Hi all. Anyone think is it possible to edit 5000 lines per day of VR? This is on a very low ESL account?
The new company I have gone with have a 5000 daily line count requirement for editing VR files. Just curious if it is possible! I am getting nervous!!

Obviously this guy doesn't have a clue. Most nationals want between 1000 to 1200 lines minimum 65 character line with spaces.
Maybe he is talking about a 35 character line or better yet a 25 character line with spaces.

I only have 1 dinky account on my own, ~5000 lines a month - sm
and no tabs at all (I programmed in my "jumps" so I don't have to use tabs, just hit F11), and only 2 hard returns at most at the endd of each report. One Dr. just does "block" paragraphs and does all the patients in one "report", so each day is only a couple pages, the other does the same but with more of a report format, i.e. headers but no returns between each item; returns only between each patient. They then cut and paste into the patient's record. I am working on getting a few more doctors on my own so I can either lessen the work I do for my "regular" IC job or drop it all together; and I will, if necessary, charge for tabs and hard returns when I get more accounts though.

Now I have read the below posts. Please, please do not pay attention to the couple of negative posts. I, and most others here, know, or have a good idea, of how you are feeling and the family dynamics that come into play. I think you are right that your mother will not listen or want to hear what is going on. I like one poster's idea of sending her flowers. I think that is a wonderful idea. Send lots of notes, e-mails, flowers letting her know you care. Just make sure you send them so that SHE gets them and not to be intercepted by the step-father. She may even begin to question what is going on and begin to see the light.
Again, I hope you make that counselor appointment! It is so good to be able to let it all out to someone!

Aaahhhh, now I get it. Gross lines vs. Character lines. I guess I've just been conditioned to
think in terms of character lines. One of the perils of working as an IC for somebody who defines what a line is versus owning your own company and defining it yourself. After working for someone else for 15 years, maybe it's time to bust out on my own.

A very long time ago, I once had a dream that my dog got hit by a car - the exact time, place, etc. And exactly one week later, to the day, place and hour, she got hit & killed by a car.
Another time I was driving on the freeway, and suddenly in my mind got a very clear picture of a pickup truck on fire. Yet there was no truck on fire where I was, and no smoke or anything. About 10 miles up there road, I came around a bend and there was a truck exactly like the one I'd seen in my "mind-flash", and it was on fire.

As far as those 2 above, 1 is owned by someone who lives in India, but the MT company is run out of TX and employs US MTs. The other does have offices offshore but also in California, and again employs US MTs.

One of two things could happen, more MTs stepping forward, MQ going under, we all go to the wolves (Spheris) OR there is a settlement, we're offered 20K each.
Most expect 1200 lines a day, but I think I've seen 1100.
How hard that is depends mostly on work availability and how good the platform is.
When all else fails, and you've gotta make those lines,

I've been on Escription for four years and I have rarely hit 2500 lines a day..
Yes, when I have good reports I can do 500 lines an hour, but unfortunately, that does not happen consistently in my day. I can cruise along for a few hours and then hit some ESLs, which just mentally slows me down and then I struggle the rest of the day. If, I was able to sit there 8 hours straight NO interruptions or breaks and easy reports, then I could hit 2500 lines but that is not my reality. Some of the reports are good but I'm telling you.. A LOT of them have to retyped, thus slowing your line count down an hour..and you've just basically done straight typing for a mere 4 cpl. I truly think that editing needs to pay more. I am like you.. I am requiring at least $100 a day.. sometimes I can do it in 6 hours (no breaks and good reports) and sometimes for various reason I have to sit there 12-15 hours (interupptions, ESL, and just bad reports)..So add that up..$100 in 12-15, that's like $8 an hour.. Wal-mart here I come LOL
Are you IC or employee? Any IC work I've done, they encourage surpassing lines...
If you're an IC, I honestly don't think it matters to the MTSO which MT is putting out the lines, as long as TAT is met and the quality is there to back it up. I've cranked out 2500 lines per day with a commitment of 1400 per day and the extra effort was commended.
If you're an employee, however, and other employees who perhaps aren't as fast are complaining that you're 'hogging' all the work because of your speed, that could be another story. I've been in that situation but had a supervisor who staunchly defended me and said it wasn't exactly 'hogging' the work just because I was twice as fast as the other MTs, so the complaints ceased.

