Your best bet is your local Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield company, depending on where you live

Here in Idaho, we have both companies but a lot of other states have BC/BS combined. Our family has a policy through Regence Blue Shield that is $196 for my husband and three kids. It has a $25 office copay and it is a limited policy, which is 12 office visits a year and lab up to $300. It works great for us because we never got to the doctor, yet we have it if we need it.

I have an individual policy for major medical, $35 office copay, with our local Blue Cross and it is $59 a month for me and it has prescription coverage too. Not a bad deal. I think they are your best bet for decent coverage at a good price.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Mutual of Omaha - Which company pays off claims the best w/o hassle?
nm
Blue Cross only pays $25 towards exam. sm
They have coverage for glasses up to $100 (what progressive trifocals cost under $100?)  Of course, my doc does not have the frames that come under the $100 program.  Natch

Visits to MTSTARS...sm
How many times a day, on average, do you come to this website?  Just curious.
Chiropractor visits
I take myself and my two boys (14 and 8) to the chiropractor every 4 weeks. It is just to keep us "tuned up". My kids notice a difference in themselves if we miss a month. They actually like going because it makes them feel so much better. I would be concerned about it if they are going every week though. If you are paying for it, you should have the right to ask about it.
9 YO Chiro Visits

As an insurance claims specialist, there are two issues here.

1) Since the mother works for the chiro, it is likely he would not bill the mother for treatment. And, if he did approve of professional courtesy by not charging the mother, then any claim to insurance would be fraudulent in the first place. This will be a policy provision in your own insurance policy.

2) The mother is probably filing fraudulent claims. You MUST speak to the Chiro on a personal and confidential basis. I would either try to contact him by phone, or send a certified letter where only the chiro can sign for the letter. Then you have proof that he received it. It won't take long for the provider to find out if the mother kept the money.

3) Filing a false claim is unlawful and can result in treble damages. You bring it up to your carrier and if it is truly a false claim, you could be entitled to part of the recoupment, if that happens. This could even potentially be a police matter of embezzlement.

4) 50% of all doctor's office will expeience some form of theft by an employee. I've seen it time and again.

No matter what, it doesn't sound right. And since the boy obviously hasn't been to the chiro in a while, it is very suspicious. Since you pay for the insurance and presumably the difference not covered by insurance, you have EVERY right to get involved. Furthermore, just as an innocent bystander, when you know someone is breaking the law, you have an obligation to report it. Don't be intimidated, find out what's going on. Best of luck.

You might try a few visits and then switch to
Massage therapy. I too have muscle spasms in my neck and I have done both chiropractic and massage therapy. I have found that a good 1 hour massage does wonders!! and the effects last longer than what the chiropractor does. Sounds like a luxury but to me its preventative maintenance in this line of work. When I'm crying because it hurts so bad to hold my head up straight I can't very well type!
Limiting MTStars visits! LOL.

But one must check in from time to time throughout the day. Only trouble is, I find myself using that time to also check my e-mail, do a bit of browsing. Amazing how those the clock ticks quickly and the minutes can add up.

if the average person who visits the doc
Only knew where their private records were going, I think there would be an uproar to say the least.
emergency room visits

I have often wondered this exact same thing. A lot of people go to the ER who have no health insurance or no primary doctor.

I had one woman bring her child in because he made a funny face after eating a sour fruit candy, I mean come on!

sounds like my clinic visits ... sm
When sick for a visit, have done very interesting things with bodily fluids (including regurgitating on the doc). When rattled, have screwed up HPI and ROS. Have had conversations with other patients/office employees during my visits. Used to take at least 1 small child for every visit (one doc even let her play games on the computer while doing my exam, a tech let her help place EKG leads, and a radiologist let her help "read" a mammogram). Now that the small child isn't so small, have answered her calls during doc visits. They do put up with that and more. Seriously, I'd rather type about a pelvic exam than do one, especially if yeasty. Your post actually made me appreciate the doc more and be more tolerant of the way they dictate.
yes, your cranky; the patient visits are actually coded sm
due to time spent in the room. this is to document to CYA if needed. so remember, the more you talk in the room with your doc, the higher bill you will see. like office visit, regular; office visit extensive, etc.
Husband's plan has no deductible, just copay and pays just straight up to 12 visits a year.

I do have a high deductible for mine, I think $5000 but the important thing to me is that I only pay $35 office visit copay. The deductible only kicks in on lab, x-ray etc.. and I have prescription coverage. The other thing you have to consider, as I also work in a physician's office doing medical billing, is that there are substantial contractual adjustments if you are with a BC plan. Say, your bill is $100 and the "allowable" from the insurance company is $75, that means that your doctor's office has to adjust off the extra $25 and you are not responsible for that; whereas, if you had no insurance, you'd have to pay the whole $100 out of your own pocket, no discount there.

do you really think they cross the border on their own?

God bless the Red Cross

And some people have the nerve to say not to donate to the Red Cross because of not being sure of where the donations are going. Shame on FEMA.

Keep those donations rolling.  We had some little kids who set up a roadside lemonade stand a few towns away from us and they made $50.00 to send to the Red Cross.  Isn't that sweet?

Our local firefighters were out in Wal Mart parking lot holding up their fire gear boots. No signs or anything. We knew what they were doing. Sure I only had a couple of dollars to stuff in a boot, but if every person entering Wal Mart even put in a quarter, it would make a big difference.  What really shocked me was the amount of people that just walked by.

She's not into cross dressers
You want her to come over so you can borrow her pumps maybe?
I'm in Level Cross, NC

Yep, he is from Level Cross

A Cross pen or pen set is always safe. :-)

how to handle -- be sure and dot your I's and cross your t's
First you need to be able to substantiate what you are saying.
you need to know who is signing off the report? Is she??? or is the physician???? or is she signing the report off by another physician???? If she is how is she doing it.

