I agree. Men should be the icing on the cake, not the whole cake.

Today's e-mail is just icing on the cake!
Okay . . . so I am just venting about my QA, but to all people doing QA I don't think everyone is like this, I just can't use names, so I am stuck somewhat generalizing. Sorry. Please don't take offense, I don't mean all QA people just a couple I have dealt with lately.
A few weeks ago, I got blamed for something QA changed on my report. They got it wrong, not me. I blanked it and QA guessed wrong. Very frustrating.
Earthquake cake? It that like Mudslide cake with a mocha drizzle??????????????
qqpp
Just one? Texas cake (chocolate cake no frosting) and ...
the other favorite is butter cake with chocolate frosting. Or chocolate with chocolate fudge frosting. Not sophisticated, but wonderful choices all.
yep, rum cake mmm
your making me hungry!!
Actually, it is not I who wants my cake and eat it too
but it is the client. When I started with them, I had no previous experience. They didn't want to hire as employee, but wanted IC, so they don't pay benefits, etc., but they want to call the shots, telling me no subcontracting, they want me to pick up tapes-no courier, they refused to telecommute, they want me to go out of my way to abbreviate, etc. to cut lines as much as possible, and they want to dictate pay per line.

I made the cake before -
and it was soooo good - rich of course, but delicious. Gotta try the meatloaf tonight. Thx for the recipe.
Wedding Cake
Could anyone direct to me some good web sites with wedding cake pictures? I have found a few, but it seems they are all "cookie cutter" and I am looking for something original, but not crazy. Am having a smaller wedding (under 100), outdoor. Any links anyone could provide, I would be majorly appreciative! (I have cake appointments next week and need to provide some ideas for them.)

Has anyone had Vesuvius cake?
It's a layered cake that sort of looks like a volcano.....with a layer of chocolate cake, a layer of cheesecake, a layer of chocolate mousse, topped off with a really thick ganache icing! Yum!!!!
piece of cake?
Decided to try transcription after I tired of nursing (management). Thought it would be a snap. Suffice it to say that a good MT has a broader knowledge base than a registered nurse.
That DOES take the cake! FIRST PRIZE! ;D

Piece of Cake....
I made the transition from doing multispecialty clinic and acute care transcription to Radiology about five years ago, and it was one of the easiest transitions I've ever made. Just have a couple of good radiology reference books and I don't think you'll have any problem at all. The cpl sounds very good, too.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me. I attempted to email you a couple of good reference materials, but the email came back as undeliverable.
Good luck
Thanks! I am going to try and make the cake this weekend.
I will try and make the meatloaf too. I have made several of her recipes, they were all great. One of my friends recently went to Savannah, GA and ate at The Lady & Sons (her restaurant). She said it was awesome!
Okay...hand over the cake recipe;

What is your absolute favorite cake?
If you had to pick just one cake, what would it be? I love just about any kind of cake, but I have to say honeybun is my all-time favorite. I think I could eat the whole thing if I tried.
Any other absolute favorite desserts? Oatmeal candy has been at the top of my list since childhood. My mom always made it at Christmas and now I always like to do the same. Yummy!
King Cake and let me be the one that gets the baby!

My family makes a cake that is very
We just call it "Pineapple Nut Cake" . . . basically, the pineapple is the liquid for the batter, and because of the cream cheese frosting, folks always say, "This is the best carrot cake I've ever had!" It doesn't even have the spices that carrot cake has (but I believe that a Hummingbird cake does have the spices, but also has the pineapple and pecans).
Anyway, one of my favorties.
I think you, like me, thought this would be a piece of cake
I had worked in hospital settings, doctor offices, etc. and when I started training (on the job for a year) I kept my nose in dictionaries, English and medical. Just because you have any background in something medically related does not mean you can be a transcriptionist. I trained for a year and before I was able to have production, had to have less than 3 errors (either English or medical) on each page and yet type 75 minutes of dictation a day- sorry but so long ago do not know now how much that was but quite a bit. I think you have probably gotten in over your head with no training per se and having said that yes I most certainly think you should do at least 1200 per day- you need speed as well as training to make a go of this. People who say no background should consider themselves very lucky to have made it.
I, like you, thought it would be a piece of cake
And I trained hard for a year even though other hospital work, clinics, etc. I have been at it for years now, also.
Radiology is a piece of cake
and you can get great line rates. One person's experience is not anothers...
In the newborn phase, piece of cake (sm)
It's when they get mobile is when the going gets tough. I had to have my sister babysit while I had some serious deadlines to hit. I couldn't do it with a mobile toddler running around. Sometimes I tried to split my shift and working some through the night, but that didn't last long because I needed sleep and very well couldn't sleep with a baby in the house, during the daytime, that is.
Care to share the cake recipe?

