I was not pointing you out. (SM)
Just reminding of the other boards. Posts need to be on the correct boards.

I said nothing of the kind. I was pointing out
a high enough rate to pay subcontractors 15 to 18 cpl and I said that I only get 14 and 15 cpl myself as an MTSO and I have 25 years of experience and great references and all my accounts from word of mouth. Sorry, but the money's not there. I also pointed out that I knew of a hospital that was charging clinics 18 cpl for their MTs to transcribe the clinic work and the clinics did not want to pay that much and found services to do it for less.
It's nice to DREAM that you are going to get 15 to 18 cpl, but it's not going to happen. Wake up and realize that competition is driving the price down. Even with your own accounts, 15 cpl is about the top you are going to get and that's if you're lucky. Go out and look for your own accounts and you'll come back a little wiser. That's why I said you're not going to get 15 to 18 cpl. I didn't say you aren't worth it; I said you're not going to get it. If you think you are, you are dreaming.
Pointing hand
Okay, what does the symbol of the little hand pointing to the right on this forum mean?
It is pointing south, but ...
it has to be aimed directly at a particular satellite. There is evidently an arc of them to the south, but we are aimed at one that one of the techs admitted they were having problems with.
past pointing
no past pointing
I was not pointing fingers at a particular region, sm
just pointing out that we in the Northeast have our share of bad weather. In fact, we get just about everything here. Blizzards, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, even earthquakes for that matter, albeit, minor earthquakes in the last century. Highest recorded winds were on top of Mt. Washington in New Hamphshire. Been there several times. Cold. It's expensive to live here, too. Due to proximity to the Big Apple, we get a lot of celebrities and rich types living here, driving up the per capita, while the rest of us pay the price at the pump, for real estate, you name it. Nobody tries to give us a hand. Just take from us. Funny, I work for a national, but don't get paid anymore than those in lower expense areas. When I worked for corporations before MT, pay was gauged to the region of the country we lived in. Those on west coast and Northeast made a little more because of the expenses in our areas.
some of us have been pointing to this for the past two years
and there will be others who will reply "plenty of work for GOOD MT's" which I wish they would have posted that for the 150 US Heartland MT's that got canned. You might say "Come ON people! Offer more than that! We are WORTH it!!!" Apparently we aren't worth it or they would offer more. As they say in Economics 101, "the market will only pay what the market will bear." Offshoring, EMR and VR are eating away at MT, the only thing left will be the junk ESL....

geesh yourself. I wasn't being rude, just pointing out that
the people I worked for, over the years 4 different chiropractic offices in different states, and they all had cases filed against them for various complaints regarding treatment. So, in MY opinion, I do consider them bone crunchers and I would never go to one for treatment.
Sciatica affects the nerves and acupuncture is HIGHLY effective in the treatment of sciatica because they treat the nerve not the spine. Acupuncture for sciatica is the better way to go than by treatment of a chiropractor.
I find most everything in your post to be finger pointing.
You are putting every excuse in the world out there as to why you are not able to do the job you were hired to do.
Sorry to hear about your past but that is NOT why you were FORCED to take a job. You made a CHOICE to take the job.
Yes, it is legal for an employer to ask you to do more than one account. It is NOT abuse but, by the other statements in your post, that you feel everything is someone else's fault.
If the job isn't for you, then go find one that is. The point is that your most profitable work might not be in medical transcription.
I meant eligible to take the certification. Thanks for pointing out my error.
I didn't express that clearly.
Pointing out minor errors is not amusing. It is simply rude.

Sounds like all the doublespeak inflicted on us at our employee meetings. Finger-pointing, no const

Oh, I found it really creepy when you said you found the flowers not so skillfully arranged on your
steps, and from your own flower bed. That's what I was worried about, having gone thru some psycho kids myself with my pups. Someone's been in your yard and in your garden and at your door without your knowledge. Its just creepy to me, and I'd still be very, very careful. Especially valid sounded the other MTs warning you about potential fake molestation charges. You just NEVER know nowadays, and these people have already turned on you big time once. Luckily (though I don't believe in luck), you had it on film to save yourself and your puppy. You might not be that lucky next time, and the whole thing just sounds very unstable to me right now. I know you feel sorry for the little girl, but probably the only time I have ever made BAD decisions regarding my life is when I felt sorry for someone, particularly kids. My son even has an evil kid in his life, but one who has a million reasons for sympathy, and I was saying how we should "be bigger" than the situation and invite this kid over to play. Thankfully, I regained my sanity long enough to remember - ever time I have done something like that on a personal basis for someone just because I feel sorry for them AFTER horrible behavior, it has always been a disaster... Be kind, but you don't have to risk your family again. Be kind from a distance. Its sorry she went thru this horrible experience, but YOU didn't cause it, and its not really your problem. But it could be your problem if this kid acts out in your life. Know what I mean?
I think I found it, found multiple recipes with the same
exact ingredients so I figure this must be it.
Found it, Prolastin, also found
alpha-1
What I have found ...
is that specialties are usually easier because they are a confined, defined, specific, and more narrow scope of medical terminology, etc. As well, you will not have as many dictators to learn in a specialty field.
The more broad/general the work you transcribe, the greater the base fund of knowledge you need for knowing the terminology, medications, tests, procedures, diagnoses, treatments, symptoms, etc.
Just my experience.
I found their ad.
I see in an old post that you work PT for them? Are they hiring any PT at all right now? Do they consider PT to be by hours or by lines? I can go to their website, too, if you don't get back to this. Thank you.
found it, thanks anyway...nm

