Is a C-phone like Bytescribe call-in system or Philips digital transcription
My 2 stations don't have the actual phone piece, but I can make calls to the place where I get work.  I'm just curious because I want to take a test that requires C-phone, and I'm not sure if my stations will work or not.  If anyone can give me some background or information on this, I would appreciate it.  Thank you.
Voice Solutions DA-128 transcribe station help
Anyone know how to set the M1, M2, and M3 phone number memory buttons on this?  Thanks!
Lanier station with Comcast Digital
I have used this for quite some time with no problems. I have also used a C-phone and Voice Solutions Digital Workstation with Comcast and it works just fine. The only thing you may have a problem with is having dictation cut out periodically or what sounds like "choppy" dictation (and this occurs VERY rarely) and all you have to do is disconnect the phone lines and power from the back of the device you are using, wait a few minutes and plug back in and it should work. Other than that, NO problems!
Lanier station w/Comcast digital voice

Will this work?  A couple of years ago I tried a Lanier with Vonage and it didn't.  I don't want to go through the setup trouble only to be disappointed again.  I really need more minutes than my 5000 per month with Qwest.  Has the technology changed to make the Lanier compatible with internet phone service?  Thanks if you can help me.

Philips Transcription Station and Vonage
Years ago, I used a Philips Digital Transcription Station to get my MT work.  It would plug into my landline jack and then I could dial in to get the jobs to transcribe.   This week, the machine has returned since I am trying to help out someone with their work.  Unfortunately, I no longer have a landline.  I switched to Vonage over the summer.  When I try to connect, it dials the phone number, I hear the computer voice that tells me to enter my ID # and then when I do that it is supposed to validate my number and show me the available jobs.  It starts the validating process but then times out and hangs me up.  Has anyone had problems like this and if so have you been able to fix it.....help please!!!
Transcription Gear.....sm.......

Transcription gear
I use Olympus with the company I work for now and it works well. Transcription Gear has a system that I do not think is quite as expensive. There is Bytescribe as well, and Express scribe (which is free). I think almost any handheld recorder will work with these.

I purchased it through Transcription Gear
express scribe thing yet. Have too much work today to fiddle much with it. I appreciate everybody's advice and help on this.
Try Transcription gear.com website.

There should be an instruction booklet that came with the machine. Did you buy it new or used?

I got mine at Transcription Gear.

Transcription Gear FTP Question
Yes I leave Gearplayer and GearXport open all the time.  That's how i get my files (GearXport). Have used Transcription Gear and GearXport, and recently GearFTP for 8 years now and love it.  I, too, use Word XP but there are help screens in GearXport that help you write rules so that GearXport will direct the files to your clients.  Once the files are transcribed and sent via GearXport, I then send the client a notification to pick their files up on Gear FTP.  You don't have to do all that cutting and pasting.  The rule writing can be quite cumbersome if you have never done it, but the tech support staff at Transcription Gear are very helpful.  This really works great and will save you LOTS of time once you get your rules written.  Best of luck to you!
Transcription Gear/Xport- sm

We have been using this system for about a year, but have a recurring problem: We send our work through FTP but the office cannot always retrieve it and when I talk to the TG tech support they tell me that they can see that my work is "sitting in the FTP site and that the problem is with the doctor's office. This, of course, does not "sit well" with them and we are now setting up a meeting with their IT person, etc. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Thank you

Need Lanier ExWriter to test. Will VDI station or C-phone work or can I rerecord?

I am unfamiliar with the Lanier ExWriter. Can somebody please fill me in? I have a C-phone, VDI station, a call-in system with L.E.E.C.H. capabilities that can download work onto my system from another, or rerecord equipment. Can you access files from call-in systems like you can with a regular telephone and C-phone? How is the sound quality? I am not to thrilled with the .dss or WAV files.

Thanks!

