I gave two weeks notice... but stopped doing their work FIRST

Since they refused to give me a raise after 7 years of loyal service to 3 doctors full-time, i gave me 2 weeks but didn't do their work in my 24-hour TAT window because I was SO p*ssed. I got it done "on my time" at that point. I have a hot head i can't help it... plus it was a huge slap in the face when not only they weren't giving me a raise, they expected my paychecks to decrease because they were mad they were paying for templates! we seriously were like a little family... that was three months ago and im STILL hurt about it...

No one ever gave me 2 weeks notice when I was let go
so why do we owe anyone this courtesy?
Accepted a job with a new company, gave two weeks notice to my old company..
Old company, let me go before two weeks was up. New company, said they were having trouble getting me set up and my equipment ready, but they would pay me while I waited. It's been a month, still no check from new company even though I was told it was "in the mail." I have no income and am at a loss.
I have a signed offer letter from the new company, contracts, etc. I applied for unemployment, but old company is saying I quit and technically I am currently employed with the new company! New company is not returning calls or answering email.
What should I do!?!?!?!
I started sending my resume out today, but the process of getting a new job will take at least two weeks and I need money now to catch up on what I'm behind!
mine stopped doing that weeks ago. I believe the glitch is fixed. NM

I just gave notice at my job and all I gave them was when my last day would be. SM
I don't think they even cared why I was quitting. I called the supervisor to tell her in person and she simple said "I need it in writing and when will your last day be". Personally, I like things quick and painless.
You gave notice to your old job w/o knowing
what your line rate would be? Am I understanding that correctly?
I gave them about 6 weeks.....
I kept thinking it would get better and after about 6 weeks when it was getting worse I just quit.
But you gave tthem notice at 11 cents - sm
so if they want you to stay, you have to ask yourself, 'What's in it for ME?' And then as them for 12 cents.
I've always given 2 weeks notice
and worked until that 2 weeks was completed. Never was dumped. I don't like to burn bridges just in case I might need them again one day!
Always OFFER 2 weeks notice if at all possible
I recently gave my 2 weeks' notice at the national I'd been with for a couple of years. In my letter I simply stated that because of recently being moved to a new account, I could not afford to work due to having to absorb 100% of the learning curve expense, as my paycheck was cut by almost 50% due to learning a new account/new specialty. I expected them to give me the option of leaving immediately, so I had another job lined up. However, they called and asked what they could do to make me change my mind. I thought about and called back the next day and let them know what I'd would work for me, and I'm happy to say that I'm still there and very happy. I had a new job lined up and had even started before I gave my notice, though, as I always like to get my ducks all in a row before I start shooting. : )
Good luck with your decision. I know how hard it can be.
You're so right - I gave my notice - 5 more days & Im back home!!
I worked at home 9 years - back in an office for a year -cannot WAIT to be back home again. Office politics and BS, silly little rules that make no sense, traffic, hours less in each day because you spend that time commuting, people who care if you have a $200 purse or not...when you work at home you can still have friends, but you get to choose who you spend your time with!
No reasons. Give 2 weeks notice.
They will probably let you go immediately anyway.
Never give anyone more information than is absolutely required in any situation. You owe them no explanation, either legally or morally.
I would give minimum of 2 weeks' notice
and would not want to burn any bridges so would let them know I would be willing to work a little after that if they got in a pinch but would not take the usual amount and only in an emergency type situation. Have been in this biz long enough not to burn any bridges and keep all contacts if possible - you NEVER EVER know when you might need work again. Good luck!
Does the first company require 2 weeks notice?
If yes and they opted to waive it in your case, they should pay you for the two weeks. You were only following their rules. Good luck.
I think you should behave professionally and give 2 weeks notice. sm
I just think it is tacky to not give notice even though you feel they have been worse than tacky to you. Professional behavior makes you look good and feel good. Feel free to flame me to a crisp!
If this was posted at the beginning of th year, it has taken 3 weeks for anyone to notice. nm

