I did 72.53 minutes and it took me about 6.5 to 7 hours.

DQS line count stats so far today for me
approximately 4 hours (not deducting bathroom breaks and moving around every hour or so because of a broken tailbone): 668 lines on transcription, 218 lines on ASR (just started ASR this week). I've been on DQS nearly a year though. Some days its better, some not. If I work consistently without distractions it's usually decent.
you checked for two days May 8 and 9? This is only May 8 today! sm
I am talking overall. I check the word boards every day and I help those that actually need help. The examples I posted are examples in the past.
By the way I am not "your dear!" Maybe you are one of the ones that don't look up things either and that is the reason it bugs you so badly.
Just finished 150 minutes today
Still have 30 to go.
I did 103 minutes of dictation today
and it took me 6-1/2 hours. Let's see if I can do the math ... 6-1/2 hours = 390 minutes of my time, divided by 103 minutes' worth of dictation, comes out to 3.78 and change, so that means each minute of dictation took me 3.78 minutes to transcribe... right?
That included several difficult dictators, the ones with the long pauses while they shuffled papers--and a lot of e-mail reading (and answering) and internet-surfing on my part in between. Shh! Don't tell anybody!
I manged 126 minutes today over the course- sm
of 12 hours with interruptions, breaks, dinner, kid's homework, etc. Depending on the dictator I can do 10-20 minutes an hour, average 15 minutes an hour I would say.
Do you have the voice file type checked for
xx
Is 'Replace text as you type" checked in the AC dialog box? nm

Is the option to check spelling as you type checked? sm
What version of Word are you using? In 2003 and earlier this option is on the Spelling & Grammar tab. It's in the Proofing section of Word options in 2007. IT doesn't change any of Word's options.
Well, collectively it probably took 20 minutes of my time to post today.
My kids are out and about. I did all my work. I'm a good girl, you see! I don't really get your perceived "jab" at me at all. Why do you think that because I am in favor of someone being an MT and keeping their precious baby at home as opposed to in day care, that somehow that means I say I spend every minute of my life focused on my kids? I really think when you respond like this, its because you are not confident in your own life - I won't delve deeper, but you feel guilty. Guilty enough to have to make fun of me and put imaginary words in my mouth. I never said a whisper or innuendo that MT mothers with kids at home have to focus every second of their lives on their kids. That's ridiculous! We all know that! And I assume you're the same poster above about camp? You use the same SM. I am sorry to disappoint you that I don't understand your "revelation" about my identity! I never said a word here about camp, and don't follow that thought at all. The OP asked if she could do it - be an MT and have a baby at home. I recognize another poster from below, childfree by choice. She and I have had some wonderful debates in the past, and I think we usually agree to disagree! But certainly nice meeting you, I think??
Check if "Clear Type" or whatever (Microsoft option) is checked--SM
Do a Goggle search on Microsoft "Clear Type" or some such thing-- how to enable the "Clear Type" option. SOmetimes mine resets itself to uncheck it, and then the type is very grainy. Briefly, you right click anywhere on the desktop, click on "Properties", click on "Appearance," then click on "Effects", and then under "Use the following method to smooth edges on font types", make sure the check mark is by "Clear Type" and NOT "standard." Then click "OK" and then "Apply". HOpe this helps
How many minutes of dictation do you type a day?
.
The poster above said she type 130 per 15 minutes. sm
That comes to 520 lines per hour. That is seriously fast if its true!
On average, how many minutes do you type a day?
I am curious to know how many minutes on average does an MT type a day, by either digital or tapes. And perhaps this is too personal, but how much do you earn weekly with those minutes. I am also aware it depends on what city or state we live in, which can vary the salary earnings too.
I do enjoy my work as an IC, but feel that I do not make very much. I cannot complain though, I have plenty of work, I just really wonder if I do not put enough time into typing per day, or perhaps I need to really consider raising my rates.
Thank you.
So how have ླྀ Minutes' and similar expose-type
Could it be that nobody's told them? Or could the big, powerful HMOs be paying someone to keep this quiet? (Which would be an even bigger story.) This affects not just MTs, but everyone in the country who uses a doctor's services. We're ALL being screwed, not just MTs. And India gets the last laugh. Pathetic.
At TransHealth, there are backlog updates every 15 minutes for the accounts we type. sm
We're always informed of where are accounts are standing (in ChartMatrix). It's a nice feature.
That's a good idea, but when I type exclusively
and don't move from my chair or do anything on the net still down 50-100 lines an hour from old platform. More likely because we don't get paid for header info anymore (even though they said we would). I think it takes longer to do the searches than just type in the info..........
Did you check and see what's checked or not checked in Preferences. Maybe something got messed up
s
I used to say he nursed for 30 minutes every 30 minutes. I was trying to figure
out a way to strap him across my chest so he could help himself while I went about whatever it was I had to do. I really miss those days too.
More for Stats
But you know, the companies probably do charge more for stat turnaround of work so it makes sense if MTs are being hired for the purpose of doing stats that their line rate would be more. There would probably be a 2 hour TAT required for the work. and the MT would have to be available regardless if there was work "just in case". I asked the question because a friend of mine has been working for a company that pays 2 cents a line more for stat work (taking her cpl from a normal of 10.5 to 12.5 cents just for stats, and to 11.5 cpl for urgent reports that I think she has 5 hours to do) so I was wondering what the going rate was for MTs doing stat work only. I asked around about the company advertising 14 cpl for the stat work and couldn't find anything bad about them.
are you the only one getting stats? Ask. nm

