My private offices get a beautiful basket of food every winter holiday season and my supervisor at a national I moonlight for on weekends gets a gift to the home with sweets for the family/kids.....

There's an e-mail going around that says something about the FBI or CIA following your web sites. This is a virus e-mail, so anything that looks close to this should be deleted without opening to save havoc with your computer. So be careful here....one virus can kill a paycheck.

My son wanted to do this and I agreed to it. Even though it is very time consuming, but at the same time it is full of rewards.

I am preapproved for a loan but the payments scare me. I've never owned a home on my own before. I'm also cashing in my small 401k to use for it. I'm young yet, under 35, and know that that is not the smartest of ideas, but my NOT-darling, boyfriend, father of my youngest (2) (have 3 total) is prone to violent behavior. I've put up with his rantings for 3 years, NOT anymore. If I can just get through the next couple weeks .......the house is empty.....so hoping if things go okay, I can move in, maybe before closing. PRAY for me!

I have to admit that I was (and still am) an RN first. With all of its difficulties, I have to admit that I would prefer to be an MT than return to that extremely stressful situation of RN bedside nurse. The one good thing that I can say with regards to nursing is that the pay seems to be really good, though, and it does not seem difficult for a new grad to find a good niche in which to begin working. One piece of advice that I give is to work towards a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and possibly move on towards a Masters degree or even a PHD, before you are 50. Find a job that you can continue to do until older age, when your body may no longer be up to the physical stress required for direct patient care (especially when it includes lifting, turning the patient, etc.) Get into a specialty where you can use your brain more than your muscles. If you are not already doing so, get into an exercise program and take good care of your musculoskeletal system. If I were not almost geriatric, I would take my own advice. My big mistake was starting out with an Associate Degree and not continuing my nursing education. Believe it or not, I cannot even get a job in a doctor's office, as they prefer LPNs. I even called my state board of nursing and asked if I could get an LPN license by just being an RN and taking the LPN exam. They told me that I would have to complete an LPN training program first, which I am not inclined to do. I know it was a strange question to ask them, but I had to ask...Best to you..
Like it or not, she is a legal adult and can do what she wishes.
You can tell her your opinions, but you really have no control over this. Just as you wouldn't want someone forcing you to have an abortion because they believe it's right, she likely doesn't want you trying to force her to keep it because it's what you think is right.
All you can do is be there for her if/when she needs you. Yeah, it may stink that her beliefs are not the same as yours, but there's nothing you can do about.

Can anyone tell me the best company to work for if one wishes to do only do op notes...sm
I have 30 years experience in MT work and for the last few years have been able to do exclusively operative notes which is what I love. I have been very happy with current company but have to start my work day early in the a.m. and now my account has been overstaffed to the point there is no work in the morning. While there is plenty of work late in the day, there is nothing in the morning and so I feel I must look for another company for at least part time op work initially and if it works out I could go full time. i live in MA and $1200-$1400 a month is what good health insurance costs, ie $20-$40 copays. it was just passed into law that if you live in MA you have to have medical insurance so without being self-employed, you can go right to BCBS etc and get a plan directly from the major health insurace companies, but for a family plan and a decent income bracket, forget it. the prices are outragous. right now my husband pays $120 a week for family plan and this is after his employer pays 30% of the total cost. we have $20 copays, but we have a $2000 individual deductable per year with a $4000 family deductible cap. so when my daughther needed her tonsils out, $2000 and when my son broke his arm, $2000. someone on this board has to be able to tell you what they pay for insurance through their company as an employee. good luck.

 That my cat is doing much better than a few days ago. He's eating food, and I saw him drinking today.  I've been giving him subcu fluid for the last couple days. We are moving to Nebraska on the 6th, so I hope the trip isn't too stressful for him.

He says he wants to make things better and that he loves me. I have not told him that I love him since he hit me in the eye two weeks ago and he has noticed. I think he realizes that I am tired of all the nonsense and that this could go either way right now depending on his behavior. I am strong, but I just have to believe in myself. I wound up going for computer programming. Hated that. Loved typing and computers but hated the programming end of it, so went into accounting. Me....who flunked math in school, but it challenged me and I was good but not enough typing for me. Then did typing for a book company...got bored. Now I'm an MT. What a life!

It is a blessing to have this site to go to where there are others who truly understand the pain/abuse we take/put up with. Only another MT could possibly understand what it is like at times.
I also wanted to add this ...
Many may actually know the terminology but make mistakes in their transcription or typos. Still, it is incorrect and it cannot be accepted.
Hearing correctly is one thing; transcribing it correctly to the document is another.
I think many errors happen on the transcription phase, not the hearing/understanding phase.

and as an IC i had every right to, but I stuck to my 24 hour TAT for seven years unless I was sick... i NEVER did vacations, I Never took time off... EVER. Now i'm kicking myself for it since after 7 years they have betrayed me.

I wanted to add that I do work someplace else also because I don't believe in this industry you can put all your eggs in one basket but I do think Transcend is a nice place to work overall.

 that I welcome corrections from QA's who make corrections that are legitimate, a mis-spelling, wrong term, wrong word, that sort of thing. I actually look forward to feedback when I get a particularly tough dictator and had to send it in with blanks so I can see if the QA was able to make sense of it so I will have a better chance of getting it next time. I appreciate your help in making me a better MT. The QA's that I have a problem with are the one's that send my stuff back with "corrections" that are not really corrections, things that would not impact the document in the least. It is silly, anal, and just makes everyone's job harder. I just wanted to put that out there because it sounds like from the posts that there are a few good QA's out there that just want to do their job and help us get better as opposed to nit-picking every little, tiny, miniscule thing they can find. I also especially appreciate the QA's that just give the feedback or explain why the feedback-not the ones with attitude and arrogance and nasty remarks. Those are the people that need to change jobs, because they are not helping anyone.