I found it as gm in BOS
per BOS, so I guess take your pick.
I FOUND OUT
I work for a hospital, not for MQ, but we use their DQS program. What they do, is go in on DocQmanage and change up how they count the lines. They use a divisor that changes. They can count or not count whatever they want, and they do it! They are literally stealing from us.
Tri-Est - Found it!
It never fails - I searched for this multiple times yesterday and again this morning. As soon as I posted it on the board, I found it. Sorry to have bothered you all.
I FOUND THE JOB OF MY D~R~E~A~M~S

THAT IS JUST WANT I HAVE FOUND
out from a nice person who emailed me with some very helpful information. Looks like that is my first task, to have some dictation of my ownm some nice Americans and ESL physicians to use in classes.....Should not be too hard to do....I have acess to a hospital.....I was under the impression that since I purchased the programs and each had the company label on them, crediting them with ownership, I would be in the clear. Guess not.
Found it. Thanks.

I found it used for $100..
You can look on Mtdaily.com under classifieds or post a wanted ad. It very rarely sells on ebay.
I use it and love it too. Took me a month to be real efficient with it though.
Found it! 6.0...

I just went to my first one and I found myself....
I was dressed nice, it was held indoors/outdoors at the botanical gardens in the city where I live, but I really believe I was underdressed......not fancied up enough.
Oh well, it was my first one EVER, and was for my friend's eldest, and I went, and it was fun and nice; a lot of dancing mainly. All women were in skirts or dresses.......no slacks or fancy trousers.......
The men, on the other hand, and the boys, were dressed far more casually than the girls/women. Jeans and nice shirts were what most men and boys were wearing....very neat and clean, but I found that odd too, that the women/girls were FAR more dressed up.
We gave $$.....*S*
I think I found something

From what I can tell, we are considered "commissioned" workers and there are rules as to how OT can be applied. What do you think?
I found this one!
Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake Brownie Bars Recipe
Ingredients Bottom: 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature 8 Tbsp butter (1 stick), melted and cooled to room temperature 1 egg 1 pkg (21.2 ounces) brownie mix (tested with Betty Crocker Triple Chunk)
Cheesecake Layer: 3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla 3 eggs at room temperature 3/4 cup pureed strawberries, fresh or frozen, sweetened with 1 Tbsp sugar (sugar is optional)
Topping: 1 pkg (3 ounces) strawberry-flavored gelatin 1/2 cup boiling water 1/4 cup strawberries, cut into 1/2-inch chunks
Instructions Bottom: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9 by 13-inch pan with non-stick foil.
Cream butter and cream cheese together; add egg and mix until smooth. Combine creamed mixture with dry brownie mix, stirring by hand. Mixture will be thick. Spread evenly in foil-lined pan and bake for 15 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
Cheesecake Layer: Beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup sugar and vanilla with electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition just until blended. Reserve 1-1/2 cups of the plain batter. Stir strawberry puree into remaining batter.
Spoon strawberry batter over bottom; top with evenly-spaced spoonfuls of plain batter. Swirl a butter knife through topping for marble effect, taking care not to dislodge the bottom brownie layer.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 40 to 45 minutes or until center is set and edges lightly browned. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate while preparing topping.
Topping: Combine boiling water and both boxes of gelatin. Stir until no more sugar or gelatin granules are visible and liquid is clear. Cool to room temperature. Add strawberry chunks and mix well. Pour cooled strawberry gelatin mixture over top of cooled cheesecake and spread evenly. Refrigerate for at least two hours. Cut into bars before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.

