I don't think you should push your luck!

This sounds like an account we all dream of, for those of us who enjoy radiology.  I would play it safe.  Find out what the going rate is in your area.  It's likely they may be looking at more than one option.  I personally wouldn't take it for less than 12 cpl/65 char.  I would also suggest that you get them to sign a contract, which would guarantee you the account for as long as you indicate in the contract. Just my opinion.

PUSH those MTs!
Out of the blue I got a call from one of the bigger MT companies, asking if I would be interested in a supervisory position.  The recruiter and I chatted for quite a while and she said she would like to forward my resume to the higher ups.  The higher up that called me appeared to be a young recent business school graduate who was probably busy having his shoes shined as we spoke.  He immediately jumped on the negative bandwagon and let me know that they needed someone who was going to make those MTs toe the line and get their production up (clearly not anyone like me who might have some ideas about how to get production up without threatening and intimidating the MTs).  They clearly have all gone down this rediculous path...  and think most MTs are just trying to get away with something and don't want to work.  Not very rational thinking on their part.  MTs want to work.  They just want to get paid for it.  I'm so sick of it.  I see it everywhere.  Other professions do not work like this, getting paid only for production.  Truth is it just doesn't make any sense and for the life of me I can't figure out how any of them can tell themselves they are making an honest living and claiming to manage something they don't have a clue about.  Why the heck doesn't someone come up with some ideas about what will actually work.  This work is not going away no matter what they say.  I don't see much progress in speech recognition and the send to India thing isn't working either.  They need us, they just don't seem to know it yet.  I'm not a work horse for corporate profits and silly barely out of high hot shot managers who think they know what they are doing.  Its just all getting so old.
I feel for you - I am too! I don't like to push my views on others
and to each his own, but I certainly wouldn't complain if I never had to touch a piece of bacon (ugh!) or raw meat again. I'm married to a meat lover.
Seriously. Advice to push his buttons was way out
of line - very dangerous - you meant well, and it may have worked for you, but that was way out of line. You have no idea of the gravity of this woman's situation, what edge this guy is at, and easily she could be killed - be logical, not emotional.
You have to push the transcribe button.

Maybe it's time to push for legislation to make

I didn't push hard with my Belkin, but
I hated how big it was and how my body didn't like it so well. I recently made the switch to the Kinesis Advantage from my Belkin, and I really, really like the Kinesis. It's so much smaller, the keys are really light to the touch, and I can set it in my lap, which I prefer to the desk. I would recommend the investment for the Kinesis if you can. Besides the thumb keys being the greatest invention ever, the number split is at 5 and 6 like on the Belkin. If you look for a reburbished Kinesis Advantage, it will save $60. It has the same warranty as the brand new one. Mine is a refurb, but it's good as new.
WHAT? Does ex-text do that? These companies push so hard for VR, there has to....
be a great advantage to them. I hear of girls doing 3000 to 4000 lines a day but have never talked personall to one. I couldn't , too much editing of sentences left out, doctors who have the habit of changing commplete sentences, sending you back up a report to add this this and that. Geez, that is not counting the a, the changing from the to that, a to an, on and on ad nauseum.
Does BOS 3 now not push a dash between things like 3-cm incision or
what is the rule for this.  I dont have BOS 3 but I do have BOS2.
They dont need to cheat now since they have lowered all the lines pay and will probably push like
crazy now to get everything they can on ASR.
Gatorade ... push it. He is dehydrated maybe with that weight loss.

My office did not allow feedback. They just wanted us to push the numbers. They just did not care.
They don't care if you get it or not as long as it is fixed by QA.
EMR is part of a big government push for decreasing errors in healthcare..sm

the newer generation of doctors is very comfortable with point and click. They do their banking by internet, etc. As the older docs retire, there will be less and less actual dictation. Some fields don't transfer readily to EMR, for example, the ER doesn't like it because you "can't tell the story" with a point and click.  Another big advantage of the EMR is you can search the data. When Celebrex and other Cox-2 inihibitors were pulled off the market, all the EMR docs had to do was search the records for a match and they could then call all patients on these drugs to get them in and explain what was going on. They also will check for drug reactions within prescriptions, etc. That's why the government is pushing for EMR. Not to mention it will help build that insurance data base...I'm sure their lobbyists are pushing hard for that too.

