From what I have heard about disability, the SSA always rejects the first time - sm
as standard procedure. I am sure in some circumstances they cannot as it is obvious the person needs it, but in your mom's case she probably (in their eyes) still work doing something. Get a lawyer who specializes in SS disability. They will make sure it goes through on try #2 providing you have the doctor records, etc. to prove your case. If she does not go to the doctor much you might have some trouble though. As for the house, I'd sue the guy, small claims court if need be, then you'd at least get back $5k and maybe you can get someone honest to fix it up. See if there are any services in your area that help disabled seniors, etc. in your area that maybe can help lessen the load on you. See if your mom can maybe start moving about more and maybe do her own shopping, it may take her a while but it will get her out and possibly help her feel better; find out from her doctor exactly what he/she thinks she is capable of physically and maybe she can help to start strengthening herself and in the long-term become more able to take care of herself without relying so heavily on you. I see no mention of your family (husband and son) and how they feel about all of this. Do they resent the time and money you put into your mom; do you get to see enough of your son and husband. Don't sacrifice your family for the sake of your mom; if you have nothing left at the end of the day for them, they cannot be feeling too happy about the situation eihter. As for the rest of your family, they just don't care and even if they do they see you taking care of everything so they don't feel the need (or want to) to do anything. Even if you stopped, I doubt they'd pick up the slack since only 1 of the 3 helps and that is under duress as it is. You need to take care of you first, then your family, then your mom.

You have to have confidence in your decisions and not constantly "need assurance."
You have to be able to separate sounds in your head that are both internal and from multiple external forces.
Some of these can be taught, some are innate, some take years to develop, some either you got it or you don't.

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)

I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time. I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.

Of course, we all need gas, and as another poster noted, just not buying gas on a certain day will not work.
What I heard is, buy your gas from a small-time operation, as opposed to Exxon, BP, etc. This will cause them to lower their prices, and the smaller companies with follow by lowering theirs.
Also, noticed yesterday that gas has come down by about .50 in my area. I wasn't surprised, because when I have to go out, there's much, much less traffic...I would estimate by 75% of normal, so folks are boycotting in a way already... cutting down on their trips, combining trips, etc., because they just draw the line at the point prices had risen.
The last I heard
Huntsville Hospital transcription was a pill to work for. I worked with a lady one time who had quit the hospital because after they had agreed to give her vacation at a certain time months in advance they told her she couldn't take it and she had to cancel her vacation plans. They may have improved the way they do business by now but not sure. I would do more research if at all possible.
Heard something
Instead of the bonus being in the 10/1 paycheck, it is supposed to be in the 11/15 paycheck. Of course part of all of it was that you have to be with the company in order to receive it...you leave, you lose. Only half of the employees qualified, which is curious. I know a lot of people left after they restructured they pay plan and the hew hires get their $1000 bonus so I'm confused as to how it saves them money. I guess they are thinking they are about to have another exodus when the bonuses are given out and the new people won't be there long enough to qualify for the next quarterly bonus.

Just a few that get to me...along with the phrase "24/7, 365"... Not sure why that one gets on my nerves, but it does! "Team player" is another one! and the best yet...to me, my boss uses the phrase that she is going to "tickle" something...meaning mark it for future reference (I think).. not really sure about that phrase either!
