What temperature do you normally cook your fish at. I find sometimes that in the oven the fish seems
to have a lot of or water coming out and it doesnt get done nicely. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Almost Gobbler Day. Who is cooking and who is going out to dinner? Myself cooking. (sm)
We usually have everyone bring a dish of some sorts. Large family, probably about 30 plus. Set up 3 extra tables in the garage for smokers and cardplayers and have a great day stuffing ourselves.
Looking for different side dishes, suggestions anyone?
Sounds delish
That sounds delish!! We are having
taquitas, refried beans with cheese on top, and grilled chicken fajitas. I am hungry now:)
Add a splash of sherry, delish......NM

Try taking Fish oil
Try taking fish oil but make sure it molecularly distilled to get all the impurities out of it like mercury. That really does a lot for depression and anxiety and try to cut caffeine and sugar out of your diet. I notice a huge difference with it. It's hard to believe but its true.
Chinese fish
Most of the tilapia in the stores comes from China, catfish also.. Ask your meatman BEFORE you buy and only buy US produced cats and other fish... Its your body you are putting this contaminated food into.

Teach a newbie to fish
I don't think it helps them. I started looking at the Word Help board after I read a post earlier this evening about the low-level questions newbies are wanting answers for. One was something like "vigomatic...this is somewhere on the head." Are you KIDDING??? I couldn't believe it. I think it would serve this person much better to give him/her some ideas on how to find the answer rather than to just give the answer away. Just giving the answer away is not really helping them learn anything. It's just letting them copy your homework.
What's that saying? Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
In the earlier discussion I mentioned, someone thought posting on the board (in a virtual situation) was the same thing as asking a teacher for an answer in a classroom situation. Well, I think a great teacher in a classroom situation would do the same thing; i.e., point the student toward the dictionary or the encyclopedia or whatever, not just give away the answer.
I really have to wonder how someone can end up as a working transcriber & not know, or at least have been exposed to, the word "zygomatic" at some point. How did this person get a job? Scary, especially considering how protective we are of our field and how much better at it we think we are than anyone else on the planet.
There are no shortcuts. Every great working Transcriptionist has had to look everything up, has had to go through the unbearable period when getting through one report was like swimming through concrete. Are newbies these days under the impression that there is another way? Because there isn't.

Mayo Clinic
They have run that ad in "Advance" for years. I had a friend who applied for it and they told her they were just "making up a list". I don't know if that has changed or not. Also, to work at home, you have to live in the Phoenix area-- no way for me! It used to be nice when I moved there in 1964 with large citrus groves, beautiful clean air, etc., but now with the traffic, high crime, illegal aliens, gangs, road rage, shootings every day, etc., it is just like living in LA. If that appeals to you, go for it, but not me! I have a horse and used to enjoy riding along the canals and cotton fields, etc. Now it is just wall to wall houses about 3 feet apart. I got out of there in 1997 and not a moment too soon!. They are trying to make the rest of Arizona just like it and ruining everything, unfortunately. It used to be a beautiful place, but not any more. Besides, all the Californians are moving here with their money and are pushing housing prices out of sight.
Mayo in Scottsdale
They just make a list-- in case they ever have an opening. They have been running their ad for years.
Mayo Clinic
I know for a fact that all of the Mayo System clinics here in Minnesota run ads just to collect resumes. They will lie and tell you that the opening has been filled, but I have an insider who tells me what is really going on and you also see the ad continue to run. There are no job openings. Not nice.
HAHAHA - meaning fish don't use bikes....nm

Spheris/Mayo Clinic
Anyone with info on Spheris and/or Mayo Clinic Scottsdale? I've been an IC with MQ for 10 years and it's time for a change. Need to convert to employee status. Want to still work at home. Mayo may offer that after a while. Spheris is at home all the time. Anyone know cost for health insurance with Spheris for employee and spouse and child? Thanks for any info!
if this is about the Mayo Clinic - then forget about it - sm
The Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale has been running an ad for transcriptionists for almost three years now. NO LIE!
how about using Kraft Fat-Free Mayo?
Not sure how it works with cooking, but I can't think why it wouldn't do just fine.
He is a Mayo Clinic doctor - he does a ton...

U love beta fish? Aren't those the ones that kill
I remember my exhusband always had Japanese beta fish when we were married. As I recall, if my memory serves me well, these specific male fish impregnate the female fish and then when she has the babies, the beta (male) squeezes all life out of the mom and kills her after she has the babies. Just the idea of this made me hate this type of fish 4ever.
Just one person's opinion though! No flaming please! *LOL*
Henry's such a cute name, and I love beta fish
:)
Health department here said straight mayo. SM
Slathered it on, put on a shower cap and left it for hours. Not only were the lice gone, but our hair was so soft and shiny and conditioned!
As a former supervisor of Mayo's Transcription Dept.
I can say that, yes, they continually run ads whether they are hiring or not. HR keeps resumes on file and refers to them as they need to fill a slot. Mayo is not the easiest place to work. Incoming MTs have to go through pretty rigorous training and you have to have 3 passing QAs before you can work out of the home. Many of the dictators are horrible due to their very thick accents or racing dictation methods. It's been a while since I've worked there, but when I did, I know that their word processing system was rather cumbersome and required a lot of mouse work and their Expander wasn't very good either.
How about grilled fish like salmon? Add a glass of wine and you're all set!

