Stedman's Ortho and Rehab words. You'll keep researching screws & pins as long as you do

Gotta get the Stedman's Ortho & Rehab Words. Wheeless encylopedia is a good site to book
s
Lots of 'em, but use a Lab Words, Sted's Ortho/Rehab Words, & Tessier's Surgical Words most
s
I have a Stedman's Ortho & Rehab book too
I type strictly ortho reports and that book has helped tremendously!! They have other books for other specialties too. They are worth every penny!
My most worn Stedman's is the Ortho & Rehab.
The binding is totally beat and I actually have pages starting to fall out...second to that would be the Cardiology and Pulmonary words. Congratulations on your new gig!
Get a Stedman's Ortho & Rehab word book, . . .
and you can check. Put them into your word Expander correctly (capped or not), and you won't have to try to remember which tests are and aren't capped. :)
Can't live w/o the Sted's Ortho&Rehab Words. Still use it often 12 years in! nm

Not the OP, but the Sted's Ortho & Rehab Words is invaluable and should cover

Stedman's Orthopedic & Rehab Words, both on CD and book
With the CD, all you do is highlight the word and click on the icon.
The Sted's Ortho & Rehab Words is probably my most used book and then the Lab Words book. GL! nm

I think the Ortho and Rehab is the one I pick up the most as well.

According to my electronic Stedman's.

Which is the best Stedman's electronic dictionary?
Which is the latest and best Stedman's electronic dictionary to get?
There's one on Amazon for 44.98 that includes a book and a CD-ROM.
http://www.amazon.com/Stedmans-Medical-Dictionary/dp/0781733901/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-2847481-2148145?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180728177&sr=8-1
Then, there's one on the Stedman site for 99.95, but it's only a CD-ROM.

Which of these (or another?) is the best one to get?
Electronic version of BOS is available from Stedman's
I find the Electronic version is great as well. I still like my book but find that the Electronic version is great to have on my laptop for travelling and ease of use.
Here is a link to it from Stedman's http://www.stedmans.com/product.cfm/470/239.
4th ed stedman's ortho book

Think I found it: ortho/neuro words & phrases by ..
Health Professions Institute. Found it on a book site. The 1994 edition got a good review. The 2000 edition got a bad one. Anyone?
I like drug books even though you can access sites on line. A lab book, the Sted's Ortho Words, a

Stedman's Med Dictionary and Stedman's Med Spell checker are two different programs. Which on
do you have? If it is the medical dictionary, as far as I know it is only a reference software and can't be used as a spell checker.
If you have the spell checker, go into Word. Click on Tools, Options, and then Spelling & Grammar tab. Then click on the Custom Dictionaries button about half way down the window. This will open a new window that lists your available dictionaries and one should be checked. Mine is checked next CUSTOM.DIC (DEFAULT). There is an ADD button to the right. If you click it, you will be able to browse for your custom dictionary.
Hope that helps.
I have only used Stedman's. What are some differences in Dorland's and Stedman's?

You'll need a lab words book and maybe the Derm and Immunology Words..nm

Rehab is good. Might get a little boring to some
Rehab i
Rehab medicine will include PT, OT, sm
speech therapy, etc.
Try the Vocational Rehab in your state
You may qualify for their providing you special equipment to continue doing your work. Their mission is to keep people gainfully employed, especially in the face of disabilities, and off government aid like SSD. There is a well-known woman in the MT community who has had tremendous accomplisments with the assistance of Voc Rebab.
Rehab is easy, some muscle names might get you at first but you will learn quick - sm
I first started on PT, good way to start when you are green. Loved it, simple and good lines.
Stedmans Med $ Surgical Equip words, Path and Lab words, and Tessiers Surgical Word book (3rd
edition). I never buy drug books anymore. Waist of money in my opinion. New drugs come out so often, it's best to use the web.
I've found this resource pretty useful for rehab work. Link inside.
Have this as one of my bookmarks - found this handy whilst handling rehab work. Hope this helps!

