I have a HP Photosmart printer, but mine is a 4180. I have never had any problems printing on any kind of paper. I have used the cheapest paper, and it prints fine. I haven't used it for printing photos but once, and the pics turned out good. I know it wasn't HP photo paper either. The one I have is 2 years old. I haven't had any issues with the paper or anything else. I would probably take it back though unless you want to buy HP products only.