Transcription Gear has them. Listed under accessories, I think. NM

Transcription Gear user questions - sm

I just started using Transcription Gear/FTP and have some questions.

Do you keep TG open all the time? Do you keep Gear Export open all the time?

How do you send your work to the doctor? Right now I create my document in Word XP, save it, exit, and then go through several steps to paste the document to the medical records FTP site.  Seems like too many steps.

Any help with this and/or with TG in general would be most welcome.

Thank you.

Transcription Gear would have to approve the transfer of license from
I don't even know if they allow this.  You should check into that first.
If you use a C-phone for work and have a digital phone

through cable, have you tried to take an incoming call?

We only have one phone line.  I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones.  I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone.  I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report.

I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie.

Digital phone is about the only way to go.
Something like Vonage or through local cable company.
Yes, that is what I did, free phone, like new, works fine. - nm

GearXport / Gear Xport / Gear Player

Hi!  Does anyone have a Gear Xport and/or Gear Player they are no longer using and could sell to me?  I thought I'd try and buy used before going new.  Let me know!

Thanks,

Traci

Does anyone use a cell phone for their long distance to transcribe? I am just
wondering if this would work since a lot of plans have free long distance now. I'm assuming there must be some kind of adapter out there to connect your cell phone to your PC or laptop. I am wondering if anyone has tried this and how it worked out. Thanks!
with some digital phone services--sm
the product you mention, Phone Tools by BVRP, is not able to be used as some digital phone services do not support faxing functions, as of yet.

I use MaxEmail internet fax service. They have a free program for using a limited amount of faxes both outgoing and incoming. They have a Lite service, which I use, for about 10.00 per year, for unlimited incoming and outgoing faxes during that time. I have been VERY satisfied with their service. I have used them for three years.
Does a digital phone system
work for a C-phone? I do have unlimited long distance, but it's not the regular old phone line, it's through my cable server. Compatible?
Digital you can either get a phone-in system. sm
Phone-in is more expensive, obviously. Digital handhelds are best option. You can have doctors buy or you can provide and use as a writeoff on taxes. You can use Express Scribe for most, but most of the time there is a transcription module for whatever brand of recorder you buy (Sony, Olympus, etc)
I have digital phone service through my
cable internet provider.  I no longer have a C-phone account, but used it for a few months without any problems.  It is truly unlimited.  I tried VoIP through my ISP provider and couldn't get it to work and support is in India and less than helpful.  I have read where many people use Vonage and are happy with it.
I used my digital phone with Meditech. I

use high-speed cable internet and digital phone through TWC.  I actually used a C-phone to call into the system, Meditech is the platform and that is through the internet.

Meditech is a horrible platform, had to make lines. I can't see why your setup won't work though.  If you work for Keystrokes it will.

Does anybody else hate to transcribe doctors who dictate on speaker phone? nm

Digital phone/C-phone
Does anyone use a C-phone with digital phone service?  Does this work out okay?
Need a C-phone for work. Can I use a digital transcriber sm

I have 2 digital work stations.  One is Bytescribe call-in system.  The other is Philips station.  Neither have the actual phone part that you pick up.  I can call in to different numbers to get work.  Does anyone know if this will work?  I need a "C-phone" to get work for a new job, and I don't know if I should buy one or what.  I posted before, but no one answered.  Just thought I'd try and ask again.  Thanks.

Does anyone use Mediacom's digital phone service? sm
It is available to me but I do not want to switch until I know more about it.  I know some of you use Comcast, so if any of you have any advice for me on the digital services, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
Lanier & digital phone line
Does anyone use a Lanier with a digital phone line (not VOIP)? Anything else required to make this work?

thx.
Digital Access Transcription

What can anyone tell me about Digital Access Transcription as a company?  I searched the Archives and came up with nothing.  I have not gone to the "other site" yet.  Just wondering in looking for different companies and what they have to offer pros and cons.

thanks

Digital phone line with Lanier voicewriter
Now I am getting digital phone through my cable company with the addition of a data line which is suppose to give me unlimited access for dial up so I am hoping that will work. Does anyone else use a Lanier with Time Warner Cable digital phone and if so any problems?
Computer/digital phone system question - SM

I currently use a Philips digital transcriber system, which I call the number and get my recordings through the phone line.  I would like to get a laptop to start doing my work and was wondering if there was some way I could move the recordings to the laptop and just work strictly with the laptop and foot pedal.

