They outsource to India... go figure
We all lost our jobs a few years back when Dell made the decision to close all the call centers and send the work over to India. They are "programmed" not to fix the problem, but to get you off the phone as quickly as possible. Their answer to everything is to format and reinstall. I was with them for over 2 years before we got the ax. If anybody ever needs help with their Dell, just "yell."
On a side note, I had to laugh when I saw an article in Reader's Digest about Mr. Dell and all the "great things he is doing for the US." If people only knew....
Looking into nursing. I figure you can't outsource the..sm
people you take care of. I did billing for a hospital before I got into transcription. At this point I don't think it would pay enough for most of us, it was considered an entry level position where I worked. I don't know if that has changed or not.
It doesn't upset me but - sm
it seems to have upset you. If you try to look at the perspective of a company hiring someone with a felony convinction, can't you even just a little bit see that they may have a concern for the liability exposure? I don't know or care to know what conviction occured, when it occured, if it's water under the bridge or a longstanding habit. Those things don't factor into it (at least for me). Try to get a state pharmacy technician's license from your state board of pharmacy and see if you aren't turned down flatly for that conviction no matter how long ago it was.
The point is this: I'm sorry if you feel people don't understand you but hey, they didn't commit any criminal offenses, minor or felonies. I'm sorry you have this scarlet letter to wear, but you did come on here to post about it and now you are upset. A better understanding of the business world - in MT or out - could help you deal with your future.
Doesn't upset me either.

A hot meal, ready to eat is perfect and it doesn't
have to be fabulous. A meatloaf with some veggies made all together in a throwaway pan is easy to make.
Consider that this is a discussion forum and not a job. Posting doesn't have to be perfect.

you know as couples go, angelina and billy bob were perfect skanks for each other. perfect!
i suspect they may get back together because they are both so skanky no one else can keep up. that is unless she decides she wants her brother more which is skankier.
That THEY DO NOT outsource!

NO MDI-MD does NOT outsource NM

no outsource
I honestly don't think they're going to go to outsourcing any time soon. Besides...I'm not going to be at this hospital for years and years. My husband is graduating from college in June and we may be relocating after that. I'm just wondering if I should ask for a raise for the extra work that I put in, or at least a bonus or some sort of recognition or compensation.
OUTSOURCE OVERSEAS
and you will be begging for work. get ready to brown-nose to get enough money to live on.
good luck. you could do much better.
They outsource to India
They are funded by George Soros (look him up-- he has big bucks, is very "global", and has bankrupted a lot of foreign countries). Look at the two articles on the MT News board about Spheris. If you like all the new MQ rules and regulations, you will love Spheris, as they have all the same ones. I checked into them about 6 months ago and said, "No, thanks".
Transcend does NOT outsource!
xx
so who types it? they only way around that would be to outsource
and that seems ridiculous.
Pretty soon they will outsource THAT
/
Nothing like a reminder that they outsource.
x
Because if they don't outsource presently...sm
they will do it some day. Is the bottom line the buck. Unfortunately!
If you can't outsource, then bring them here
Just stopping the flow of records overseas is not going to solve the problem. There is a special class of visa that industry can turn to if they cannot find enough American workers to do a job. This has been used for engineers, IT professionals and nurses among others. It is not necessarily that there are not Americans that can do the job, but that they will not do it for a low wage. We need to pay attention to the immigration debate as well. It isn't simply about poorly educated, low-skilled workers being involved in a guest worker program.
hospitals outsource because
they are sick of all the MT drama (as we can here on this board); therefore, there are not many in-house positions left ;)
hospitals outsource because
ooops...I meant "as we can SEE how much drama is going on here on this board"
reversing OUTSOURCE trend ?
that I will not make the money that the hospital pays me. But is it true - that outsourcing is being reversed? I'd love to hear that ... so many more options for decent employment would come our way.
THanks !
Does Transcend outsource overseas?
Thinking of applying with them as an IC. Anybody with any input?
They probably just outsource their tech work to there.

