I have seen 20-year veterans who didn't think it was their job to be able to differentiate English words like there, their and they're - I kid you not. What worries me about younger people is that there are so many old-fashioned English terms that doctors may pull out that a 20-something has never heard of. I think people used to read more than they do now, and it made a big difference. Generally speaking, of course.

Then there is drive to produce lines without the rewards of working with other people in an office and being able to witness the urgency to produce and the natural ebb and flow of work and the satisfaction of completion. That's what I lack. You can't buy drive to produce a product you don't really see.