If anyone has any information or knows if this can be done, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Linda

Software to Use to Set Up Digital Transcription Service

Hi Everyone,

Looking for assistance with setting up a digital dictation transcription service.  What is the appropriate software to use for the digital dictation, transcription, downloading voice files, typing reports, uploading reports to facility, HIPAA compliance, etc.  Would like to do this without spending a huge amount of money, but at the same time want to be secure and compliant.  Any and all assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

digital voice transcription info
I am looking for information on how to do something. I local doctor's office said that they use a handheld digital recorder and then the doctor downloads the file onto the computer and then emails it to the transcriptionist. HAs anybody done anything like this and what do I need to do this. What software, is there free software. Any information would be very helpful.

Thank you,

Lynn

Phone-in transcription

I was wondering if anyone has a good company they use for their drs to phone-in dictation.   I was contacted by a group with 8 drs and they want to use a phone system. Any suggestions for me?

a phone/transcription unit with foot pedal and earphone...
dials to hospital dictation system for reports to transcribe.

If Google it - might find a picture of one.
"In lieu of"

Ever notice a lot of docs don't know what this phrase means?  It's so obvious they mean "in view of" but when they say "in lieu of" it means exactly the opposite of what they are trying to say.  (FYI:  It means "instead of").  Okay, so I'm on a verbatim account.  This is causing me a dilemma.

I think they are actually dictating to a transcription service (Baker Sten-Stel) via C-phone
then they e-mail back to the doctor's office for me to type. So maybe it will go back to them for QA. Why I don't know. This work cameto me from a temp service and they obviously did not know much. I will find out Monday morning. Thanks for your input. I will more than likely be on this site screaming for help. The AOL question was just in case I can get them to use my home office next time, because I just switched to DSL through AOL and I was hoping that would would work with Express Scribe, my footpedal and their software.
In lieu of any Christmas bonuses in the future..
I would just like the opportunity to meet some of these guys in person...thank them for the work that keeps my bills paid...smile...and then smack the ever lovin' peediddle outta them for some of their, shall we say, "lackluster" dictating habits.  Yeah...I think that would be a glorious bonus
VoIP in lieu of landline phones?

I read a little article in one of those free local trade publications which discussed ways of saving money on everyday household costs. VoIP was listed as a way to save a ton of money by using your Net connection for your phone service.

The article didn't explain how it all works. Is anyone doing this? Do you hook up your phone to your cable connection or are you using some speaker system/software on your PC to make calls? I just don't get it. All I know is that they said you can call anywhere in the world and it doesn't matter, it's a fixed inexpensive monthly cost. I also don't know if you trade your landline telephone number for something through thte VoIP service.

So, I'm intrigued but totally in the dark about this concept. TIA!

"In lieu of" sorry, my name is not check line count? nm

I do tapes and digital. And I was told if I'm not logged into the digital system, they assume I&

BUT she wants me logged into the system by 9:30 a.m.  So I'm confused too.  I've decided that I may come back to her and just say I'm not going to do the tapes anymore.  I hate the tapes anyway.  The voice quality is horrible, it fades in and out.  It takes me twice as long to transcribe their tapes than the digital.

ARGH.. Have you gone to the gas station lately
or to the grocery store. Do you have a clue what your utilities are going to be this coming winter and WORK FOR LESS. YOU ARE BONKERS
It's slow everywhere right now. But, we have to man the station.

Lanier station
