operating system not found.;;
Does the bios recognize the harddrive? did you try a bootdisk from bootdisk.com? Also if the harddrive is okay, and win98 (what operating system are you using?) is corrupted, you will need a win98cd or you will need the restore disk that came with the computer
Help with "no operating system found" message sm
Laptop with Windows XP shows "no operating system found" - desktop working. Did this before and comes back with turning on and off, went into "setup" and shows I have so many MB stored on hard drive but cannot get system to boot, misplaced XP CD. This time I cannot get it to come back and depend on laptop at end of day to research, e-mail, etc., as desktop for too many hours is too painful. Any way to get the Windows XP to start up so I can do a system restore to an earlier time? Perhaps an update did this. It is "dead" but everything is still on there, lots of "good stuff" - a Dell so no one else will touch it and I can't get online with them as my other computer is not a Dell.

message re. "no operating system found"
No warranty- a client co. added some software to the XP which was very expensive, i.e., voice, lots of extras I used for over 2 years, "loaded" and it did this to me before but was able to get it back by unplugging, restarting several times. No one else will touch a "Dell" and that co. is closed. After several "hundred" times I can only do an "F2" and it shows me there is a hard drive with several MB of stuff on there but won't load it, tried everything in the system - hate to lose all this "good" stuff. Is there any way I can transfer my XP from my desktop or run the laptop from my desktop somehow. I think if I could get a startup menu and choose a time to restore it to, like last month or something, I could use it and stop any further "updates" which really mess up things. Gosh, I loved my laptop as it is not "painful" to use and I do have such back pain at end of day, but then I am preaching to the choir about back pain and this job, aren't I? Hate to give up on it when I know there are some good programs on there. Sorry for the rant, I have let this "take over my life" trying to get it to work again. ***$#!** Thank you!
I have no problem getting connected
OE just won't send/receive my E-mail. I just get "error". It worked fine yesterday. I have tried shutting down my computer and only opening OE with nothing else open (no web pages and/or Yahoo), and it still will not work.
Feeling connected again...thanks!
Back in the job search mode after 14 years, this forum has been a wealth of information, from company reputations to thoughtful discussion on topics of mutual interest. In the olden days when I worked onsite, my fellow Transcriptionist and I were there for each other for support. With the trend toward working at home growing over the years, we can feel isolated, and this board is an antidote. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts, and I look forward to sharing mine!
Do you have a phone line connected? sm
When I first got DSL, I couldn't fax, either. I discovered that I needed to have an adapter that plugs the phone line to the computer. It's a little box that has two jacks and the DSL line is connected to it and then you run a separate line from it to your computer and then you can use the fax utility. I will see if I can find what that adapter is called as I forget right at the moment!

Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
I have XP and can run 4.15 version without problem. The .dss codec should automatically download after you have loaded a .dss file and try to play it, at least it did for me the first time I tried. After that, the codec was there.
You should be able to do a search on the NCH site for .dss codec to find the appropriate file if the above doesn't work for you. Keep us updated.
I wish NCH would fix that 4.16 version!
I have used OneSuite for (sm)
personal use, so I'm not sure about disconnections while working. You just create an account through their website and you can recharge your minutes with a credit or debit card (maybe Paypal, too). They have a zipdial system, which basically means that you can input the number you will be calling from and then you don't have to enter your PIN number each time you call. You can also see your call history by logging onto your account via their website, which is a really nice feature. My experience with their customer service has been good, too. HTH
I am using onesuite- sm
I have also just switched to a new job with a c-phone and have decided to use onesuite. They are 2.5 cents a minute and you prepay your minutes, like a calling card. I have heard of a few people using this so I am going to give it a try. It seems to work great for them. No limits, no hidden fees, etc.
I used to use onesuite before...
I got cable with my C-phone, and it says it's 2.5 cents for prepaid minutes. You get your own account and can check how many minutes you have left. Go to www.onesuite.com.
Onesuite
I used to use Onesuite and still do if I go out of town. You use it like a phone card, and I think it ranges from 2 to 3 cents per minute. Just go to onesuite.com.
I have been using Vonage for the last four years though. As long as you have a really good internet connection, you shouldn't have problems with Vonage IMO. I have moved about four times (husband was in the miliitary), and each time I have made sure I got the best internet, and have had no problems whatsoever. Good luck.
I have both my computers connected to my DSL modem and no router
and both computers connected to the KVM switch, but maybe my DSL modem is a modem/router or some fancy thing like that. It does have a bunch of plug-ins in the back.
never had a problem with OneSuite
It's AT&T Call11Vantage that keeps dropping carrier. But, for $35/month, I tolerate it.
No, onesuite is $1.50 an hour, not $1.80.

Onesuite is an option with MDI? - sm
I used it when I started working for them, but didn't know I would continue using it?
Onesuite.com cheap, not
unlimited but very cheap, under 3 cents a minute. Lots bells and whistles. It's for regular phone not internet.
OneSuite questions...
Is it an LD program that works with your regular phone? You just buy increments of LD? I don't have LD on my phone, only Verizon and if I do make a call it is 5 cents a minute. OneSuite seems like a nice program, just wondering if anyone here uses it. TIA!!
Onesuite in hotel
That is exactly what I'm doing when I travel. I use my Onesuite account and dial an 800 number from my room and save on ridiculous charges from hotels.
Now you can also use its voip feature if your hotel has a good internet connection and you have your laptop with you. Saves you the trouble of dialing the 800 number or worry about getting charge for that 800 call.
Onesuite pay as you go service
Onesuite has always been a pay as you go service. No plans, no tie ups or anything so anytime you want to stop using Onesuite you don't need to do anything. But so far, I'm liking it so I will keep using it until someone better comes along.