i found them...
where *Me* said - at the bottom. scroll down when you hear the buzzing. it is a mosquito game thing to win a free something or other. VERY annoying.
I just found them for as little as $5.....sm
on ebay under the search words of "alarm clocks with sounds" and under the search words "sound machine" found them starting around $10.
I found a way to get rid of a doc if you are an IC. sm
Present with them a contract that they believe is just not realistic, that's how! Get this.....I get a call last week from local internal med. doc wanting me to do their transcription. I MT'd for them briefly (2 days or so) a few years back and they remembered me, etc. I work FT for a co. at home, so I really wasn't interested. Office manager called me last Thur., Fri., Monday and I finally decided to do it on Tuesday. Went in, picked up tapes and basically said I'd do it until they found someone else. The office isn't that close to me and with the price of gas, the fact that I have 2 little ones at home with me all day, just didn't seem feasible for me to pick up tapes, etc. Okay, fast forward to today.
I decided last night that I would make them sign a 3 month contract b/c I've read horror stories here of unpaid docs and wanted to covery my butt. Here is what I asked for in contract: 10 per 65 character line. Reasonable right? How about 15 cents per 65 characters for stats or 12-hour or less TAT. 2.00 per faxed page. And a few other things. But basically, they would rarely need anything but 24-48 turn around on tapes.
I also included my invoice from the tapes I've done so far and the total came to 589 lines. Nothing big.
Here is what this doc wants me to do: Count the lines manually using less than 1 inch margins on both sides. Use 11 font instead of 12 (thinking he will get more per LINE), come in 4 days a week. HAHA Isn't he funny? He is ESL who apparently had a newbie do his work for the past 2 years who counted her lines manually which I did just for fun. I counted 240 lines when Word counted 589 lines. What a joke.
So, needless to say, I'm not going to do it. Can you believe this guy? He was complaining that "he doesn't make that much money...can you cut down on your rates?" OMG. This guy lives in a gated community for crying out loud! I typed 27 patients in just one day. I doubt he's broke. I wanted to tell him all he is SAVING by hiring an IC. Say he did sign a contract with me and I worked for him, he would pay me approximately 12,000 a year. Does he realize that if he had someone in-house that this same employee would cost him 30-40,000 in insurance, taxes, wages, etc?
I cringe just sitting here thinking about this cheapskate. I feel sorry for the gal he's been 'screwing' for the past few years. She must have wised up!
Just had to vent!!
I have found them all to be different...sm
I have been using Meditech for my primary account for 10 years. I dial directly into the hospital's system. I have had other accounts that used Meditech. All systems are basically the same but they do have some differences that can be annoying when going from one to the other. It also depends on what you have access to. Do you have access to other reports and patient information? Also, I believe each hospital can set the system to count the lines how they want.
I like Meditech, but like I said, I have been using it for 10 years.
I have found that it is better kept to myself. sm
I have a side account of my own and work part-time as an independent. I have worked 2 part-time IC positions and my own but that is just too much. I have a set amount that is required by the outsourcing company so on the days my doc dictates more than ususal, it can be kinda hairy. Most of the time it is very managable.
I have found though that it is better just to say you only want a certain amount of part-time work. In the beginning I had companies tell me they would not hire someone with their own accounts as they felt they would be unreliable. Never understood that but was told the same thing more than once. Once I decided not to mention it, I have had absolutely no trouble. Good luck.
Found it myself
I found a site usnews.com hospital listings if anyone else needs help.
I found it!
On some screen - and I'm not sure how I got there - I found Santa's House, and below (not above) and to the left was the teeny little "post new message" box. Hopefully when I'm in a pickle and need some help I'll remember how to get to it. Having a memory - now that would be a new and novel idea! I think I used to have a memory, but I can't remember.
this is what I have found so far
through the help of an online friend, ha my gateway and interface numbers on my PC and the second PC do not match exactly. I'm waiting to hear back about this.
i found it and use it
I was curious - so I did a random search on "transription bids" found a site that is supposed to be for offshoring - but anyone can join and post their "business" and information as well as resumes and bid on private contracts for anything from resume writing, to editing books, transcription etc. It is time we bring the business home, I posted my "business" and got a hit within one hour from a company that was going to outsource but did not mind paying me direct instead of a "company that has overhead." believe it or not, they are offering me more than what my regular MT provider would offer. It is a project instead of regular work, but I can do it and still keep my other clients, and maybe get more as time goes on. The site is called offshore experts. Thought I would post it so others could take a look if they too were interested. Like I said - lets bring the work back.
can be found for 229-259
and up if you look around. I think 290 is too high.
Sorry, found that but still the
same, showing the split screen.

It is a 65-character line with spaces but not including formatting such as bold, italics, underline.
Just found out
the company will be using Scribe MT System. Anyone work on this now or in the past? Can you see your own productivity in regards to lines transcribed?
Yes there was. I found it. nm

What do you mean you found one?
Not to sound ignorant, but I'm new to this board. Been MT'ing for almost 10 years now. I don't understand what I'm looking for. Is there an actual post (like this one) that says Secret Santa or Prize Giveaway or do I have to open each post and read it?