Early in my career I worked for a service in the office. I gave my notice after almost two years...
with them because I got a job with a hospital that paid better and had better benefits. I gave my notice and the office manager made my life heck for my remaining two weeks. He gave away my desk, my chair, my transcriber (we were still transcribing cassettes back then). I spent the next two weeks shuffled between workstations and using the crappiest equipment they had. He also refused to give me any help on my account. It was a huge family practice from which I would get at least seven 90 minute tapes a day from them. Before I gave my notice, I was the lead on the account and had three other people helping. When I gave my notice, he couldn't spare anyone to help me and I got several tapes behind. I kept telling him I was behind and he would just say do what you can.
Long story short, he tried to stiff me on my last paycheck because he said my account was way out of turnaround time and I had cost them money. He had told the owner of the service that I had never asked for help and that I purposefully held tapes back to screw them. I ended up taking them to small claims court to get my money.
Some people are just ugly people that take EVERYTHING personally. You can't win with people like that. They are unprofessional. I wouldn't worry about your boss' attitude. In a couple of weeks, he'll just be a memory.
I gave 2 weeks because was told if I didn't do that I would not be eligible for rehire in future.
:+
You can give 2 weeks notice, but be ready to leave right then if they suggest it.
Good luck to you!
Once you give notice and quit working, how many days/weeks/months
are you covered by your medical/dental insurance? My employee handbook does not mention this. Is there a "standard" period of time that you remain covered? TIA for your reply.
Stopped getting work in the middle of Dec and found a new job.. however he
There are some who work locally to the office. Has anyone asked them if the office is open? I live in a different state. What a royal mess!
Just got it today. Just stopped pacing to try to calm down. Didn't work. See inside---
The cover story should be posted on their online site within a month or so for those who do not receive the printed version as well.
Where I have been, you have to work out your notice
to get it back. My last company had a policy that you could only be paid for a certain number of hours, but they must have had enough people quit without notice that they changed it so you could receive everything if you worked your notice. Check on the policy, and if your company does have this rule, state in your very professional letter of termination that you are willing to work out the notice.
I know if you work your notice you will get - sm
any vacation time due to you. I have no idea about sice time, but I would think that is not paid to you. You only get that if you are sick, not if you quit. My DH has about a year of sick time (they are allowed to carry it over luckily) and I know if he quit he would not get it, but he would get his vacation time as long as he worked his 2 weeks notice. If you quit without notice you will not get a penny.
Yes, I am looking PT IC work and I notice this, but sm
I also notice that many many jobs ads specify US MT's only. Having worked for a company that offshores heavily, I believe this will translate into better quality work, as I always got the hard stuff, the crap dictators, and the docs that insist on quality and nitpick everything to death (those were my favs). I think the division of labor is more fair if it is split up only between American MTs, since the easier work (which balances out the more time consuming) stays here and you at least have a shot at getting it sometimes, as opposed to never.
crummy platform gave it away. I know where YOU work
Usually in 2 weeks I know if it will work out or not. nm

6 WEEKS...IT DOESN'T WORK...... sm
the "reason" it doesn't work is because it's been sitting in the box for 6 weeks. LOL ! If I ever put my cookies down long enough to open it, I'll let you know.
I had to work without a spellcheck for a few weeks once.. .
We couldn't get it loaded onto my computer and it was miserable. I looked up everything because I was so worried about spelling something wrong. If you are paid on production, I would tell them no thanks! Even if you have good reference books, it will take up a lot of time. I hope they can figure out a way to get a spellcheck on your computer! Good luck!
Ad for new hires 2 weeks ago, no work last week or this :(
No work for basically 2 weeks on either my main account or backup. Can't help but wonder how many new hires have plenty. I've been sitting here with absolutely nothin' for nearly 10 days and even tried on the weekend. I love the account, but a girl's gotta eat!
Anybody else, or just my accounts?
I have that very situation exactly, except I work a weekend every 8 weeks.

for what god gave her in beauty, the devil gave her in insanity.
she is one scary chick to be raising kids.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm

Maybe all of MQ will be like Amherst or maybe so many of us at Amherst have not work they gave us
other accounts in other offices. They sure overhired but a lot have quit because of no work. One thing for sure, you wont get the truth out of your supervisor.
My kid stopped going at 18.....SM
She liked her pediatrician so much she stayed until 18.....
Re QA, has anyone stopped
looking at their edited reports? I simply cannot do it anymore. For 18 years I have been transcribing medical reports, and the more I type the worse QA seems to think I am. It is to the point I cannot bear to look at my reports anymore...it is crazy with tiny little errors and it only makes me sick, literally. Then if I want to take 1/2 hour out of my time I can relisten to all my reports, and 8 out of 10 times it is a 50-50 chance of who is right but of course it is always the editor. I get through the 'grunt' work, piecing together a puzzle from some horrendous dictator, with a 99% completed report, send to QA for 1 blank, and it comes back with 3 or 4 ridiculous noncritical errors which matter nothing to the content of the report, and all because someone was able to 'listen' against my already typed report (aww, that is so hard!) and found 'is' where it is totally questionably there or not, and I am sick of fighting it anymore. I have spent WAY TOO MUCH time worrying about this ridiculous stuff. What I want to know is: Does anyone else not look anymore, and how much can it hurt. There are editors who just want to mark off for something, anything, and make a name for themselves it seems even at the expense of ruining someone's QA score. How about I just stop looking and let a manager fire me one day because my score is down...who cares anymore. I will not even respond to posts with the attitude that we need to provide quality to the customers blah blah blah - hey, if hospitals wanted quality the work would NOT be going overseas to ESL transcriptionists in the very first place, nor would capitation be in place and all the woes that has brought, nor would our personal information be 'out there' floating around so some day it can be breached. That argument is totally lost on me. American MTs get constant abuse from not only the dictators but again also from editors, all the while reports come back from India or elsewhere with never a care or problem from hospitals at their quality or errors...oh it is a big joke all the time how many errors they make but that is okay, that is acceptable for them. For us - look out, you are constantly harassed and repeatedly tormented on a daily basis over this. It is not right, it just is not right.
I stopped letting them do that.
Too many times they had inexperienced techs who messed everything up. Once my computer crashed because of what they did. Another time, another company, they deleted a program and nothing would work right. Just because they say they are a computer tech does not mean they know anything. Many do not even have a certificate, just a litle on the job training.
That was a while ago and they stopped docking pay.

