Is there no scavenger hunt post
again until this weekend... am I reading the post from the admin right from above? My brain is so completely fried that I just wanted to get a second opinion on this before I waste any time looking.
Well, that is out. I just opened a post sm
with no emoticon and it definitely went "wahoo".
This could very well have been the hidden Scavenger Hunt post!

This doc keeps blowing wind/nose hairs/boogers out his nose - into the microsphone - and
sounds cool, huh?
I am physically nauseated! 3 hours of this. gag
Add to that he can't say *our* alphabet so even though the hospital THINKS the docs are spelling the names, he wasted his time and mine. and when I get it wrong -- until I get the hospital to listen --- they will think I'm the *blank* one. (the board stopped me from posting/ said stup*d is not allowed here so you know what I'm saying - isn't that odd, I can't refer to my own self as that, hmmm)
He can't say NUMBERS. Getting the drug doses is a joke. Even the names of the drugs is like mystery science.
He says wrong months, days of the week. If he's meaning to say May, he may say April.
If he's meaning to say 17 he may say 15.
You can hear the disdain in his voice when he dictates on women - I guess in his world there truly is no respect for women and you can really hear it when he's doing the dictation.
But the constant blowing - and clearing his throat - trying to dislodge that tickling nose hair I guess and slurping that yucky saliva has me just about ready to quit transcribing RIGHT NOW. .
Today I did make myself a promise. I have been a good girl for 30+ years, held my anger deep in my ugly Wal-Mart pocketbooks. When I retire in January and I know I will never have to turn on another computer or transcribe another medical dictation............I'm gonna go to the hospital ......maybe go sit in on GRAND ROUNDS FOR THE LAST TIME.......and BLAST THEM. I'll do it or bust a gasket. Just watch me.
Did anyone find the post for the scavenger hunt today? Was there one?

Was gonna post, then decided not to. Opened
my door, went outside to water my petunias. Went to turn on the water and uncoil the black hose, and there was A HUGE SNAKE COILED IN WITH THE HOSE!! AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It did not move - it had a fly walking on its back, and I PRAISED THE LORD THAT IT WAS DEAD!! DEAD SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not as bad as a living snake. As I was going to poke it with a stick to fling it, my daughter screamed - ITS NOT DEAD!!!! ITS JUST SUN BATHING. I looked and looked, and it sure looked dead. IT WAS NOT.................................. It was about 3 feet long, which will probably morph into 8 feet by the end of the week as I tell my tale!! It was HORRIBLE. I live in NJ, and moved to a new area a few years back. Never saw a snake, a tick, or a black widow spider in my LIFE. Now they are everywhere. I laughed at the posts to call animal control. If you live in an area with snakes and the like, they LAUGH at you. Believe me, I know. I actually called the POLICE when I found my first bonafide black widow spider guarding her nest. She ATTACKED US!! They are actually aggressive when by an egg sac. Turns out they are everywhere in this 1 section of NJ - brought in via immigrants, per the Health Dept. So, I feel your pain!! I wouldn't kill them either. Killed a 2 foot rat about a year ago, and still feel bad. The thing lived under my fridge. HORRIBLE. One night the thing ate a 12 pack of English Muffins. Anyhoooooooooooooooooooooooooo....I can relate!! My only advice - RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that was just plain ugly, sorry I read that post (NM)
xx
I meant it in a good way, and I will not turn this into a huge ugly post.
I am not a "paranoid mass of jelly", for Heaven's sakes! But I have lived thru having neighbor children try to poison my puppies over our fence in similar circumstances - not identical, but similar. These same kids used to stuff picked flowers in my mailbox, and I never knew how to take it. I just asked that she be extra cautious. Obviously you ladies have been blessed with not being confronted in life with strange "encounters" like this - I have, and have tried to learn from it. There used to be no more trusting person than myself. I have learned, though, to be cautious in situations like this - not paranoid, just cautious. Wisdom, some would call it? For what its worth, my sister is a psychiatrist, and she thought the flowers creepy as well, but in a different analytical light - with her mother's and sibling(s) death of late, and her expressing that she wanted the puppy killed, to my sister, she said they could be symbolic of flowers on a grave. Not paranoid - she's nearly 60 years old and deals with school-aged kids on a daily basis. Her "job", so to speak. Again, probably a 100% innocent gesture, but to those of us who have had encounters with the "children from H*ll", it could be eery. My post was meant out of genuine concern for Puppy Mom!
Disney thread still on this page down under the ugly names post. nm