stats
Why are all the stat reports I get difficult dictators? Do no normal-speaking docs need their reports back quickly? I don't mind now and then, but sometimes it is report after report, all stats, all difficult dictators.
Here are my stats
In 1976-77 I was making 6 cpl, plus we had a $75 CASH bonus (real money - didn't have to pay taxes on it) for whoever did the most lines each month.
Later moved to a co. that paid by the hour. I was getting about $12/hour in 1979 at that co.
Changed again in the 80's, and in the 90's, was making about $23/hour for a 40-hr week.
Back to per-line in the 21st century. Pay better? No way! Per-line it's about 9 cpl, but per hour worked, it comes out to about $6.50 to $7/hour for a 60-70 hr week - below min. wage. And that's for 35 years of experience.
Facts and stats
Facts and stats are always interesting but fail to include things like the absolute lack of respect for what we do. When the medical records industry needed more MTs, the only innovative thing they have tried is sending the work offshore. No one in the industry has figured out that in order to attract and retain good MTs, you need to respect them, pay them what their worth and stop telling them they are a profession when their pay is based on piecework.
There's probably something terrible about them. Normally don't get more for stats. nm

If IC could continue to do p.r.n. stats, but I

I get 0.08 for everything, nothing extra for STATs. nm
@
does anybody get paid extra for doing STATs? sm
if so, how much of a difference to you get for STATs versus normal cues? i am tired of getting hounded by STATs cuz they are "urgent" but yet no extra compensation for them. these days it seems over half my work load is STATs and my TAT is 24 hours for my regular pay versus 4 hours for STATs with no extra money.
I get stats all day long, no extra $$.
Personally, I love the pressure...almost feel like I'm needed for a few minutes there ;-) Sick, I know.
I'm also an on-call person on nights and weekends every other week or so and I honestly really enjoy that...THAT I get paid extra for and that gig is SWEET!
Shorthand users - what are your stats?
Hi all. I was just playing around with my ShortHand program and noticed the stats button and it has been keeping track of my percentage typed and how much time it saves.
It was at 32% that Shorthand typed for me, and it saved me over a year of typing since 2005. LOL.
I reset it and it was at 42% with just 3 reports. It will be interesting to see what it will be Monday evening!
Mine did too by making a job stats invisible until it was in our lap!!!
Yeah!
do not find the same stats in medical journals...sm
I try to stay with reputable sites that tend to be more objective, or search in the journals such as JAMA.
Here's what the National Institute of Mental Health's site said - put it at 2.9%.
"Stimulant use among U.S. children ages 18 and younger had increased sharply from 0.6 percent in 1987 to 2.7 percent in 1997. By 2002, however, the estimated use was only 2.9 percent, suggesting that the rate of use has leveled off. Use was highest among 6- to 12-year-olds (4.8 percent), and lowest among children under 6 years old (0.3 percent). The low rate among preschoolers was also the most stable, countering fears that preschoolers' use of ADHD medications is escalating"
The reason why older kids have a higher percentage of using medications is by then the parents have chased down all the "natural" remedies and supplements and tried taking out sugar-- and found they don't work in the vast majority of cases.
the properties stats still do not count headers.
Do a test to prove it. Type one word in the document and one word in the header and you will only see a count for the word in the body of the document.
Stats during normal working hours are one thing
but being paged at un-Godly hours ??? It's just not worth the aggravation,IMO.
I'm expensive, .15 & .17 for my accounts, no extra for stats which are rare. Bay area CA. nm

ATT- I was paying $320 for 7000 minutes, I am now paying $175 for 5000 minutes in CA. nm

HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies. Can anyone please help me ASAP? I am lost without it! TIA
Perhaps you are right. This one is dated today. The original article was on Yahoo today also with
But this article states it would only affect new customers right now. So I am upset over nothing. I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.
don't type double spaces. Type single. Then no one will be cheated.

Blasted cold out today. It was 104 degrees last week, but it's 40 degrees today with rain.
However, I do like cozy days like today when I don't have to go anywhere. I'm done working, the house is clean, there's chili on the stove for dinner already, and I'm just putzing around. I think I'll go bake some jalapeno cheese bread to go with the chili.
I can type with wine, can't type with coffee, though...too jittery.

That is, type the code above before and after what you want bolded in the text-to-type box. nm

Labor Stats from Dept of Labor for MT inside
This is quite interesting...it is too long to post here but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the statistics. Thanks!

It was $89 the last I checked, but...
you can pick them up at a much better price on eBay. :)
I checked this but....sm
I couldn't find the medication any cheaper than the one local pharmacy that I'll be getting it from. Buying in 1-3 month supply didn't cut the cost more than 75 cents for the entire 3 month period, so basically not worth the hassle of multi-month purchasing.
Have you checked into
your local telephone company? I have my DSL service through my phone company and I only pay $20.00 a month for mine.
You should have this checked out!! sm
My uncle and his wife were living in a mobile home that had some water damage from a hurricaine. This causes mold to be inside the walls. She was sick for months with respiratory symptoms and cough - they finally found out about the mold problem. By then she had some sort of infection in her lungs and ended up on oxygen and eventually died. Please get this checked out! She and her family had to make the decision to turn off her respirator (she was conscious the whole time, just could not breathe on her own.) It was terribly sad.
Just checked on this
Spouse is on disability and wanted to go back to work. They told him he can work 9 months out of 5 years if he makes under 640. a month. If he makes over 640. a month working, then benefits stop sooner. There is information on their website.
thanks -I checked with my
local govt office yesterday and they said I needed a vendor's license. Maybe I should just do a little more checking.
I just checked it out myself.
There is always someone out there trying to be funny. NOT. I reported that one too.
Thanks, I checked
and Comcast doesn't seem to have any numbers local to her.
I checked there
It completely disappeared. Unfortunately, I had the disk for the spellchecker when I worked for my first company and I don't have it any more. The tech said he'd put something different in my computer (I forgot what he called it). He has no idea what could have happened to it either. Thanks anyway.