I have a question. How do you have 2 list open at the same time? I can merge 2 list but I don't know or see a way to have 2 separate list open.
p.s. This is a work computer, not my PC, so the software may or may not be the same.
They stopped making those back around
1914. But hope you find one anyway! Main thing is be happy with yourself and your life. Funny thing is years ago my son wanted a fish tank, so we kept upgrading to larger sizes, going from 5 gallon, to 10 to 35 and then 40 gallon. At that point, I told my son, "I will not get a larger tank because I will not get married just to have a man around to carry that ding-dong tank!!" That is the way I live my life; what I can handle and what makes me happy and trying not to have to depend on a DH to help. Maybe one day, I'll find a good man just to hang around with. Have a beautiful day!!
I took Relora but stopped. What really worked was sm
eliminating all the refined sugars and "white" carbs from my diet and beginning a sensible exercise program. I had my cortisol measured and it was through the roof. After adhering to this type of diet since last March, I have lost over 30 lb and have really gotten into exercise and am training for a 60 mile bike ride next month.
Hmmmm...they stopped with the stamps here

Yes, especially since my printer stopped talking to me.

believe me, outsourcing out of the country will be stopped soon. sm
Do you know how many U.S. doctors or clinics who contract with a US transcription co. who outsources actually know their patient's confidentiality records are leaving the country? ...very few. These docs are clueless, not by their own fault, but by the deceiving company who represents themself as a U.S. based co. (which may be true). However, they fail to "share the info. with the doc" informing them "by the way, we send your dictation to India". This info. IMO has just started to surface for access by physicians. If HIPAA passes the strict regulations on patient confidentiality, you don't think there's gonna be a big crack-down on this? U.S. MT's and honest US based transcription companies need to ride the bumps in the road now because things will get better for us. We are not talking about outsourcing work to China to sew shirts to bring back to the US dept. stores, we are talking about patient medical records. I was once a small MTSO, and I can say with 100% certainty, I would not take the legal chance of playing with patient medical records by sending them out of the country, not to mention taking jobs away from US MTs. If MTSOs were not outsourcing, our pay scale would go up and you could probably find better employees who were willing to work harder, thus reducing your costs for editing, etc.
I stopped by the office and everyone was way too polite.
The part where she cut off the clinical diagnosis and then typed "love your chest report, great work!" on it was what sent me into a spin.
the only reason I stopped doing local
accounts and tapes is because HIPAA came about and said that tapes being transported were in violation - so I went with a national - and now our information is going to Pakistan, India, Philipines - think we all felt safer with tapes.
I stopped using artificial anything years ago and
ANYTHING with artificial sweetner of any kind, no matter how far down on the label it is, makes me sick. I get sick to my stomach, get a headache and just feel horrible! I cannot convince any doctor of this and when I went to a bariatric specialist to loose weight he all but told me I was crazy. Even gave me samples knowing they had artificial sweetner in them, but didn't tell me that. I used them, got sick and took them back for a refund and never went back.
I HATE when people (such as grandparents, and well meaning parents) give my kids things with artificial sweetners in them. Especially when they know I am against it.
I live by one word now....MODERATION. If it says anywhere on it "sugar free" it goes back on the shelf. But they are getting better and better about hiding it. Its even hard to find a protein bar without it in it!!!
nevermind...stopped working again.

I stopped going to the doctor since our clinic
decided to outsource transcription services and lay off the entire department. I don't want my medical records leaving this state. If I do need medical care, I'll go to the ER or an independent physician. The problem is that nobody knows or understands what happens to their medical records.
My number keypad stopped working
Number lock is on, but it backspaces every time I hit a number. The numbers on the regular keyboard work. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
This is of no help, but I stopped working anyplace that required me
