I declutter on Wed nights so the cleaning lady can clean on Thursday morning

It's easier for her to do her job if she doesn't have to pick up my kids slop. Heck, if I wasn't so busy picking up all the time, I'd have time to do the cleaning myself.

I clean my house every other wednesday for the cleaning lady :)
/
I absolutely have a cleaning lady - sm
about $65 bucks every two weeks, she does all the hardwood floors throughout my house, bathrooms from top to bottom (with bleach), dusts and vacuums. All the "big" stuff that I never do since I'd rather work and make money than clean my house.
"Ethical" pay for my cleaning lady...sm
I write her a check each and every month to her business name. She does her OWN accounting and pays her own taxes and things on earnings and such. As she is not my personal employee, my accountant has advised me that it is the same thing as paying our lawn service yearly, which means I do NOT need fill out a 1099 for her as I don't do it for TruGreen/ChemLawn or any other service provider for our home when we need it. I do not pay her cash and I hope this ends this discussion. She used to work at a local firm for $6.25 an hour before starting her own business (yes she is American). I pay her what she bills me for as well as Holiday bonuses (yes in cash as it is a gift not a fee) and I also pay her 4 times per year and give her the day off - we go to lunch instead and I foot the bill. It saddens me to see this discussion go so far downhill regarding pay, tax evasion, etc. I am thankful she does what she does for our family and she is thankful there are people like me who employ her to do what she loves to do. Have a great weekend ladies (and gents)! I'm glad I got a chance to look through here and set the record straight.
declutter, etc
So sorry for your cancer diagnosis. Don't know what kind you have been diagnosed with -- I was diagnosed with breast cancer about 5-1/2 years ago - certainly wasn't expecting THAT as I had no symptoms, etc. Am doing fine now. Just wanted to give you some encouragement and hope. Take care of yourself and wish you well. If you have any questions or anything, I'll be glad to email you.
Cleaning up after one's self and cleaning up after strangers are two different issues
Nice try though
I've found the answer and how to declutter.
Get diagnosed with cancer. Got the diagnosis yesterday and today I've been going through the house like the Tazmanian devil. I'm throwing stuff away, boxing stuff up to go to Goodwill and Freecyling some stuff. We were in serious need of a Clean Sweep (though I never would do it because I'd be too embarrassed that I let my house get like that). I know it is a bit of an overreaction, but both of my parents died and didn't have things in order and I was left to deal with it all and don't want the same for my family. I also don't want to look at the clutter anymore and want my house to be relaxing and not be afraid to open my door when the doorbell rings. It also helps keep my mind occupied. I only made a teeny, tiny dent in the clutter, but at least it was progress. I also don't want my kids growing up thinking that our house is "normal." I have boys and I don't think their future wives would appreciate a slob for a husband.
"mean lady, ice lady, flaming monsters"
watch others feel hurt? from my computer? locked away? huh? you have clearly let your imagination run away with any powers of logic you may have had. sad.
Morning baby, morning adult. Kids born at 11:30AM (both) are night owls, however. Go figure! :) nm