There was a discussion not long ago that they outsource
I was checking into them, but when I read all the controversy over their outsourcing (one person said the owner was from India, I believe), I changed my mind. I can't remember what all was said, but maybe you can go back about a month or so ago and find the conversation. Good luck with your search!
HP/Quicken/Norton outsource
I agree. My printer/fax machine died and had to get a new one. There was a piece in the way so that I could not get the ink in, so had to call Customer Service. Two hours later, with understanding only 1/3 of what he said, I finally got the information I needed. My computer crashed on me (not a good year), had to call HP and Norton, both of which use India for their Customer Service - finally went and bought a new computer as got no help. Couldn't get my Quicken loaded, so called the help desk, and guess what! He was not understanding my question/problem at all. It's like I cannot get into that part or I would not be asking for help! Finally, a friend of mine helped me and got into it so I could do a backup to restore my data. I am sick of this so-called "service", and sure hope American companies, hospitals in particular catch on soon before our whole world crashes down on us.
we were told how much the outsource service
gets paid every month from our overflow work - they get paid $48,000/month!!! A MONTH!!!! In the beginning, some of us were so mad that were coming in early and grabbing all the easy work and typing it as fast as we could just so it wouldn't get picked up by the outsource service. With our staff of 14 transcriptionists, plus the outsourcing, is it any wonder these hospitals are getting sick of having inhouse transcriptionists!
OUTSOURCE OF DMV RECORDS TO MEXICO
Check this out - it seems that the outsourcing is growing and growing. Now the DMV in Orange County, California is outsourcing to Mexico. It seems they are blaming the media for publicizing this, but not admitting to the potential for danger that this poses. See the link below:

Lawyer tells you how to outsource
Please don't send this to the gab board as this pertains to US, the US MQ employees:
Nationals who outsource to India
Will the nationals in this country face financial hardship if the Obama/Biden administration cuts tax incentives to companies who outsource their MT work to India?
I know of one company who outsources and they are not doing too well financially and their CEO resigned not to long ago, no reason given. I know a lot of MTs refuse to work for companies that outsource but many domestic MTs do work for them and maybe now is a time to bail out. Any thoughts???
US to outsource obesity to India....
With our jobs, come our problems.....very interesting article.

TransTech Medical does not outsource offshore.

Not all companies outsource and Spheris shouldn't be (sm)
your last hope for heaven sakes. By the way, your husband sounds like a real winner.
It's a service in the USA, but I hear they outsource to India.
So I'm not too hopeful about it. I'm going to at least talk to them, but like I said, I'm not too optimistic.
that's what these companies do, outsource from clinic/hospital

Tax breaks to companies that outsource overseas... tic tic tic
Apparently, the President has vowed to stop giving tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs overseas. That is a GREAT thing for MT's! Woohoo! Can't happen soon enough. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/15/obama.taxes/?iref=mpstoryview
Why are YOU attacking HER? Just because she doesn't want kids, doesn't mean she needs a psychi

This is very true. None of our local hospitals outsource their pathology, as far as I know. But...sm
I work for MQ's Seattle office and for a time was assigned to a pathology account there. I was always curious how/why they outsourced their pathology. Anyway, I quickly found it BORING (especially the gross dictations) and asked to be taken off the account because I made NO money (very short jobs + software slower than molasses = no money).
Hope this helps some.
there are NOT plenty of companies who don't outsource, directly or indirectly.
as for you calling others "idiots" your credibility is gone. hope you are careful where you shop and what you buy regarding your loyalty to not participating in companies who offshore. good luck. hope you have plenty of time and plenty of money.
Angry, this happened in our hospital with our outsource service - sm
we had not been checking the outsource service's work for months. Well, it came back to bite us in the ass, because low and behold there was a Transcriptionist that worked for the outsource service that could not type whatsoever - in fact, we even suspected that it was being offshored without our knowledge - that's how bad it was.
anyways, it came back to bite us in the ass because an outside doctor's office received a copy of a hospital dictation and it made us look stupid. So needless to say, we asked that this certain transcriptionist be taken off the account. It was our fault for not looking at the transcription services work, but then again, they guarantee accuracy and crap like that.
Maybe this is what happened in your situation. That all of a sudden the hospital decided to do a QA or some doctor finally read his dictation.
Don't be hard on yourself. You will get the hang of it.
see inside......*S* if post remd go to outsource forum

No, I do not outsource my clients dictation overseas. That is my choice.