You need an air card to connect to the Internet. Once you're connected, you can do what you norma
do. I have Sprint PCS and like their service. There are different plans you can choose from. Some give you the air card if you sign up for their better plans. Hope this helps.
NO, you're off. 0.03 x 60 = 1.80 that's without a direct onesuite connect sm
I used them for years. I didn't pay any attention to their rate, above -- but it doesn't matter how fast you type. You could sit there and NOT type, and you're still paying $1.80 for every hour you're hooked up.
And by the way, there are several dictators I'm 1:1 on. Not many though!
Onesuite has local access now for 0.025 cents

onesuite.com was recommended to me. Have not checked into yet but 2.5 cents sounds good.

Oh, I found it really creepy when you said you found the flowers not so skillfully arranged on your
steps, and from your own flower bed. That's what I was worried about, having gone thru some psycho kids myself with my pups. Someone's been in your yard and in your garden and at your door without your knowledge. Its just creepy to me, and I'd still be very, very careful. Especially valid sounded the other MTs warning you about potential fake molestation charges. You just NEVER know nowadays, and these people have already turned on you big time once. Luckily (though I don't believe in luck), you had it on film to save yourself and your puppy. You might not be that lucky next time, and the whole thing just sounds very unstable to me right now. I know you feel sorry for the little girl, but probably the only time I have ever made BAD decisions regarding my life is when I felt sorry for someone, particularly kids. My son even has an evil kid in his life, but one who has a million reasons for sympathy, and I was saying how we should "be bigger" than the situation and invite this kid over to play. Thankfully, I regained my sanity long enough to remember - ever time I have done something like that on a personal basis for someone just because I feel sorry for them AFTER horrible behavior, it has always been a disaster... Be kind, but you don't have to risk your family again. Be kind from a distance. Its sorry she went thru this horrible experience, but YOU didn't cause it, and its not really your problem. But it could be your problem if this kid acts out in your life. Know what I mean?

Stay away
This is the worst company to work for, please take everyone's advice. Certain accounts get put on what they call a lock out for depositing THEIR checks that bounce constantly!!! Then you can't get the money you are owed! There are so many better companies. Please look for one except this one.
I will stay.

I would stay where you are (sm)
until January. This is already a stressful time of year (the holidays) and you'd just be adding to your stress by learning a new job. Although your new employer may grant you the time off, it most certainly would be without pay. Good luck!
stay
I would stay for the house, nothing better than peace of mind in having your own home.
They should stay away,
it is nothing but a pyramid scheme, no matter what anyone tries to tell you!!!
Stay far away!
The owner is a lunatic. You should look elsewhere.
I would stay away if I were him, too
Do not blame him at all!
Help! They won't stay. :(
I had to set my home page as the main forum page here in order to get the links to "stay"/show up. Does anyone know, what might I need to change in NAV in order to get the links to stay without having to use this as my home page?? I normally click on the main forum page from my Favorites.
TIA.
If your DH wants you to stay out of it...
then I think you should.
Just my opinion. If you don't want to fight with him over it, then don't. Why should this other woman's indiscretions cause problems in YOUR marriage?
You are probably better off to stay out of it.
I can't see why an administrator would have to "make-up" anything unless she's covering her own butt or the MT's that work under her. Is she making it up because the dictation was erased by mistake or the doctor didn't dictate it in the first place. I just can't see someone putting themselves on the chopping block when it is simply a matter of asking the doctor to dictate the report. Is this an MTSO? I know there are certain things that are legal which is to state at the bottom of the document "dictated not read". To me this basically means the doctor trusts the report was transcribed/handled in the proper manner.
If you really think about it there are probably more errors made by MT's and doctors overlooking things in their reports because they won't take the time to read them thoroughly then this situation of an administrator "making-up" reports.
I'm not sure I'd want to be involved unless I knew for sure. I think you are better off just doing what is expected of you as an MT. JMO. Stay cool.....
I'd stay out of it.
A workflow coordinator isn't necessarily QA, so as long as she's not correcting your reports, she may do just fine making sure everything goes where it needs to and arrives on time.
If she IS QA-ing or changing your transcribed reports, then I'd say you have a right to bring it to someone's attention.
VR is here to stay...
I agree, it is less money, and sometimes the reports can take even longer than it would to type it, but then you get the really good reports in between that only take a few minutes.
VR is not going away, so somehow we need to embrace it and make it work for us. There will be a few companies that will stay with straight typing, but that is because they do not want to spend the money or time to train the VR. My accounts are 80% VR and 20% typing, so I do still get to type and balance out the $$$$, and it is not easy, but I still prefer it over typing all day.
stay or go
Tough call... I worked for a local group until October 2008. We heard about EMR coming for more than 3 years before it actually started to become implemented. That particular group did go with a point and click system and indeed, when they went to it, that was it. With over 25 doctors, though, they brought it in one department at a time. I will say this... when it became obvious that the time was drawing near (training sessions for other employees, etc) and we all started to get that antsy feeling you describe, the "head guy" came in and held a meeting with us in the transcription department. He stated (falsely) that it would be a year AT LEAST before any of our MT jobs would be at risk and assured us that we'd be offered positions (in house, of course) elsewhere in the offices. Needless to say, that ONE year was less than 5 MONTHS.
If you're feeling antsy and it's giving you so much grief, I would definitely start my search for other IC work. I mean, if you've no benefits to lose and you know you've no interest in anything in-house with them (IF it'd be offered), then why cause yourself heartache..
Just my opinion from a "been there, done that" perspective.