Thursday at 10
//
Since 1/31 was on a Thursday...
I would wait a couple more days.
You could also call the office and ask if they have been sent out and when. I know the PO managed to destroy one of my DD's in their automated equipment and sent the pieces to us so we would know what happened and could call to ask that a new one be reissued. It took a week for my son's tuition 1098 to arrive from his college.
They only have to be postmarked by 1/31, not delivered.
BB Thursday night.
It was Howie (sniff). And Janelle is the new HoH.
I work Thursday through (sm)
Monday - both Saturday and Sunday evenings for me, by choice. It works best for my schedule and I'm paid better for it.
I do this on both Thursday and Friday . . .
Do you do this every night or just on Fridays? If it's just on Fridays, probably not (nor would I probably even be aware of it).
Thursdays as well, since the work that comes in after 5 isn't due until Monday morning.
Hospitals have a rhythm. Does your way of ensuring turnaround mean that almost every job you have is over 10 minutes, leaving all the 1 and 2 minute 'nuisance' reports in the queue? Do all the ops remain in the queue (I'm a fan of the work type, but not everybody is)? I'm reaching annoyance stage.
I get both long and shorter jobs.
Again with the rhythms- Are there particularly egregious dictators that you get to essentially ignore because they're morning birds while Dr. Chatty Easylines and Dr. Joe Makinbigbucks routinely dictate 1500 lines, which for them entails a total of 4 hours of typing combined) at about 7:00 each evening. Yeh, now I'm PO'd.
All the dictators on this particular account have their jobs come in at various times. I get the good, the bad and the ugly . . . just like everybody else.
Are you then one of those people that wil come on here and gloat about how on average you type 400-500 lines/hour and make roughly $25/hour, can't understand why all transcriptionists can't do it, and suggest we tinker and modify our expansion program so we can be as good as you? Be thankful the internet is anonymous because otherwise I'd know if you worked for my company and I would be kicking up a fuss like you wouldn't believe.
I make good money, but I don't come on here and "gloat." I've been with my company for many years. They are happy with the work I do. Also, I work every weekend day to do those jobs I take. The other MTs at my company do not want to work weekends. I also work nights AND during the day. I have a flexible schedule, but I work a lot because I want to make a lot.
Ok, maybe I should just stay in bed LOL How about "every morning" not everyone morning. Wow. C
Get paid for Thursday and Friday!!
I work hourly plus incentive for a medical specialty clinic and I get paid for both Thursday and Friday. I also get paid for half days on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve as well as both holidays. It being a clinic I also don't have to work weekends unless I choose to in order to make up for time off during the week. My hourly pay is pretty sucky but the benefits are great.
Boy, I had one of those on Thursday and it has continued for 5 days now! LOL!!!
Doesn't it just make you want to toss EVERYTHING out the window and go shopping? No, wait a minute, can't do that because we can't connect to work in order to get paid to make money.......yep, it's Monday!
Thursday is when my computer was hacked...sm
It is costing me $250 to fix it. I bought a backup tower to have while the other one is being fixed.
I am going to have my son present this on Thursday for his position paper in Govt class.
One way to get people, even though they're seniors in high school besides the teacher, to become aware of this situation. Because it's not just the VA, it's every record that goes overseas, and Mr. Messiah Obama, et. al., fail to understand that or address it.
I'm on Nights
I just can't "turn into" a morning person. My schedule is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., but it's very flexible. I don't have kids, but I live with my mom at the moment and she hates my schedule since she works days. I love it. I work days occasionally, but I get SO tired in the middle of the day, and when I work nights, I can stay up for a lot longer. I love working at night; it's quiet, I can't distract myself because I have to BE quiet, I don't spend all day awake by myself while Mom's at work, etc...I don't have much of a night life, though. That's a good thing, however, since I'm single and not really one to go out on the town.
With the heat, I'm going to try nights
I think my favorite account is getting cleaned out first thing AM, so I'm going to try nights for a bit. Starting now!
Those of you who do nights regularly, any secrets to staying perky?
I work nights
from 5pm to wee hours. I'm home every day with the kids. I do get child support for my 16 y/o and my "BF" and I have not yet discussed about the two little ones. I am hoping time will be split as 50/50 as we can get it as he works days, I work nights.
Tue thru Sat, nights, so it ends up being Tue thru Sun. nm

Italian, like most nights.
Spaghetti with red sauce. Salad. I'm tired.
I work nights....
I usually split my shift so I can have a break...8 hours straight gets rough for me sitting and typing. I usually work 5-9 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. I go to bed at around 6 a.m. usually, it's still a little dark then and easier to get to sleep. I am single though and don't have kids. I don't think I could do my schedule otherwise. The good aspect is that I never run out of work and I make extra money for working the shifts. Plus I am not now, never have been and never will be a morning person, so I like not having to have an alarm wake me up. The bad is it's easy to be a hermit some days working the opposite of most of the rest of the world, lots of things wake me up (lawn mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, UPS, if I forget to turn my phone off and people are aghast that they woke me up and it's NOON?!?!?) Fortunately I have a supervisor who will let me flex my hours if I have family in town or something else going on. If I ever actually get a LIFE (socialy speaking), I will probably have to modify my hours, but for right now it fits me pretty well and the extra money is definitely nice.
Yes I do work nights
I can and do work when the work is available vs competing for work during popular hours/days. I worked nights inhouse too, because I'm a night person. And I work weekends. Not all of us are princesses that insist on prime days/hours!
Does MQ pay shift differential for nights?
My company doesn't. My want to apply there.
Thanks, will do. About 3 nights ago my Norton caught
Did you notice the Feb 3 date? That would be this coming Friday. Wonder how our various transcription companies are going to fare? ugh. I hope they don't crash.
Anyone else crazy enough to work nights with a..
family?? Considering changing shifts, but have only personally known other MTs working nights because their spouse did and had no kids, etc. Spouse works regular days, 3 kids...am I asking for trouble? lol If any of you out there manage this...how do you work out on the weekends on your days off? No way it would work around here with me sleeping most of the day and leaving hubby to tend to 3 kids alone! Is it too hard to flip schedules between weekdays/weekends? Thanks for any input.
I hate theme nights because
the contestants try to do the artist proud but don't make the songs their own. Karaoke as Simon puts it.
Who should go home? Kevin and/or Melissa, do they kick off 1 or 2 tonight? These 2 are definitely inferior to the rest of the performers. Bucky is running my close third for getting the boot. I really like him, but I don't think he's got what it takes for different song styles that will be coming down the line.
TOP 3: Chris, Mandisa and Taylor.
I've tried that the past few nights
it gets WAY too frosty!! :)
Hang in there. There will be days or nights
like this sometimes. Most likely they rebooted the system and old junk that got left behind from cherry picking got stuck in the cues. I have worked late at night and that has happened, especially since less people work at night. I am thinking it is not you, just got stuck on a night they updated the jobs. Hang in there. If they have a good reputation, odds are someone else will get stuck next time when the get the old jobs which are stuck and left undone. And remember, what goes around comes around. One day hopefully soon you will get all good reports to balance these out. Good luck.
That was in a movie right? He looks great on award nights.
I like him because he seems to be focused on the part he plays and not on looking good and in some movies, especially the pirate movie, he looked not so good but was hilarious. He doesn't seem Hollywood to me all propped up and doing the guest appearances to promote his movies.
I just switched to nights and found I like it alot.
I get a nicer variety of reports so I don't get bored. I keep the tv on behind me but don't watch it. No interruptions, no phone, no kids or hubby, although my kids are all out of high school. They still tend to interrupt. The dogs are sleeping so I don't have to let them out. I do open a window for some of that gorgeous night air. I only need about 6-7 hours of sleep, so I hit the hay when I am done and sleep for around 4 hours, get up and do a few things, then conk out again for 2-3 hours later. It seems to be working out.
I'm crazy enough to work nights with two schnauzers. sm
They wake me up promptly at noon - I open my eyes, and they are both staring a hole through my head. If I don't respond, Mollie claws at me, and Toby licks me in the face. I get up, let them out, then I go back to bed for a couple of hours.
I can't wait until we buy a house and are able to fence the yard! (or buy one with a fenced yard).
1. He works nights. 2. I work days
Ah, but the weekends. . . ..
Yeah, working nights would be great if
the rest of the world was on that shift!!
I just switched back to days after 5 or more years of graveyard. I loved it except for what you mentioned.
My only suggestion to the OP would be try to stay up the entire night before you start working, sleep that day, and then work your shift. That way, you will start getting you internal clock used to those hours.
It's not easy, so be patient. It will take about a week, maybe a little longer to get used to it. You'll probably feel a little fatigued and sluggish, but just try to hang in there. And don't be scared. I remember when I first started working graveyard, I had this feeling like I should NOT be awake right now. I felt physically okay, but emotinoally I felt like I was not doing something right... don't really know how to explain it...
Anyhow, good luck!!