Barnes & Noble has cake magazines
in their wedding magazine section. It is a bit pricey for a small magazine (about $10) but they have pictures of every kind of cake you could possibly imagine! From the simple & traditional, to off-the-wall unique & creative. This is where I found the design for my wedding cake.
It's similar to German Chocolate cake, but
you put the pecans and coconut on the bottom of the pan and layer the chocolate cake mix with a drizzled layer of cream cheese and (can't find my recipie!!) When you bake it the cake cracks in the areas that you have drizzled the cream cheese mixture, thus the name. It's soooooo good!

Regarding going in-house after ICing for 7 years...(sm)
First, thanks to all who responded. Your collective experiences and insight were very helpful. I've decided that for the time being I am going to stay put at home. The main reason I was considering going in-house was because I am now alone at home (hubby is in assisted living). After years of caregiving and progressively becoming housebound due to that caregiving I find myself doing nothing but working and visiting hubby. I thought going in-house would give me a much needed change. However, I've decided that I'd rather select the people I interact with than having that fellowship need met by colleagues in a work environment.
Anyway, thanks again for your input. Most of you confirmed my underlying horror of office politics, gossiping, and pure misery. I do love the company I work with and would have had a very difficult time leaving them. I'm staying put!!
Agree, agree, agree! Just listen to Benny Hinn..
he speaks perfect English, especially when asking for money! Also, in my opinion, blanks should be left in the doc's dictation if not able to be transcribed, maybe then they will know that are NOT understood. With QA fixing them, what need is there for them to care if we understand them or not?
I agree with you....
I mean afterall there is no evidence that she is dead. From the beginning I thought they were guilty and I still think that Joran knows something (not saying it was an intentional murder-- probably an accident) The biggest thing that plays on my mind is why did they lie in the beginning if they were innocent. I believe that they were covering up for something. There have been theories that she went for a swim and drowned but there has been absolutely no trace of her. No shoes, handbag, nothing, which leads me to believe that everything was gathered up and taken somewhere.
I feel for the family but they need to let the Arubans do their job abiding their own laws. I know the mother has said she will stay until she finds Natalee but you can't live in Aruba forever.
I agree....
I think you have to blame Natalee herself before you blame the chaperones. What was she thinking going in a car w/ three strangers in a foreign country??? And also, what about her friends.. what were they thinking letting her go to the bar or leaving the bar alone? Back when we were in college and were on spring break or just bar hopping in this country..... you NEVER let your friend go off w/ some strange guys. That is just common sense.
I agree!
It is stated above, "I wouldn't give my daughter 2 cents towards a trip to Aruba at age 18. There's only one reason to go to an island like that, to drink."
Thank you! Me either!
I feel awful for this girl and her family. I really do. But no way in Jerusalem would I have allowed my 18-year-old son OR daughter to go to Aruba (which is a colony of the Netherlands, where pot is legal and who knows if there's any regulation on alcohol).
An 18-year-old is in no way socially savvy or emotionally prepared to be turned loose in a strange place with very loose laws and be expected not to get into some kind of a situation that he/she is in no way prepared to handle.
NO WAY
I really hope they find this poor girl, but it's not looking good.
I agree - for all we know
they could have taken out a second mortage on their home to finance this "vacation".
I agree with you...
besides if I sat all day and typed an American doctor who dictated in monotone speech I'd be sleeping by 10 a.m. I look forward to the challenge of transcribing the ESL's every day..it makes our jobs more rewarding!
I agree
nm
I do agree with that...
Evil does exist no matter where you go and my post was meant in no way disrespectful to you or your opinion (I hate it when a flaming war starts like the ones above). I just know how one seemingly insignificant comment can start a whole line of growing misinformation... Kinda like that game we probably all played as kids..telephone or whatever
I did not hear about the comment of America being the Great Satan, that is interesting, I am going to have to check that one out!
agree...
IN some cases we did, but do you really think the Indians didn't do the same? There is a myth about indigenous peoples on any continent being "noble savages," but in truth, there were warring thieving tribes among the Indians here who leeched off the peaceful tribes before the Europeans got here. Lying and cheating are not exclusively European virtues.
I still say they need to get over it. We spend way too much time in this country talking about mistreatment and ills of the past - we need to spend more time and energy on building a future for the children and grandchildren we say we love so much. The best way to give them a successful, peaceful future is to let go of our resentments and choose to love our children more than we love our grudges.
I agree with you (sm)
it takes a village to produce a perfect report! LOL! I embrace the feedback from QA, both positive and negative. And I make notes and try not to make the same mistake twice. Life is a learning process, anyways. The day I stop learning, I guess will be the day I die!
don't think so, i agree, it is a

I don't agree.
We get a lot of local coverage, but what about national coverage like on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc.? Every single news network has been focused on this one single incident on just about every show from 7 to 11 p.m. for months. Nancy Grace gives a 30-second blip in her missing person segment, but the majority of her hour-long show is devoted to the Holloway case. Look at all the help that was donated to the search effort in the Holloway case because of media attention and contrast that to the help that could be focused on other cases in addition (not instead of) had they received the same saturation of news coverage. It's not a generalization, it's an actuality.
