If you're talking about MetroScript, I didn't find that they had any extra fees (sm)
They pretty much only charge you for what you use. I only pay $14.99 per month and it works great for me.
I just googled a little bit and see what you're talking about...
and I downloaded the zip file myself to see. Are you sure you extracted them to the correct place? I got 2 dll's and 1 ini that, according to the Readme, are supposed to go in the C:Program FilesNCH Swift SoundSCRIBE folder.
I guess if you did all that and it still doesn't work, the next step would be to contact NCH.

Yes I had a couple offers that I accepted that were IC but they never got started for one reason or the other. One was with Landmark. That was explained. A couple other ones changed the ground rules on the day of training and I quit before I got staretd, they were IC. But I am not working right now. I just accepted this position and have not started yet and it is employee. I may have worded things wrong, but I did not try to deceive anyone.
I think its better to just not post here since there is no much defensive crap going on. Folks who hate their jobs (I have been there) hate the ones who don't hate their jobs and tell them they are lying. My goodness, just trying to give a little encouragement that there are jobs out there. Some folks don't mind IC status (I am one of them) but this job happens to be employee status and that is fine too.
I wish you well in whatever job you do or don't do whatever. I don't have time to pick posts apart.
Do you ever find yourself talking to your monitor
when you have these ESL's or Tigger (hoppity hop, bouncy bounce) type of dictators? My kids tell me they've learned to ignore me when I'm working after they hear me say "come on now, you can say it" or slow your behind down, speak the dang language, etc etc!

Most of us have the good life and would not dream of doing the jobs Hispanics do. I used to work at least 2 jobs to have the kind of money I wanted and had more jobs than that at 1 time- hardly anyone wants to work like that. I think America has gotten soft in a lot of ways whether school systems, work ethics, children and too numerous to count ways. You can bet your bottom dollar if an American is standing out with a sign saying will work for food- ha! Try to get them to come work and see what happens. Your president needs to close the borders- until then I will get the best person I can to work for me, to do a good job and not grip the whole time nor sit down wiht the job half done.

header info, when job was dictated and when it was transcribed, who typed it, stuff like that, but nothing about billing or discrepancy in line counts....

I ask what they need to be paid. Many state 10, 13, and 15 cpl. Now, 10 is reasonable for an excellent MT, but I highly doubt they are making 15 cpl at their other jobs. If they are, why are they looking (and again, what's the company so I can apply)?!? I'd take a 15-cpl job and latch onto it (assuming it's not a horrid dicator, etc.) I really felt like they were exaggerating line rates hoping I'd want them so badly that I'd put out some kind of miracle offer. I received hundreds of resumes, all with about the same experience and skillsets, so on the contrary, when someone tells me they need 15 cpl to start, I won't even consider them. I'd worry that even if they took the position at 9-10 cpl, they'd always be looking for something better and up and leave within a few months. Also, if you are requesting 15 cpl, then I expect to see 15-cpl test results! When you are asking for 15 cpl but show me the same exact results as someone asking for 9 cpl, I'm going to choose the latter. (Would you buy a designer dress for $400 if the same designer made the same exact dress and sold it through Walmart under a different name for $100?)
Another thing, production and line-count method is key to how much you make as an MT. If someone offers you 15 cpl and it's a 65-char line w/o spaces or headers, template lines don't count, crappy dictators, poor sound quality, etc., then you're still only making 8-9 cpl in the end, just in a prettier package that sounds good on paper.
Didn't anyone find it kind of upsetting that
they described the MT as a "typist" and that they showed the substitute wife and the hubby just sitting down and "taking over" her MT job as if anyone could do it without any training or expertise at all??? Also, I was highly irked when they described the other wife who was a car salesman as a "high-powered executive" and the MT as a "stay at home mom" even though she works in a demanding career requiring great expertise 7 to 8 hours a night!!! Maybe I'm overly sensitive but we MTs definitely deserve more respect!!!!!

anything googling, but if they are TramsAm Associated out of Florida they are as crooked as the day is long. If you search through the archives you'll find lots about them and you won't find one good word. It will cost you to work for them.

I know exactly what you are talking about.
There are a lot of people like you are talking about living in trailer parks. However, there are trailer parks around where I live that are nothing like what you are talking about. My point is that you should not lump everyone who lives in low-income housing together and label them as trash. A lot of people who live in these nice neighborhoods with all their wealth, got that wealth dishonestly. They may not be underachievers, but these people are criminals, no matter where they live. They may be your neighbor. It would be the same thing if everyone thought if you were wealthy, then you had to be a crook in order to get that way. The way things are going there are going to be a lot more poor people in this country, maybe even you. I certainly do not wish you any misfortune, but you may not always be able to afford to live in those nice neighborhoods with the high property values. We can argue all day about it and not get any further. The fact remains that there are stigmas regarding all kinds of things. Even if it is partly based on facts, it still boils down to prejudice.

For your information, I had already submitted my test. I was not "cheating" as you put it. I didn't know what the word was and could not find it through my own research so I asked. I am SURE that asking for assistance AFTER the test had already been submitted is NOT cheating, but trying to actually LEARN what the word was that I DID NOT UNDERSTAND. If I had thought for a second that I needed to clarify to YOU the reasoning behind my request I most certainly would have asked you for permission first. My goodness.
