I'm not sure if it puts it in Word or what it does. I've never needed it.
I think a program that would pull header information from Word and add it to a log file might be needed by quite a few MTs. I don't know if that's feasible since everyone's needs would be different. A lot of MTs like to keep logs though, myself included.

The purpose of QA is not to fix your mistakes DEAR..the purpose is to get your quality up so we don&
look at your work. It gets sent directly to the client and we do an occasional audit. If you don't want to deal with editors then listen to what they say and pull your damn score up and you won't have to worry about it all. The comments left are feedback. Why the hell should we just "give you the answer" we need to explain it to you so you do not make the same mistake. Sounds to me like you editor is probably pulling her hair out with you. If you can't cut it, get out of the business!

Your workload will definitely increase with the absences...however, conversion from dictation to transcription minutes????
If you are talking about how many lines you get from a minute of dictation, that varies according to the dictator's habits and ease of transcription. Most of my operative notes always averaged about 10 lines for every minute, sometimes 11. If it was a bad dictator it would be lower.
Is that what you are talking about?
As far as demographic info -- are you being paid for demo information? I wasn't. So it would not figure in there.

Are you looking for a way of not giving her your price? Am not sure what you are asking. They could have found someone a bit cheaper. You did everything you could, you followed up, etc. Their way of letting you know that they don't need your services or "letting you know later" is by not calling back. When I call around for prices on services that I need, I don't call everyone back to let them know I am going with someone else. Again, I could be misreading what you are asking and if so, let me know. It is a competitive market right now. If you are that bewildered and want some answers, call her back and ask. But evidently if they need someone ASAP and they haven't called back, they have gone elsewhere. Sorry. Patti

well, I guess we all disagree at one time or another--sm
but I did not say hate the BOS, I said hate the AAMT that produces it. Very few people have any respect for that organization any longer, but continue to buy the book from them, which is still feeding the monster, as I put it. anyway, that is just my opinion. NONE of my employers, or any one that I have ever tested with, used the BOS. I know what the book is. I have seen it and still think that it is just guidelines and nothing is set in stone. MOST doctors have their own preferences anyway, which have nothing to do with this book. I have many many reference books, so it is not that I don't believe in booked reference material. I have spent a good amount of money on them and have no qualms about continuing to do so. they are all invaluable, simply as reference material. I simply object to the AAMT, which has *shot the american MT in the foot*. but that is still just my opinion. enjoy your coffee.

I just received my first subscription via E-mail to Advance Health Magazine.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY ACTUALLY HAD TWO ADVERTISEMENTS IN IT FOR HIRING INDIA MTs?
These are about 1/4 of a page size. One is from CBAY, which is Spheris, which is their 100% India company. Bragging a 30% decrease in costs to hospitals.
This not only threatens American MTs with losing jobs outright, but it also UNDERCUTS us. This is why we are making less money, less benefits, and needing to work harder.
I sent an E and cancelled immediately. Actually, I had been considering it for a while because of a bit percentage of their Medical Transcription articles are pro- undercutting American MTs, anyway, just like AAMT.
In my opinion, WE ARE BEING SOLD-OUT, AND BEING SOLD-OUT BY AAMT as they push harder and harder to make money any way they can, even by supporting Indian MTs, who are probably being told they "have" to join their organization...
They have been trying to force American MTs to become certified to fill their pockets and position themselves for the future as a monopoly. However, it seems American MTs are not as easily led as in India, so they flip-flopped. If you can't beat them, join them, right?
I am so disgusted. Last month they had an article from someone encouraging companies to hire American MTs and I was so hopeful, but this made me sick, to get it in my E-mail.
Time for me to make a stand. My job is worth fighting for and I need it...
I guess if there is a 10th it's time to replace my 8th!

The Purpose Driven Life...
I have felt very overwhelmed too over the past several months, and my DH gave me a book for Christmas that is the most wonderful gift he's ever given me...."The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. It is written to be read at the rate of one chapter a day, so it is very managable in our busy schedules.
Anyway, this book has made a huge impact on my outlook on life already, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone who is questioning their purpose in life. It is a wonderful book, and if you can't afford to purchase it, you probably get it from the library.
Find something fulfilling to do - something with a purpose (sm)
What if you got a job helping those less fortunate than you? Many people were born with mental and physical disabilities and you could use your abilities to help them. Apply for a job at a home for the mentally retarded or for the elderly - do something that makes you feel good in your heart - where you know at the end of the day that you made a difference in someone else's life. That will make you feel wonderful!
If not something like that, and you just need some variety, work for a temp agency so that you can keep learning one job after another and moving on.
Right now you are living in oppressed conditions. Anyone would get depressed being alone in the dark day after day. I do believe in depression - anyone who does not is jut unaware. Get yourself out of that apartment! Go for a walk. Make a point to smile at at least 5 people who look unhappy - force yourself to smile. Read up on the internet about how lack of UV rays causes seasonal affective disorder - read about how forcing yourself to do things like smile, cause endorphins to be released in your body and make you feel better. Use your brilliant mind to figure your way out of the maze you are in - you will have to look to new ways of thinking,and new ways of living.

that message can open a trojan on your PC that will access your ebay information. Happened to me once and some yo-yo hijacked my EBay account and ran up $3000.00 worth of charges in about 2 hours. My account got suspended for suspicious activity and I was notified by EBay of the problem. Lucky for me, they found out who did it and cancelled all the charges. I had to go to the EBay chat with customer service and repair the damage. Took about an hour. Now I change my password everytime I get a message that's fake and send everything to spoof@ebay. It really does help. So, if you do get a note about suspicious activity, then go to Ebay and see if you can log in. If not, then the email is from them. 
The sole purpose of AAMT was and is to make..
money. With some online schools pushing their credibility to newbies, enough have fallen for "it" that they still rake in plenty. The original idea was, no doubt, a good one. Somewhere along the way, the working MT was forgotten. AAMT in no way represents the best interests of the working MT. The idea they are pushing now of making CMT credentialing mandatory is a joke and certainly not in the best interest of hundreds of thousands of working American MTs.

I've never seen frequent notes that state, as a condition associated with gallbladder disease, that "patient is unable to lose weight." In fact, being fat is one of the 5 F's associated with gallbladder disease - Fat, Female, Fair, Forty and Fertile.

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

Does anyone know this one. I will see the patient back in 4 week's time, 4 weeks' time or 4 weeks time. Can't seem to find this in any of my reference books. Thanks in advance.