As a service owner, I like to hire MTs from hospitals that outsource to us sm
and often ask if it is OK to talk to the MTs at the hospital. I make sure that they know that I did not "take" their job - it it were not us, another service would have gotten the account.
It hasn't been allowed since HIPAA. MT companies who outsource...
get away with it because they don't tell their clients, and internet wav file capabilities enable them to do so without anyone knowing. Some policy and investigation needs to be enforced to stop this. I say start slapping companies who outsource with huge fines and see how long we have to deal with outsourcing problems. What gets me most is "I can't even get a copy of my own medical record from my doc unless he has a release of medical records form signed by myself on file in my chart, but a doctor can dictate John Smith's medical history, send it to a company who in turns sends it out of the country and back here! Ridiculous.
sorry you are upset...(sm)
you can notify the administrator of anything you find objectionable...
I appreciate your sharing because we should all try to help each other.
there always seem to be people, like yourself, who produce way over and beyond what most of us do, and in my experience they are always treated with suspicion and doubt as to how they were accomplishing it.
if you can do it, it is great! Most of us, however, are not able to do it, no matter how hard we try.
just curious if you were using the VR machines, or anything like that, because I was considering doing it before...
thanks, for the posts!
Someone's just trying to get everyone upset ... don't believe that...
I think it is just a ploy.
Besides, if that is truly where jobs are going...they will be coming back even faster than they went. Hahaha
Even the sloppiest of physicians won't tolerate that.

Upset MT
You're much harder on yourself than the MDs will be. Everyone makes mistakes - no matter how careful we are. I erased a tape at lawyer's office where I worked - even as big a jerk as he was, he didn't yell at me. Doctors are usually a nicer than lawyers! :)
They know you, they know you are responsible and obviously they like your work or they wouldn't have employed you for 4 years. It'll be all right.
I am so upset!!!!
I could spit! Recently since I am still a 'student' at that online course in Utah I read a post by the CEO and felt the need to comment. It seems that not only did he suggest that contributions be made to FEMA, but also that students in Louisiana and other state with hurricane damage call THEM at their 800 number. This seemed to me absolute lunacy, as telephone service in La, MS is vrtually non-existant. Perhaps posting that ONLINE was equally stupid, how were students supposed to get online?
However, what really gets me upset is that after making my reply I was 'deleted' from their website.
Apparently free speech isn't appreciated at that school, and neither was my suggestion that the school which has a reliable phone connection, themselves call their students in Louisiana and Mississippi. But hey, what do I know huh?
Don't mean to upset anyone, but I LIVE in Louisiana.

A bit upset
I have been with Medquist for almost 7 years and overall am happy. My biggest gripe of late is the fact that there is no work available and it is hard to make your quota. Other than that, my QA people are great, pay is always on time, I personally like the DQS platform, I LOVE my flexible schedule, they reimburse DSL service, they provide you with a computer, and they always remember their employees with great gifts for Medical Transcription Day (LOL). I can assure you that most companies will not and do not do most of the above mentioned things. With that being said, lets just hope the severe decrease in the work load is only temporary! For obvious financial reasons, if the work load does not pick up, they may find themselves without a lot of qualified and dedicated transcriptionists that have helped MedQuist achieve the goal of the largest MT provider.
No need to be upset.
I have been with them 8 years. I agree, they are very flexible on the schedule and I love that part. However, the office I work for totally changed overnight. I hate the way the supervisors are so cold and insensitive now, like they have been programmed with certain reponses. It was NEVER like that before. For instance, two weeks ago, I worked for 4 days just sicker than a dog, started to call in Thursday night, but didn't, then finally felt like I could go no more and called to be off 2 hours before my shift ended. I was told to go lie down for a few minutes and get back on. This would have never happened before the big changes (closing Atlanta office). My other big issue is I don't feel there is a supervisor left on the staff of the former Atlanta office that I can trust. That is not a good feeling.
I don't know what you got for MT day, but I got chapstick. When I first started, I got T-shirts, gift cards and then MT of the month gifts, your name was in the little paper for high producer - I miss that stuff. Just being appreciated.
I am not fond of the DQS as it is a struggle each day just to get any lines. I feel like I am typing my fingers off and then my line count is not totally up to that. This is very discouraging.
Okay, I am finished whining.
Are you serious? You are upset because
someone uses a handle that describes other positions they have held?
Surely, you are kidding. How in the world can that upset you?
I suppose it would upset you if I were to sign myself as "former MTSO" or "former case mgmt coordinator" or any other position I've ever held.
That is sad.