Electronic BOS
If you open your Electronic BOS and do a Control F, you can type in whatever you are looking for and it will take you right to it. Much faster than using the book.
Or Go Electronic
I currently have all of my word books, drug books, and dictionaries on my computer. About the only book that I may ever need that I don't have on my disk is *One-Word, Two-Words, or Hyphenated?* and my anatomy book, but there are some great websites out there, in addition to Google, that can supplement this when I'm away from home.
One of the last places I went to where I actually had to take work with me was Las Vegas. We had a BEAUTIFUL view of the strip, so I just turned the hotel desk sideways so that it was up against the over-sized windows and I just typed away!!! I would rather have been ON the strip, but the view while I was working was definitely different than the trees-and-mailbox view that I get at home!!
I just took my laptop, external ergonomic keyboard and mouse, foot pedal, and headphones. I had to pack the keyboard in my suitcase and pray that it wasn't crushed, but everything else fit nicely in my laptop bag as a carry-on. I think the high-speed connection at the hotel was around $20/day, but I had no connectivity problems with it.
A lady I used to know traveled full-time with her retired husband and so she had a new *view* every week! She had a satellite connection hooked up to her RV and so she would work on the road. I actually think I might postpone my own retirement just so I can have the experience of working in a different state every week!!
Electronic Signatures
The office I work for uses this company's electronic signature.

What are your thoughts on electronic
When I go to the doctor, he types my visit into the electronic medical record himself as he is speaking with me. I guess it saves them time on dictating the report .
I always say I will train for something else but it costs to go to school. I have been in school forever, off a semester, on a semester. I just hope I can get re-trained before everyone switches to EMR.

Electronic Signature/sm
I just add this phrase to the doctor signature line in the reports "(Electronic signature has been affixed)." I do not have any special program. Is there one out there?
What is an electronic keyfobb?
What is a keyfobb..and why is it worth $500?
I went with the electronic fee - $75.00. Some differences in...
benefits, but all in all it's better as far as I am concerned.
Electronic signature
Where can I get information on electronic signatures and HIPAA compliance regarding this? Thanks!
electronic signatures
http://aspe.hhs.gov/admnsimp/faqsec.htm
I found this but there are several other sites available also if you Google HIPAA+electronic signature.
pt ortho
There is a post on job seeker's board for part-time ortho or p.r.n. I am not sure if it is filled yet or not. You will have to scroll down a ways to find it.
and if you can do ortho, you then can...sm
do radiology and then neurology and rheumatology......it all kind of links together in that way, at least for me 28 years ago is how it went....ortho to radiology to neurology and rheumatology and now today I can do it all........I especially love infectious dz, oncology, and I do not like OB/GYN nor eyes.
ortho help
I imagine it's pseudarthrosis .. not pseudOarthrosis.
W/C and Ortho
I have five years experience in both; work done is for the state of CA, although I do not live there. Every specialty has its own terminology, etc. It should not be too difficult a transition, but it could be challenging to make lines until you become familiar with it.
Ortho
I've done ortho and acute care so far.
I like ortho the best, probably because I started out doing that. They have such a huge number of strangely-named signs and tests though that just slay me!
ER reports sound like they might be interesting. Seems like you'd hear it all doing those!
Ortho help
Due to account reassigment I am now going to be doing strictly orhto accounts.
I do have Instant Text and several Stedmans such as phrases but no specific specialty books.
I am wondering if the Ortho Word Book is something I should purchase?
I am also wondering about some the ABCZ products?
I welcome any suggestions.
Thanks!
ortho help
I have done ortho clinic in the past, just not 100% of the time.
I previously did multispcialty for many years which mostly consisted of family practice with an occational specialty thrown in to break the monotomy.
I would not say I am nervous about 100% ortho but I am "cautiously optimistic". Since it seems likeall I would be doing in the immediate future I was wondering if I should invest in the books etc.
Thanks for the input and offer to help.
Ortho
IMHO Ortho is the easiest of all unless it's urology. An ortho book mighth make it easier for you...like Stedman's. If you do ops think carpenter...hammer, screws, nails, etc. You can use the Stedman's Word Book to look up say "screw" or "Pin" or "nail" to get the specific name. I would highly recommend it. Good luck to ya.
