Don't be under the assumption that credentialing
means the Transcriptionist is "better" in some way. As far as pay, I have NEVER, EVER seen a substantial difference in pay rates or an employer who will only hire credentialed. Don't get me wrong, credentialing is a good idea as it lends professionalism to our field but unless we are united, get credentialed and then demand better pay for the expense and education of being credentialed, what's the point?

How dare you assume I only thought about myself - I am such a HUGE humanitarian/philanthropist.......and also have children but I made sure they have triple citizenship (3 countries) if China comes here....their Dad is European and I'm ancestried in the Middle East......so you know nothing about ME/MINE.

QA people love to gloat, and if they can't do that, then they avoid the situation.
I'm going to make an assumption and say you are probably female.
And I don't mean that in any disparaging sort of way. I'm also female! But I'm the youngest of seven children, and the only girl. My three children are all boys (16, 17 and 18 yrs old). I volunteer with the boy scouts of america... in short, I spend a lot of time in "a man's world".
That being said, I can't say that any of the men I know would think twice about this situation. Women do, however, add in all sorts of emotional issues to their decision-making. "What will my current boss think?" "I'll feel awful if I hurt his/her feelings." You can read it in lots of posts on these boards.
Well, there's a great theme in "The Godfather": It's only business. There's nothing personal. If you have a great opportunity before you, go for it! You have to do what's right for you and your family. Employers know that new employees will sometimes leave their jobs. That's part of the reason that probationary periods are required for new employees.
Don't feel bad about it. Take the emotional what-will-they-think part out of the equation, and apply for the other job if you think it's a better opportunity.