You need to get all your ducks in a row so that you dont go to administration and look like a troublemaker making things up.

Personally I would gather all my proof and turn a copy of it in to adminstration anonymously (make sure that cannot trace it back to you because when the fire starts you dont want to get burned in the aftermath).

If doesnt take care of it take that same info, write a letter explaining what you have witnessed and that you reported to administration but it continues and anonymously submit all of this info to JCAHO.

2 cards - FEMA and Red Cross
They haven't gotten to the FEMA ones, I don't think yet, but the Red Cross ran out of their cards today in Houston at the GRB after people stood in line for about 6 or so hours.   They thought there would be rioting.  Yeah, we are having a great time here in Texas.
How about counted cross stitch
I've been doing it since I was 16-17 yrs old and it is the one thing I constantly go back to after doing anything else crafty.... just so relaxing

Have a nice day!!!!

Red Cross site having "tech. difficulties."
Now that's a surprise! Everyone keep trying.
Red Cross donations= Research before you donate to ANY NPO
I, for one, will NEVER donate to the Red Cross. Why? My father was NEVER notified his mother died. He never got to attend her funeral or say goodbye. . . He found out after he came home from the service. I could tell you other horror stories, but won't. Sure, I'm bitter, but don't need to be flamed. Would you like to come home and find your mother has been dead and buried and you didn't even know? Think about it.

The Salvation Army is my choice. I KNOW all the money is going to the Katrina Victims. If anyone has a chance, they should look at the statistics on how much money donated really goes to victims of a disaster. The sites escape my memory right now, but they are/should be all online.
Cross country trip to CALIF and
back. My husband and I took three weeks and drove to California and back through the Southwest. Saw Yellowstone and the Giant Sequoias, Santa Fe, Sedona, etc. We had never been there and it was great just driving with no set plans, stopping along the way whenever and where ever we wanted... such freedom.. My second best was a week and a half to Glacier Falls, Montana, but that's been years and years ago. Heck, any vacation is a great one! My bags are packed and ready anytime!
Ahh, Dr. Quinn... a cross between Little House on the Prairie and ER.

I moved cross country, setting up sm

every night in a different motel, and with no laptop, either.  I just used whatever table they provided and setup my total PC system, and got the work done.  Not the usual situation, but it worked fine.  It sure was not a vacation, though, but a cross country move.  Had to stop by dark every night and get some sleep, get up a midnight to work 6 hours, then move on.  Made a lot of money, at least as much as usual.

Have most people had good luck with their MQ office closing and moving to the regional office. Have
things gotten better or worse for you.
Yes, I lost mine. I upgraded the Office 2000 package to Office 2003. sm
I have over 2000 autocorrect entries and lost them all as well as my supplemental dictionary for my Stedman's spellcheck. Lots of grief!

Maybe you will be lucky and not lose anything. Good luck to you.
Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop

International Red Cross started the aid to the Tsunami victims first.

It was over a week before we could start shipping in aid and a couple weeks before we had the telethon.  It's only been 2 days so far.  I still believe that when it comes down to human suffering people will respond no matter what country it happens in.  It just takes time.

What really angers me is that we're hearing on the news that a major portion of the cost of aid in our OWN country will come from donations of US citizens.  Where does our tax money go when we need it the most, with situations like these?  Our taxes should be used for the citizens of the United States, and whatever is left over for aid to others, not for subsidizing every other country in the world that our govt. pledges it to.

I can find no better place to hide than behind the cross of Christ!

Never heard of Level Cross but nice to "meet" you

Blue ?

HELP.  Has anybody heard of, or used a transcription platform called "Blue".....  (something...don't know what...).   I heard  somewhere(?) about this  "Blue..." system and apparently it's supposed to be super ?!!   Anybody have a clue?  .   TY in advance.

Yes, I have the blue W and
I have typed a few reports using these steps and it does report, and no one is complaining about format so I guess it works.  Thanks a bunch for your help.

I'd give anything for blue!

My carpeting is pink, not rose, but pink.  Apparently the previous owners to the person we bought our house from also had a pink stove and pink refrigerator with horrid looking kitchen wallpaper with big pink roses on it.

If that's not bad enough my bathroom is purple.  Lilacs on the wallpaper, purple tub, flush and sink. My daughter used to call it the "Barney bathroom."

Great neighborhood though.

blue smiley
what do the sad looking blue smiley faces mean beside some of the threads?
The blue lines don't mean anything on the (sm)
digital tests.  Please visit the site peeonastick.com for more info.  That chick knows her pregnancy tests.
Did you try right clicking on the blue bar?
There should be a place to check for an address bar.
I went to the Red Cross to volunteer locally and was told that I needed to apply to the state for a
background check, which will take from 2 weeks to a month to get back.  I understand red tape as well as the next person, but is this really necessary?  They are asked for people to help load trucks and pack and sort supplies right now, but only from people who are already in "the system."  I guess I'll go another route and go to one of the local churches and volunteer, without the red tape.
The Red Cross just HANDED OUT $5 million worth of debit cards in Texas.
FEMA decided to mail them in 14 days if the people knew where they were going to be...couldn't possibly get them out faster...too much work...etc.
Cross stitch kits, square lap looms for crocheted afghans.
Not that I have time.
You can cross-reference generic and brand names and get dosage info at...SM
RXList.  I guess buying a drug book every other year wouldn't be a bad idea.  When I was a newbie, I used to think I had to buy a new drug book every year until I discovered the wealth of info on the internet and I just write new terms in my books.  I know some people like to keep their books pristine, but I make notes in mine all of the time.