If is difficult to work in a recliner and push a foot pedal. It can
be done but creates a strain on your feet/ankles and slows you down.  I work on a picnic table under an awning when the weather is nice, but I'm not able to work as well as I do at my desk because I'm not able to have a keyboard tray and working with my keyboard on the table makes it too high.  I've even tried work in bed using a tray across my lap, but then again you have the problem with pushing the foot pedal.   You could use the keyboard for your function keys but it would really slow you down.
Good luck. See what luck they're having on the

If only we were that luck!!
The web-based email progam SUCKS!!  but no, I'm not saying I hate MQ....in fact, I love working for MQ.  I'm simply saying the new email program sucks and I wish they'd never started it!
Wish I had that luck
Have had them since September and have been on the phone with them about 6 times since. Either my Outlook has errors or no internet and sometimes both. Each time they ended up having to assign me a new ISP #. I had Adelphia and switched to save a few bucks. Seriously considering going back as Adelphia is the only other DSL in my area.
No such luck...

The tech support guy at the MT office attempted to help me 2 days ago, but he couldn't figure it out either.  He was the one that suggested the system restore.  I am quite frustrated at this point to say the least.

As I said, best of luck to you! sm
You are fortunate and you know it.  You are blessed.  Have a great day!
Best of luck to you as well!
Interesting how people can see things so differently. I see my new profession as a way of helping animals get well and being kind to them.

I hated MT and am so glad to finally be out of that profession that I found to be way too solitary as well as unfulfilling. You, on the other hand, see it in a different way and enjoy it.

Very cool how we both found our perfect fit!
Thanks...I really did luck out!

I wish you the best of luck. sm
It is not easy going it alone. Please don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. I am praying for your peace, as well. Let us all know how things are going. Take care of yourself.
Best of Luck
There are so many great people here...we are your support system, so use it if you need to. PLEASE. Are you taking a laptop so you can stay in touch?

I Wish You Luck
I'm sending good wishes and prayers for you that everything works out. I'm sorry you don't have the support you need within your own family, but you have the support of people on MTStars
Not having luck
I appreciate hearing that, but I have been told by recruiters that I would probably only be able to do clinic work aside from ER without further training. I have a few discharge summaries with OPS notes that did include much unfamiliar terminology, and I had to leave blanks. If the dictators would speak clearly, I could just look it up, but that's a dream that won't come true LOL!
Did you have any luck?? nm

I wish I had such luck as you. nm

Everyone wish me luck, getting rid of AT&T
As of this morning, have signed up everything (except cell cause Charter does not carry) with someone other than the nickel and dimer, AT&T. I wrote them an email yesterday and do you think I got an answer? No. I am told their internet is much faster than what I have been used to and keeping fingers crossed. You know sometimes it is hard to change because you do not want to mess up and jump out of the frying pan into the fire. The issue of telling me at the first place I had to have land phone - even though I could not use- they would charge me a nomimal fee- so I could have my internet just sucks big time. That is the end for me. Getting the new provider hooked up 12/31 - just in time for the new year.
Best of luck to you. sm
Looking back 20 years that is how we screwed up - going home to work.  I would jump at the chance to make what I made with bennies 20 years ago and no "middle man" involved.  Good Luck!
No luck with BBB
I filed a complaint with the BBB last year when I didn't receive payment from Four Seasons Transcription as an IC. They can't help. Best thing is to either proceed to small claims court or hire an attorney. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of choices. I went to small claims court and got resolution. I would start there.
Luck?--Please! SM
That 11 cents includes incentive pay for high line production and requires this level of production over a week's period.

You know, working good and steady at a real job, which this is, just isn't punishment for many of us.

AND, a big plus of production pay is that you're actually paid more for working more. I spent years on a set wage where slugs slopping along through their shifts took home as much as those of us who were doing an excellent job because we couldn't stand to do anything else. And everyone's wages were relatively low, reflecting all that time so many spent spent chatting and goofing off. Now I'm paid a lot more equitably for the work I do. As are many of the complainers on this forum. (Those with genuine problems not related to laziness not included.)

Anyone ever have luck..,. sm

just sending out their resume with a letter to various doctors/clinics?  I have a lot of experience in, and enjoy doing, podiatry work but it doesn't seem to be something a lot of big MTSOs are looking for.  I can do the other work, but I am able to get much higher production doing Podiatry.

Anyone have luck going about it this way?

Anyone know any companies looking for someone with Podiatry experience?

THANKS!

Good luck. We each do what is best for us. nm

Good luck!
I used to be on MedRite with MQ-- loved it and it was SO easy-- then they switched to DocQScribe.  I haven't been able to make my line counts any more like I used to.  I work much longer and much harder and wish MedRite was back.  The other night, I had to a split job-- the lovely doctor batched three preop H & Ps.  I got the first two OK, then the last one never came to me.  I had to call the office, girl there said I "needed to call the techs"-- which I did.  I was on "ignore" for 35 minutes (I timed it) before a real person answered the phone-- only to be told that he couldn't do anything and I had to call the office.  Another call to the office-- the girl said she got a "system error" and still couldn't give it back to me.  Now if that would have been MedRite, I could have just gone back to the job myself and retrieved it and had it finished and over with.  But I guess that's PROGRESS.
Good luck

I have been in many hurricaines, living on the east coast, but nothing like Katrina.  Good luck to you.