Tired all the time and sleepy during the day even after an eight hour nights rest. Does anyone else
have this problem? Is it a vitamin deficiency in age 40 and over?
Just got back on a Timeshare trip - cost - 200 and included 3 nights hotel
and tickets to a bunch of free stuff! It was fun. Was it worth it? I am not sure! We got hounded pretty bad about 'buying a timeshare' but it was very affordable! Beautiful place too!
LOVE ER!!! I watch the re-runs every day, and watch the new ones on Thursday night!!

Cleaning
Why do you do this? If a dish is left on the counter above the dishwasher, I call the guilty party to the kitchen and make them put it in the dishwasher. I will even call them to come home from a friends house to do this. The guilty party has to be responsible for their own mess. I have even gotten the kids out of bed, to pick-up after themselves. Believe me, doing this just a few times works wonders for getting them to be responsible for their own messes. Also, my kids have chores, including running the vacuum, that they have to do. A lot of my friends say it is just so much easier to do it themselves and at first, it is. But the kids will never learn to do it right if they don't start somewhere. Even if you have them do it initially and then you go over it, after they go to bed, and do it a little better, they have to start somewhere. You can only be used as a maid if you let yourself be used that way.
how about cleaning
up for small businesses/offices/clinics. You might know of somebody in your town who can give you a referral. Somebody from church maybe?
clean
I already thought of that, but I hear they aren't worth crap.
sometimes have to clean
you know you can take the ball out and clean it? If not, turn mouse over and twist plate direction of arrows.
have you tried the can of air to clean it?
this is a post I just read:
My Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard is quite nice. The keys are all attached to the front of the keyboard. Just unscrew the back and the front lifts up with all the keys. On the bottom part of the keyboard remains the rubber/silicon and circuit board, which can be sprayed off. I then submerge the top keyboard in scalding hot soapy water to clean it.
First I will be cleaning like a madwoman
because my in-laws are coming. I think we will have a traditional family barbecue and maybe head to the beach.
cleaning sofa
I have a white sofa and have cleaned it myself many times. You can rent a Rug Doctor with an upholstery attachment and it is really powerful. Your sofa will hardly be even damp when you finish. You can use regular upholstery cleaner in the Rug Doctor or sometimes I use Simply Green. Try the Rug Doctor. It really works. Linda.
cleaning keyboard
Gosh, I cant believe you did that and it didnt destroy your keyboard! I know in the past when I have even dropped a minute amount of water on my keyboard the keys would no longer work. I am always afraid of having water near my keyboard so much so that when I work, I keep my soda glass way on the other side of the keyboard. I know there is a spray to clean the keyboard as my previous boss woiuld use it constantly. I would probably go with that as with my luck over the past five years or so, I dont want to *rock the boat*, ya know? :o)
