thanks (small message)
just that I posted the link in the subject line and it was too long...no problem, though! thanks!
See the message above about small churches.

It is an okay deal - TR 11 font is small. Not as good a deal as Courier.
Personally, I would have to think really hard and compare reports and line counts, like the other poster below suggested, before I would jump right into it. It is probably 75-80 characters to a line +/- the single character lines you get for initials, and 2 word lines you get with op reports such as Surgeon:
IV Fluids:
Anesthesia:
etc.
It probably is comparable to 9 cpl with a larger font.
Good luck in whatever you decide.
Good Luck!
or no message, small message - whatever SM
any indication there is no need to waste time opening the post.
it is irritating also when people type through the subject line as well as the name line and then do not indicate if it is worth pursuing.
sm is see message not small message. I almost always
put NM or nt if there is no message, but quite a lot of people still open the posts as evidenced by the number of views.
(that's supposed to be 'small message' above, not just small) NM

Keeping small children at home will cost you more than paying a daycare ... see message
If you are really committed to working, then transcription can be beneficial. It is not a job where you can attend to your children at the same time you work, you either work or you attend to your children. You make choices.
I would recommend this career field - I make 50,000 a year working 6 hours a day. It is still good if you work it.
Format, Font, Choose Font, Style Size & Color
.
Make sure you find out what font and font size
.
Format, Font, pick the font you want,
click the Default button. It will ask if you want to change...say yes.
Ask what font, font size and margins are
Then you can figure out how many characters would be in a complete line of text. I am not sure if I am explaining this very well. :-( I worked for one place that had a small font size and small margins. So it did not work out for me as each line averaged closer to 70 characters, and there were not many lines that had only one or two words on them because of the set up.
small mentality usually means small pocketbook
Still make more than you and I but that is deserved. They've put the effort forward and educated themselves.
Venting-why do people keep putting nm and THEN writing a message?? nm means no message - sm
Please put sm if you have a message and NM if there is no message other than your subject line. It makes it easier when reading these messages. thanks so much and have a nice day everyone.
Font
only when using a method other than character count, such as gross lines or straight lines. Otherwise, size makes no difference (in transcription . . . LOL)
Font
Font has nothing to do with line count.
font changes
try selecting all text in the template, then while it is all highlighted change your font to what you want- then re-save template and that should do it
font changes
the easiest and surest way to make sure you are changing the entire template is to do go through edit and select all- this will pick up hidden formatting as well

LOVE the new font...THANK YOU!
It's so much easier on middle-aged eyes.
Guess I am, too. I don't like the big font at all. nm
tiny font
Something is wrong here. It sounds like this board shows up in huge font on YOUR end, but it is about an 8 font on my computer. The main board, job seeker's board, and compary board show up tiny for me, but the other boards look about 12-14 font, which is MUCH better!
font size
When paid by cpl, does it affect your line count if you type in a size 10 or size 12 font?
Font size
I have an account and they did not indicate a font size - I know that it makes a big difference the more that you have bolded in a report - what would be a reasonable font size or the standard font size to use?
font does matter
if you are on a gross line account, like me, font does matter. I am "required" to use a 12 point font and no more or less, and it does make a difference in the line count...but then again, gross line ends up paying more than 65 character lines!
Font size
I have read with interest the thread on font size. Now I know why one company allows you to transcribe in one font and then it gets printed in another - which is much smaller - which does make it harder to get your lines. I thought that it was me - but could not understand until I saw what was getting printed and counted, as to why it was so difficult to get a good line count when I had always done so in the past. Is this not in some way misrepresentation? You see what looks like a nice report and then when it gets printed it is so small that you can hardly read it - this also messes with the end of your lines and sentences - where if you make a hard page break on what is on your computer screen it comes up as something different on the copied version on the other side. All of the info offered was good and this is a good point to make when looking at work - especially if you are new and do not know anything different.
I think you would specify the font or renegotiate

