I took a master gardener course in my state last year. To become a master gardener you must do 25 hours of volunteer community work in horticulture field. The course itself, varies from state to state in difficulty. My state just covered basic botany, bugs, diseases, nutients, etc. I understand California has one of the more difficult coarses, many hours of study, covering a lot of information. My class was one night a week for about 4 hours a night for 3 months and just covered basics. I didn't become a certified master because I was too busy to do 25 hours of volunteer work but I loved the course and would like to become certified some day.