Don't complain! I spent years married to the coldest fish around....

Why hasn't Mayo clinic signed on with a large
Like Spheris or Medquist??? What is so special about them?
Mayo Clinic in AZ has an ad for in-house MT in Advance Mag, $19/hr base pay. sm
Plus shift diff and bonus, plus $1000 sign-on bonus, and relocation $. What a great offer if it's true.
When I worked at Mayo the desks had the capability of raising up. The keyboard,
so you could stand and type. It was a refreshing change. I really liked the set up. Mayo paid a chunk of change for those desks and there were over 90 MTs in our office.
Well, since he does most of the cooking..
Maybe let him make their dinner and you make yours! That's what I would do. I would not give up my meals for two spoiled rotten kids ;)
cooking in crock pot right now
Either beef stew meat OR a chuck, whatever. One can cream of celery, one can cream of mushroom and one can french onion. Don't have do do a thing. Delicious
I'm cooking. Daughter and son-in-law,
son, husband and myself will be spending Thanksgiving together (after my son and I get off work).
Yes, and I'm the one cooking the turkey
Don't think my guests would appreciate a "tofu turkey". I will do the whole traditional meal and those who choose not to eat the turkey will still have plenty.
How do you get rid of cooking smells?
I've about had it with cooking any beef or pork at all. Even cooking with hot oil.
I cannot get the lingering odors out. I wash the pots and pans, put up the leftovers immediately, clean the stove and all surfaces but it just lingers.
Does anyone have a solution?
Ever try cooking a meal in someone else's kitchen? sm
You know how to cook, but have a tough time finding where everything is kept in that kitchen so it takes a while longer. You could cook the same thing in your own familiar kitchen in half the time. This goes for MT, too. It takes a long time, even for those of us who have been transcribing half our lives, to get used to new formats, new work type codes, new voices, and learning idiosyncrasies for each and every dictator. It takes time--a few months or more. Be patient, and the line counts will surely add up as you become more familiar with the account.
son cooking steak and shrimp
what a treat. Someone else cooking for a change.
Make my own. Cooking's a hobby.
I'd almost like to be a caterer or chef, but I don't like working evenings or weekends. LOL
MIL is cooking it- IN- I did it for the first time last year, also IN-

Well, I messed that up, meant to say DH is cooking

We're cooking out today....sm
went to the zoo yesterday and did yard chores.
LOL! Possibly my husband's cooking?
You should see some of my personal medical reports other people have transcribed. Jeesh, can I sue as a patient for such poorly transcribed reports? Thanks for the laugh...
Search The Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Mayo Clinic or other big institutions for research. nm

Meat cooking is harder, IMHO
Remebering my childhood as an animal eater, I think it is harder cooking for meat eaters and way more expensive than vegetarian foods.
Take turns w/ menu (and cooking and cleaning..)
I grew up in a house w/ a six-pack of kids and if you didn't like what was for dinner, too #$$# bad, will give it to your brother lol.
What are you cooking for 4th of July? Recipes encouraged please!

Don't be afraid of it. It's really hard to mess up Oriental cooking.
Here are the links to the recipes that I printed off of Google. (I love the Internet! No more cookbooks, only Google for recipes.) I cheated on the plum sauce by buying a jar because our plums aren't quite ripe yet. Buy the egg roll skins instead of trying to make your own, too.

For the fried rice, you can use any type of rice. I use brown basmati or jasmine rice mostly. You can also throw in extra vegetables and leftover meats (pork, beef, chicken) to make a meal out of it instead of a side dish. I like those Oriental pea pods, bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, and Chinese cabbage.

I'm going to combine and modify the eggroll recipes so I have shrimp/pork egg rolls. I use canola oil instead of vegetable, peanut, or sesame oil. I don't care for sesame seeds or bamboo sprouts, so I add extra water chestnuts. Use frozen or fresh instead of canned crab or shrimp. Use diced, boneless pork chops instead of ground pork or sausage.

Usually I just have coffee. Sometimes I'll have oatmeal. Today, DH is cooking again!
We're having breakfast "hash" with scrambled eggs, ham, hash browns, cheese, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and red pepper in one skillet. Whole wheat toast and chipotle Tabasco.
Oh, me too!!! When I got my first microwave (very expensive) we all watched the bacon cooking.

except I love cooking w/alcohol/wine in sauces!!