change font
I have several accounts that use different fonts, one Arial 10, one Times Roman and one Univers and when I do my invoicing I just highlight and change the entire document to Courier 12. All the docs are aware that my cpl that I quoted was based on using the font Courier 12. I have never in 18 years been questioned or challenged on an invoce or line count. Easy enough to do. Takes 2 seconds to do it. Patti
font size
If you are counting by dividing characters by 65 characters, no matter what font you use it will be the same. However if you count by gross line -- line charge no matter how many words on a line you will lose money. But if it is by by every 65 characgers (including spaces) you could use an 8, 9 or 12 font and the charge will all be the same.
font size
Every place I've ever worked or worked for has a default font. You can have text on your screen set at newspaper headline size (like my MT friend who has macular degeneration) and it'll usually default to their 11- or 12-pt font. I'm sure every hospital or MTSO's software specs are different, though.
Font question
When I hold down the control key and scroll the mouse wheel to enlarge the font in EXText, does it change the way the document is seen once it's sent or is the change only on my desktop. Sorry but I'm very technically challenged.
regarding smaller font
I will type in any size font that they want, use what ever margins that they want but when I do my line count I change the document back to Courier 12 and use my usual margins. I tell them up front that my charge per line is on Courier 12 with 1" margins on sides. No one has every questioned me for this. They can have as many characters they want on a line in whatever font that they want but not for my line count. Saves me on my sticky paper and so I don't care. But have been doing this for years and am very upfront about what my definition of a line is and yes I do gross lines.
Does anyone know how to change font
When I read web pages everywhere, the font is huge and I do not know how I ended up with it this way? Does anyone know how I change it? I have AOL.
Thanks!
font size
I think you just go under view and change the text size to whatever you want it to be.
FONT QUESTION
Do most services use a Times New Roman 12 font? I was told by the service I might be signing on with that I could not use Courier New 12. I use this font size due to my eyesight.
what is your font size set at??
The zoom feature will not affect the size of the printing font, but the font size will. Make sure it is at least 12.
Font size
When I highlight the text it is in the font size I want, but when I insert the autotext it makes the font smaller.
The font has nothing to do with the length
of a line, that is set by the margins. A 65-character count line is a line, whether the line itself has 55 characters or 85 characters. It takes 65 to make a line.
Can you change the font??
I've been typing for this doctor for about ten years. He recently changed the email address where I sent my finished work, and is having some new girls put the notes in the chart. They just asked me if I could switch my font. I looked at a file, and in switching the font, I lost 300 lines. How would you handle this? My husband told me to tell them I'll send it and they can put it in whatever font the want it in. I know that may change the formatting somewhat and make it not look right. What the heck?!
Yes, a larger font would be more comfortable. Thx! nm
,
Sorry. Got cut off. Nothing I do can increase the font size.
x
change your font by going to "view"...
then "text size" and change the text size to larger. (I think)
Can't please everyone although we try. The majority like the larger font.
Font size! I never knew.
What an eye opener. I did not realize this was happening. Thanks for the info to all who submitted to the font thread.
AutoCorrect only saves the font if . . .
you check formatted text when making an entry. Otherwise the font is whatever you are using at the time you use the entry. You shouldn't have to have multiple entries just for different fonts.
Now, if an entry needs to be bolded or italicized, then you need to check formatted text for that to come up when you use that particular entry. It's the same for multiple-line addresses - check formatted text or you will get one long line with ** instead of a line break.
Truth be told, AutoCorrect is actually a fine Expander until you get to about 5000 entries. Then it may get a bit boggy.
Which font if charging by page?
I am doing something very different from my usual transcription. They want it single space and a different format. I am using Courier New 10 and it looks like they are getting a heck of a lot on the page for what I am charging - I am working for ZIP with this setup. Can anyone tell me what font to use, this is so small when I print it, that I can barely read it, my eyes are killing me as well. Help! You can E-mail me if you wish, I am very, very tired, 12 hour days on this with little to show for it.
Font instructions inside (sm)
Under View on your menu bar at the top Click on View, Select Text Size, and then make your adjustment. I hope this helps!
Font and line counts
Here's another question in this regard. A friend of mine always worked in-house and they were allowed to use Courier New 12. She is now working for a service where the font is Times New Roman 12. She finds that her line counts are half of what they were when using Courier New 12. Does this sound right? This service said that they were paying her for a 65-character line with spaces. I am wondering if they are really paying her without spaces. Maybe this is the difference in line count. Any ideas of why such a difference in line count?
