comments but thanks for the ones who have already commented. I knew I wasn't nuts! I think the Book of Style is the Book of Crapola! It makes me mad that really good MTs are being looked over because of this stupid Book of Style and some of their stupid rules.
Never in over 30 years have I had any doctor/dictator send something back because of a comma or a hyphen! I have had letters complementing a job well done, but none of junk the BOS spouts.
I think its sad when I read these posts about becoming a "good MT" and then read suggestions that you MUST know the BOS forwards and backward. If this book is what the profession accepts as the standard, the only thing that will happen is that the book is changed every few years thus getting more money for the author and sucking the MTs of their money.
Personally the only thing I think the BOS is good for is for starting fires or if you run out of toilet paper and things are so bad you can't afford to buy more, you always have the pages from the BOS!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, there are still companies out there who think as I do and some of you do about the BOS!!!
