I think a lot of the transcriptionists who work for transcription companies are the ones who are mainly unhappy. I have a friend who works at home for the hospital and makes great money and has wonderful benefits. Her job is now in danger of being outsourced now too. I guess the ones who have their own clients and can charge enough to make decent money are generally happy until they are underhanded as you were. It is the ones, like me, who work as IC or even employees too from what I see on here that don't make much per line or they don't have enough work consistently. There is not really a standard in MT as far as pay unless you want to say the standard pay for it per line for companies is about 8cpl. Some people more, some less.
I will tell you what I think is killing MT. These big nationwide companies who are getting the work and outsourcing it overseas for nearly nothing in the meantime taking work from us and getting it done so cheap that they can do it cheap and still make a profit. They don't care if Americans have jobs just so they can make money. I find some people know what MT is and some don't. We aren't appreciated, and I don't honestly know what to do. MT has become an unreliable way of making a living for some. Sad but true. I am sorry you lost your account the way you did. That really sucks.