I just opened Word, opened the template and saved it as a Word template. nm
There are good points and there are bad and ugly points. Unfortunately, the bad and ugly get
deleted. Just the other day there was info and it seems to be more positive. Like any MT job, some love it, some hate it. But, having been employed there, the bad parts are/were true. The changes sound great but not great enough to make me change my mind about working for them. I do say she pays well for the area. She is one of the rare business owners who actually started out as an MT..I think that makes a big difference in pay.
you hit it right on the nose. I was sm
doing MT when AAMT came to be. I remember at the time, they would "grandfather" you in if you had five years experience (I had only three I think) in any kind of transcription. There were folks being "certified" who had done nothing but radiology or pathology their whole careers. I haven't been in AAMT for years but don't they now have certification for just radiology separately or something? Anyway, these folks were going around with the "certified" stamp and could not do one iota of acute care transcription. I took the test to be certified. Kept the certification for about 12 years and dumped it. All it is, is a money making venture to benefit AAMT. They do nothing for MTs far as I am concerned. As far as hiring a "CMT" I would take a more experienced MT w/o certification before I would take someone with less experience with certification. I think AAMT needs to be buried too!
Now its like the hunt is on ....

BLOW YOUR NOSE....PLEASE!!
I am about to lose my mind. If this dictator could just blow her nose and stop sucking snot. Can't help having a cold, but even my children would BLOW THEIR NOSE. Then maybe she could stop choking on phlegm. A little consideration, PLEASE!
Hunt Group
I have a 16-port digital server and need a hunt group for it. I asked my local telephone service provider, and was told they have no idea what I am talking about. I need this server set up right now! Where do I get a hunt group? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Please email me. Thanks in advance. Molly
Hunt Group
Sorry Molly, I would think maybe you could ask a computer expert? Never heard of this.
Re: Hunt Group
My understanding is that a hunt group is a series of phone numbers and/or extensions that create "rollover" so physicians never get a busy signal when they call in to the system. Maybe I was misinformed, but I was told the phone company would have to set this up. If it is a computer set up instead, then back to square one. Surely someone out there has set up one of these machines??? It's not rocket science. This is supposed to be simple. Thanks, Molly
Oh I have one of those too. I just want to say BLOW YOUR NOSE!!!
Scavenger hunt
I found it!!!!!
Scavenger Hunt
Okay, I'm new to this. What are you looking for in the scavenger hunt? When I remember to check I have usually missed it completely. Thanks.
update on my job hunt
ok ladies, I applied for a job at a hospital as a medical Transcriptionist (job was listed on their website and at the employment agency) I updated my resume, typed up a cover letter and hand delivered it to the HR person. She said she would put it in their system and I would be hearing from them, the job is open until filled. Great! I completed their lengthy application and sent that it to the same HR person. I did not hear anything and assumed with the holidays and all......patience...
Yesterday I received a call from them. But get this - it was from a person who runs the dietary department. They gave her the application. She said since their is no MT job opening would I be interested in working as a dishwasher on weekends? I was stunned to say the least. She repeated that there was no MT opening but they really needed help.
I cannot make this stuff up! What in the world?
The job is still posted on their website and at the employment agency. Is this just too weird or what?
Twister, scavenger hunt!!

Good luck on the hunt of where to go....sm
I've lived all over north Georgia and am familiarizing my husband who hasn't seen all of the areas while we figure out where to move to. Our next move is the one to plan to be "it" - the place that I retire at when the time comes in a few years (he's already retired).
You have a brown smudge on your nose you
x
You'll still pay through the nose for benefits
employee. There are no such thing as raises in this industry. It just doesn't happen. Meanwhile, my husband's employer (not MT) told the managers not to expect a bonus this year. So, it is not just this industry.
The American dream is to own your own company; be your own boss. Why let the rates stand in your way? If you are as good as you say you are, then you would find a way to have benefits and also make a decent living. You don't need an employee position to do that. Many people own businesses and still have health insurance. It is out there for the taking. Even as an employee you have to pay for your benefits. No employer is going to give them away.
It is a shame you were underbid, but this happens every day in this profession, i.e., offshoring...
I don’t brown nose anyone as I am not in charge
of how to tell physicians to dictate, just handle my end. I only wish, though.

So, imagine my apathy when the next BOS edition was being touted as 'the thing to have.' Yeah, right. I think we're all becoming wise to AAMT/AHDI's BS.

And it was obviously done intentionally! ; )
I opened a savings account ...
and I put 30% of everything I earn in there. Then I can be sure of not spending the money and it is available for the quarterly payments.
If I didn't do that, I KNOW I would spend it and then having trouble coming up with the payment.
Same here. Haven't opened a book sm
in about two years. Things change too fast, and all is available online. The key is good online references.
I wondered that as soon as I opened it earlier, LOL.nm

When I opened your message to read it, I saw something that made me chuckle. SM
At the top of the page, there was an ad defining Alzheimer's disease (with an apostrophe) from alzheimersconcern.com. We're probably the only one's following this new guideline. I wonder how many people read these apostropheless terms we are now mandated to transcribe and actually do think we're nuts. Even if it is correct, and I do understand the reasoning behind leaving the apostrophe off, it still doesn't help our image any, at least in my opinion. Just a thought.
