even though it doesn't pay as well, but you go through more jobs a day. It saves so much time, especially with the ESL doctors and those doctors who talk 50 miles a minute or sound like they are drunk. It still gets annoying at times though, but not near as time consuming as full transcription.

I have found that when you switch over to other accounts that have a full staff then you have no
work anyway because the main people have the account and if they have had it for awhile it seems the clients like that. Sometimes best to hit a new account when they get it to start from scratch. Many times if an account is full of MTs they wont move you on it.
I'm moving into editing. Since so much transcription is
need editors. I've tested for a company that is paying 6 cpl.
Transcription-Versus-Editing, Particularly RE: Tendinitis
A couple of questions for you editors out there. Is it really worth the "promotion" from Transcriptionist to Editor if you are a very efficient typist who can make $20/hr typing? Also, as someone who is considering this change due to tendinitis, is editing really any easier on your body than high-production transcription? Any input much appreciated.
The range is .70 for Powerscribe editing to 1.40 for regular transcription. sm
I did a lot of research on this last year and again this past June, and that seems to be the norm.
0.70 - 0.90 for Powerscribe editing.
1.10 - 1.40 for regular radiology transcription.
I put together rates from 12 different companies, big and small, radiology only, to come up with these.

I found out a long time ago that there are two kinds of editing.. one is editing MTs work (like QA)
and the other is editing as in VR. I have done VR editing, but when I put down this as experience on a resume, I was asked by the HR person if this meant that I had "edited" other MTs work. I think there is a lot of confusion out there and I wish they would just keep that as QA instead of calling it editing. Just be clear in what you want to edit as most companies that expect you to "edit" other MTs in a QA position do require you have a lot of experience. If you just going for VR editing, which is what Transcend has available and there are a few companies out there doing VR, none of which I think really require much experience as it is easy to learn. Hope I made some sense and it can be pretty confusing on how companies use the term "editing" thus it effects their expectations as far as experience goes.
Full Core means full CPR code.

Editing is the higher skill. I earn more editing SM
because I'm able to produce more--if the company doesn't adjust the way production's figured down and down again to keep the account from going elsewhere (when that happened to me on EditScript with no explanation of why my income was dropping, I went elsewhere also).
Yeah, but full-time lines does not necessarily mean full-time hours, so I would do it if your produc

How about zillions of accounts. MQ has these accounts so overloaded even the new hires dont have any
work. I would love to read some of these reports and then they expect perfect QA and no blanks. Did they lose their minds completely.
Question about Editing for those who do editing
What would you consider to be the average amount of lines a day of editing based on a 65 space line in an 8 hour day. If you can do an average of 1200 straight typing what would be the expectation for a day of editing? What do you think is a fair rate of pay for that editing? Do you know of companies that offer a tiered incentive rate for editing rates to do most of them offer a flat rate for lph? Do you find you make more money, less money or about the same than straight typing? Thanks to anyone who is willing to share this information. Feel free to email if you would rather share by email.
VR editing versus MT editing pay
Greetings,
How does VR editing prod. pay compare to hourly pay ($15) regular QA and constantly being threatened to start being payed production. Are there any special tricks to know to make good money on a VR program? Any companies that have VR and are better than other ones would be appreciated as well. Any and all assistance much appreciated-have to make a change shortly, so looking for a great company that offers ins. benefits. Thanks for your time.
The accounts are old and she keeps her accounts TRUSTING she hired the right MTs
who if in doubt will ask questions regarding reports. No one can find all mistakes in all reports and that is human to have a report with perhaps a typo. You think anyone reads through all the reports of a national company before they get to the hospital? Not a chance. Some random QA is supposed to correct all mistakes? Not hardly. Doctors/dictators make mistakes too. We all do. So do QA people. So the thing is this person hires good people who are trustworthy, the hospital likes the way she does their account and life goes on quite nicely w/o hovering editors/QA people. BTW, who QAs the QA people on your accounts. Ever wonder?
Agree, verbatim transcription equals poor quality transcription.

Know AIM transcription system, never heard of Hull transcription. Are you sure
you are not thinking about DHull who is a recruiter for MDI-FL? They use the AIM system.
Not all accounts are good accounts. One
That should not be the case. Sounds like you need new accountant with strong knowledge of IC deduction. We save a several thousand on what we pay in taxes based on what I can deduct as at home IC, $2000 off the top for what I pay my child to help with office chores, as an example. The measly 7.xx% I pay that an employer would pay is well worth my independence in being my own boss.
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
HA! You are full of it, LOL. (nm)
better to be *full of ourselves* than....nm
Boy you are FULL of it
How the heck did you jump to the assumption that I probably make less than you? Why - because your brother and father are engineers?? I never said I needed another job, I said I wanted one to fill my time and make some extra money. Unless your last name is Gates or Buffet, who wouldn't want to use their natural skills to make extra cash on the side? Grow up.
And if your job is so difficult, how is it you have all this extra time to sit on this forum bashing folks? I never claimed my job was too demanding, but it did take quite a bit more education - initially and always ongoing to keep up with the latest technology - than yours did. I didn't come on this board to start a "My job is harder/better than yours", but my goodness you are the most assumptive and pious person I have ever had the displeasure of being introduced to. And that says a lot considering I work with all men in a computer engineering industry! Maybe you would find your job more rewarding if you spent more time doing it!
Oh but it was nowhere near full.
This is the 2nd time this has happened. Believe me, in the olden days when autotext was all there was I had a WAY bigger file, now it's gone. Not autocorrect, mind you, I use the ESP for that, but the autotext. It just makes life so much easier.
Are you full-time?
I was just wondering how they expect people to get a quota with no work.
Thanks, we already have a used car without full coverage.
The payment's not that big on it, except when there's a mixup at the bank and they deduct one check twice with the same amount and same check number. It just feels like the money mojo magnet is gone from my life this week! LOL Everything seems to go wrong all at once.
Full screen
No, it's not in full screen mode. You're right, though, I was hitting Ctl not Alt for a while. Have tried Alt V and nothing happens.
I did find something in MS Help online, but it requires that I start the machine in Safe Mode. The PC locks up now when I get to the dos program where I would select Safe Mode.
Thanks for all the help. So far I've tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked yet.
I'm about ready to light a match to this machine, I tell ya!!
and aa and jb are my full initials so no need to qa it