You're welcome. Best of luck.
Take care
I just sent it. Good luck!

Good luck!
I wish you luck because having a baby and getting to stay at home with it is very rewarding.

In my opinion, having the experience of working at a hospital is definitely in your best interest. If I were you, you could go to the local job seeker's board here or go to MTjobs.com and apply.

You will do fine!

Best of luck to you and the baby!

Best of luck to you, my friend!
Can't go wrong if you're educated.

What do you think, management posting again because they are so desperate for help???
I agree with everyone else. TAKE IT and best of luck to you (nm)

Good luck!
We have a lot of drama in my family also, so I totally feel for you there. Ironically, the holidays seemed to be the only time everyone was nice to each other when we were younger. Now, we all live so far apart we are lucky to get together once a year. We are all so different!
Good luck with 10 cpl...sm

In the last three years going through the hiring process twice I have never seen more than 8 cpl with five years experience.  I wish 10 cpl, but you just don't see it.  If you are acute care you may get more, but I do clinic work.

Good luck. sm

Wal Mart knows what it is doing. They are very generous with donations to local communities and the local governments eat it right up.

As I posted above, our local Wal Mart, which was obviously thriving, just had to move across town to open one of those obscene Super Wal Marts and built it directly behind Kmart and a large supermarket.  Kmart  and the supermarket are hanging in there, but I don't really see it lasting much longer.

I used to go to the old Wal Mart for office supplies, but I'll pay the extra buck or two now.

Just the way the store layout goes ought to tell you something. If you want to go in and grab some food and you need dog food, cat food or shampoo too, you need to walk all the way to the other end of the enormous place, passing all the "bargains" in between.

Like I said, they know what they're doing. The sad part is that the majority of the general public actually want a Wal Mart.

Good thing is that when our Super Wally World first opened there were major traffic jams and no parking spaces, but even during the holidays the hub bub had died down considerably and you could get in and out of there in a jiffy.

Okay, I admit I went there at Christmas. It was the only place in the state that had any Q20's left.

Well, just an update - no luck still
I tried numerous adware/spyware programs until I found one that actually detected DealHelper in my computer.  I pulled out the old credit card and bought the dang thing and one would assume it would have deleted it during the scan but nope still there.  It is listed under my programs in add/delete programs taking up 2292 MB of space and every time I try to uninstall it it says "Installation Log File Not Found" and the title of the window says "Ghost Uninstaller".  I am admittedly ignorant about these things but I currently have 3 or 4 programs on my computer for spyware/adware cleaning now and nothing is removing it.  Just a word of warning to others I suppose that this is a nasty adware program - it self replicates obviously and I have no idea where i got it   Thanks for all the advice though...30.00 poorer and probably 10 hours of my life I'll never get back working on this crap.  Yikes!
Thanks! Good luck with yours too!
See a pain management specialist if you can. They are right up there with God in my book! Again, good luck Laurie. I have to take my meds and get to bed. Tomorrow is another day.... Nice chatting with you. How is the work in Seattle?
Good luck

I have no real advice as I have the same problem. You would think our hands would get hot as it seems they are busy.  It must be something about the rest of our arm staying still.

I had DeQuervains about 10 years ago. and occasionally get tendinitis in my thumb when I am sewing a lot.  I have had hip joint achiness (maybe bursitis? who knows) from time to time since 1990.  Doing MT 35-40 hrs per week is probably not the best idea for me in light of all of this.  I'm fairly new to it and think this will be a temporary career for me. I thought sedentary work would be easy on my body - wrong!  I think my body needs variety.  I'm only 35 and between the tendon/synovial/joint problems and the Raynauds, I feel much older than 35 if I don't take care of myself physically. Right now as a matter of fact, my right wrist is starting to ache on the ulnar side and I have logged only 27 hours so far this week. Time for some Aleve.

Hope your hand feels better soon.

Good luck to you too!

To finishing up your BSN!

good luck to you!!

That sounds great, good luck to you!  That has been one concern of mine too for MT'ing solely as a career, the uncertainties of the futuring of MT'ing.  The different possibilites of nursing are very appealing. I have thought about becoming a NP eventually too, as well as what I mentioned earlier, doing some operating room nursing or possibly nursing research, I really like all the different growth opportunites and possibilites of nursing. Email me too anytime!
