so forgive me if this was already noted. I have the all in one package phone, internet and cable and haven't heard anything about this at all. Nothing's been in our paper or on the news. I guess I'll just have to wait and see and worry about it then.

I do have Time Warner
Cable internet and it is extremely fast. I also have their phone (digital) and upgraded cable service for $100.00 a month. It is much cheaper than anything else I know of.
Yeah for Time Warner
I actually just saw a commercial on television about customer service from TW, the end being they were making a point about a company with customer service in the United States. It had a guy calling for service, showed an overturned vehicle in a foreign country with the guy walking and the voice says something like stick with Time Warner, where when you call customer service, you get someone in the United States.
Time Warner Cable has also settled a lawsuit
in hopes of staving off billions. They sold their customers names out on mailing lists. Got a notice from Federal courts that if you were a customer from 1998 on, then your in. I think you may get about a month of free cable out of it. So looks's like Time Warner/AOL got caught and hmmmmmm that 1998 year is the same time frame as MedQuist...geez!

This really sucks as the article said it would impact heavy users only. My cable bill is already high but to be charged for actual using will skyrocket my bill. I think I could spit nails right now. I can post the article if anyone is interested. They said it will be a trial period. Anyone else use Time Warner?

I am in a similar situation. I have no idea what to do either but don't want to turn either one away. One I have had for 3 months but get paid equivalent to once a month which sent me on my job search in the first place. Two of the jobs called me back and they both want FT. One is more flexible and the work is easier but the other seems more reliable and answers e-mails right away. They both have direct deposit which is huge for me. The one I have now doesn't. I am so confused. Need to make a decision today. Maybe we should team up?

I have a delightfully active 17-month-old daughter and work approximately 30 hours a week as an MT. Sometimes I find myself having a 'poor me' party about how I get no free time, down time or time to myself as I work every minute dd is sleeping and then some, but these posts remind me of how truly lucky I am. I wouldn't have it any other way. BTW, I also have a 'mother's helper come 6 hours a week and it is a big help.
Congrats to you on your new blessing and good luck in your endeavors, you'll find a way to make it work :)

We have no idea what they are offering. Might be good. Might be bad.
I know some MTs hate the build-up and the "here it's coming... guess what it is?" scenario, but if they just sprung a change on us, would we still complain? I think so, and more so at that.
Why can't we just be patient? The only thing that ever remains constant is change. I accepted that a long time ago (yeah, I'm old) and having done that, I feel better equipped to handle more things than had I not come to that "revelation."

You haven't given yourself enough time.
If you've only been in this for 2 years, you still have a lot to learn. You would probably do better (make more money I mean) by being in a hospital setting. It is not too late if you have an MT job and you're getting experience. Hang in there!
Haven't worked for SS for a long time but they do have the best
sound files of any company I have ever seen. They have a very decent platform, as well. I think it is just management is a little off-balance at times.

Strange that "socialized" is such a scary word for so many. We have a socalized fire department and police department. They don't check for coverage to help you do they?

Rather than ask them if they need anything, just do something, like bring food over (not right away, they will have enough) but maybe every week or so for several months, not on a regular basis, more "spontaneously." Volunteer to sit with their other children if they have any, so that they can do whatever. Things like that. Just so they know you are there for them.

I'm too busy trying to juggle 3 jobs, and spending time reading a book has become a luxury I just can't afford. Can really relate to the OP.
I keep hearing how great the economy is, and I'm starting to wonder if that's simply just not true.

been "mentoring" with them for 9-months.....so Yes, she has already been taken for the $$$, and obviously being shot down saying she is not quite good enough yet to "work" for them. ---Ever now and then someone will come on and say they "work" for them and how great they are, but its a bunch of bunk, look at the archives, 99% negative, total scam all the way. This is an example of how at least one company manipulates both the Transcriptionist and their own clients to their detriment and to the company's gain. And it is all true.
I was going to say to trust yourself and not re-read everything you type, but within the time
it took me to read your post and then go check my mail, I received my monthly QA report and had two errors where I didn't pay attention and put "female" instead of "male". Talk about feeling like a complete airhead! Just goes to show you that you're going to make dumb mistakes no matter how long you've been at this or how much you trust yourself.
Read this all the time here, simple solution
why gripe and get all hung up on something that is the way it is and apparently the people complaining do not see any change, disappointed with their lives, money, children, whatever. Life is much too short to just sit back and complain. I have free speech, it is guaranteed and I will use it. I have never in my life seen so much "woe is me" type posters. People find it much easier to sit on their duff and complain about what they perceive their lives to be rather than trying to rectify the situation.

I tend to go back and forth with my feelings about this profession. In the mornings I am glad I do not have to get up, get ready and go to an office. Many times in the evening, after I have during the day and still have work to do, I feel like stuffing it all. Many times I am disheartened when I get my paycheck, but I am glad to be getting one, while my sister worries about getting laid off from her manufacturing job. MT has advantages and disadvantages.
Unfortunately most docs don't care; they don't even read the reports most of the time.
It's OUR job to comply with quality standards.

Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! I think I'll try the frozen peas and see how that works out. It's not so much that the pain is excruciating, it's just constant and driving me nuts. I have had problems for years with numb hands and right rotator cuff tear and bursitis, and now my right arm has to ache. I had an EMG/NCV a few years ago that was normal - which baffled the neurologist since my symptoms had sounded exactly like carpal tunnel to him. So I have lived 8 years with numb hands and 3 years with excruciating right shoulder pain, and I'm only 31. The neurologist told me he didn't think it was the typing causing the problem - HUH? I can't imagine what else it might be. Anyway, didn't mean to write a novel. Thank you guys so much.

I am going to see the doctor in 2 weeks for a consult. I have been kicking the idea around for several years. One month, it won't be so bad and I think, "I can deal with this." Then the next few months, I lose at least 2 nights of sleep because of having to get up twice a night to change...stuff, and I think, "Why didn't you call???!!!" And also scheduling my life around it and constantly counting days on the calendar, not exactly sure when it's going to arrive. Last year, I got my period in the Atlanta airport on the way to Disney World. I was crushed! Also last summer, I knew I was going to get it sometime while at the beach, so got 2 months of birth control pills and took them continuously so I could skip a period, but the pill has a set of symptoms all their own for me! So, it's definitely time to look into this more closely!

Thanks for a very interesting discussion. I wasn't looking for permission to make errors! I just wondered if people believed that MT errors are a huge danger to the patient. It seemed to me that common sense would say that there are more safeguards for the patient than a dictated note in the record. We should be very careful to make our work as accurate as possible, especially to avoid the cascade of misinformation that can follow a patient forever, as was pointed out in one of the posts. Thanks again, everyone for taking the time to respond with these excellent posts.

These help a lot! This is second marriages for both, hence why we decided on Vegas...no big wedding, but it has been years since either of us have been there, so we really don't have much to go on. We will be going the second week of June, so no BIG BLAST either, haha.
