I have had this problem

I think it is mostly psychosomatic - a combination of frustration, boredom, depression, staying at home most of the time and stress. I have had this problem for years. Not every day or all day, but from time to time. Especially in the afternoon, when time just seems to creep. In the past year it got worse because I am working on a bed (sacral decubitus) - very easy to fall asleep. And also because I was working for a company where all of a sudden I was making half the money (VR, new platform) and no matter how hard I tried it did not get better. Now that I have switched companies and have an account I find really interesting, the problem is less. Prozac also helps (with concentration and motivation).
It is also in part due to sleep deprivation (2 jobs). I don't think I could sleep for 8 hours anymore, but if I get less than 6 it's a problem. 7 would be best. I tend to wake up early in the morning these days.
I used to have the problem in college, too. Falling asleep in the classrom while taking notes. I'd drift off and my writing would become undecipherable. Also, during long speeches or presentations. And this was when I got more sleep (after I had a child, I never slept 8 hours again, and the child is 14!). Something about being in the classroom and knowing I would be there for 45 minutes- 1 hour made me feel like escaping - even if the class was interesting.