Not a warrior, but usually end up doing at least a full day of
work one day or split between the two. There is always tons of work and always out of TAT, but I do it mainly cuz I need the $$.
I'm getting the full picture now. Not...
a pretty picture is it?
$1,100.00 full time

It took 2 full days, but...
I love it!! My hands never ache after I am done typing, and I have increased my speed with this keyboard.
What is the company's full name?

MAN you can tell it's a full moon!

he's so full of psychobabble....sm
In my mind, I have always questioned Phil's degrees, where he got them, if they are legitimate, and all that jazz....he doesn't sound like a true psychologist and I cannot stand the way he speaks to people, except his wife, who he wouldn't dare speak to the way he speaks to others. I think he is a shyster of a *psychologist* IF he is truly a psychologist!!.....
That's for a cut & full highlights though...
I don't know what she would charge for just a hair cut.
Judy CAN be and should be full of herself
Are you full-time?
How many lines do you do a day? I personally think this is very low even for a newbie, but I'm wondering if your accounts are REALLY easy and you have a lot of "normals" (macros) where you can get great line counts in a short period of time. Just my opinion and I'm no expert but I'd say they ARE taking advantage . . . .
Also add someone else is doing full QA on your work.

I would say full time 1,000 to 1,200 per day. nm

Its not me, its my full time job
Its not me being superwoman, I can assure you. My full time job is awesome and the company I work for is everyone's dream come true. My little one takes up a lot of me, don't get me wrong, but I guess I spent a lot of time out doing things where as now I have to be at home with her. My husband and I have opposite work schedules so he's on his own pretty much and I only have to take care of myself and our daughter usually. I just thought someone there is this get rich in your free time job out there in the MT field that I should look into (JOKING!! please don't bash me again!).
Seriously - I am just looking into ways to make money from home while filling up my free time. Computers is what I do so I figured it would be interesting to look into MT. My mistake I think. Sounds like way more work than I wanted to do.
You are just full of compliments.
You should examine yourself in the mirror. "Look like a slob while you work"? How do you know what people look like when they work? Do you have a cam? I am no newbie, but I feel for the MTs you do QA work for as you are pretty tough! Have a and get out more often! Have a great day, my goodness.
Full audio QA
If you do this, then they need to pay you QA pay in addition to line count pay.
Yes, Full-time.
I work 40 hours a week for 1 company. I also have an IC job on the side to help with some money, but everytime I have logged on in the last month, there has been no work.
I do see my lines starting to come up, but am still only hitting 100 lines on average which is only $6.50 an hour. Not a livable wage by any means. That barely covers my rent each month.
I also have gotten out of MT full time
So I only work doing transcription part time.
I think you're full of it.
Full-time IC?
Full-time IC is a term that seems contradictory to me. I thought an IC was expected to have more than one "client", at least per IRS expectations, so how does an MTSO get away with requiring an MT's undivided attention as an IC? It seems that MTSOs have a different set of rules....and we are the ones who allow it.
Has anyone out there addressed this issue with either a potential client and/or the IRS? If so, what was the outcome? I'm thinking of filing a complaint and just need some feedback to determine if it is worth my time and energy.
TIA.
Does anyone do editing for VR?
If so can you provide some insight as compared to transcription?
Thanks
editing vr
I do and I love it. I was doing 1500-1800 lines per day, now am doing between 3-4000. Pay is less, but not that much and so much less stress and strain on these old hands and wrists. Would never go back to straight typing.
Editing pay
I just starting working as an IC with a company in Chicago, IL. They are paying me 4 cents a line to do editing, and 9 cents a line for straight type. The account I am on uses voice recognition software (not sure if it is Dragon), and the program has difficulty with some of the doctors' accents, so their dictation comes through regularly. I like doing this very much, as it has helped me bone up on my grammar skills. Usually what I type just "goes out there", back to them, and I never see any response on whether or not my grammar and punctuation were correct. Being an Editor has helped me greatly. Do others have this same feeling as I do?
editing
I didn't take the offer. I am really having a lot of mixed feelings over this. Frankly I think that is where it is "all going" but I don't want to be the one to stamp and seal it. Just bothered me a LOT.
editing
I just quit my secure job of 15 years because in the past year, they have taken transcription away from all 100 of us and are making us edit the voice recognition system. I was making $15.00 per hour. I hated sitting here, cleaning up the mess that the EditScript program made with the dictations. It's just my humble opinion, but I'd want you to be absolutely sure you want to edit before you accept the job.
editing
Good luck, Kay. Not everybody hates it. You might actually like it. :) Maybe if I hadn't been a Transcriptionist for so long, it wouldn't have been such a change and shock to my system. I tried it for a year and just did not enjoy it. I felt like I was an assembly line worker, like all my years of knowledge, accuracy, and speed were thrown out the window. That's why I quit and took a job with an online transcription company, because I want to retain my speed and knowledge. But if you try the editing and like it, then you should definitely write on this forum and tell everybody, as I am just speaking for myself. You should be happy in whatever you do. :)
