couldn't make out what he was saying! He said, "I don't know how you do it."

And I thought to myself, "Neither do I."

Thank you. I listened through half of my tapes last night.
They didn't have anything in them I hadn't heard of before. I have done some Op reports in the past, but was looking up proper formatting and spelling of equipment terms. I've got Stedman's Surgical terms books, too, so I think I'm going to take the plunge. Now to find a company that's hiring!
Yeah, I've heard of her but never watched or listened to her.
I just wish I could get someone else on board, too.