I am in total agreement with you about the Emdat platform and also being able to do more in Word. I really wish there was a way to just type in Word and send the work from there. However, thanks so much for letting me know about how to copy to Emdat. I didn't want to try it until I heard back from someone, so thanks.:)

It is actually quite possible to do. I work for a small transcription business and one of our transcritionist averages $1900 to $2000 a week. She takes advantage of her ESP/shortcut program and makes templates for everything. So it can be done.
Parents just had them done at $5000 an eye. nm

that's all my company requires. Plus we get tiered incentives for anything over 1000 per day.

Hello!! I am a newbie, stay-at-home military wife and my husband is the only one working for now. He is deployed right now and I am managing all the finances, since we have separate accounts, I transferred$1000 in my account which made him mad. It felt like I overspent and use the money for nothing. Money that I didn't even spent shopping!!! He knows where the money goes but he still questions me about every single penny I spent and I really felt so bad.

This is so true. I have been told by the human resource director that the docs will only need a device kind of like a Palm Pilot and that they will key in diagnoses, etc, which somehow which will somehow cover billing, transcription, etc. I guess I could deliver pizzas or go to Wal-Mart. It seems like there will always be PIZZA AND WAL-MART! This is really, really SAD.

We have a cat and a dog - We have gone through a Fantom, a Hoover wind tunnel, and a Dirt Devil (not in that order, but you get it, about one vacuum every other year - kaplooey with the animal hair - yes I groom my animals but still...they shed)....I bought a Dyson a little over year ago, after seeing it on sale at Sears, looking it up on the 'net, and just being fascinated by the whole vortex deal. I also ended up using a gift card I had as well, which took a bite out of the price. Before buying, I asked the Sears Service Dept and customer service people their "scoop" on the Dyson - they had never had one returned....for any reason in our region of stores - they looked it up for me. I figured that was good enough for me ! I have had no problems whatsoever and absolutely love it. I should have started working at Sears on commission. I have sold 3 of them just by word of mouth..LOL! Gotta love the Dyson - especially with the extra motor in mine (the purple one) for the animal hair - it honestly doesn't ever lose suction!

Like when the company looses an account and the Shift lead lies and tries to play dumb like she has no idea why there has been no work for 20 days or more. Yeah right! Big fat liars...most of them.
While at another company based in Florida, I had system problems almost every day. Tech support was a joke. Every time I mentioned it to my Team lead shed say, "I have the same problem everyday" in the most unconvincing voice possible. Big fat liar.

Then, I realized the other MTs were making selections and that is why I was so tired = I was doing the crappy work.
Now, thank GOD, my account does not allow the MTs access to that function in Winscribe - and becoming a cheater isn't an option anymore. Cheater

I am just so frustrated with my production. I am stuck at 800ish lines a day. I have tried Instant Text and Smartype both and I still cannot get over this 800 line mark. I really need to double this at least because I have 2 children to support. Ok thanks for letting me vent

Sounds like you might as well be FT with those #s-- at a previous job the min. for PT was 5000
lines every 2 weeks. Granted it got to a point where there was no work so it was impossible to meet quota, but if there was work you had better meet it.....then we had a landslide of work, about 90% ESL.....all the good stuff apparently went up in smoke (they outsourced to the Phillipines).

I usually work 7 days a week. I work for a national full time and have a part time IC position. It's easy for me because I work from home anyway. Instead of lying around watching tv, I go to my computer and work.
Last year, I increased my savings by $24,000. I religiously deposit $2000 a month into savings. If you are willing to work, you can make lots of money. I can work as much as I want to with my IC position.

5000 mega enough for air card?
Is 5000 megabytes of data enough to use a wireless air card for MT work? I only have dial up and am considering getting an air card but it says that you only get 5000 megabytes a month. Is that enough for MT work, my husband gaming, and my kids being on the internet too? Will I go over the 5000 megabyte limit?
My ex was wealthy and I was sooo miserable
without going into detail, I will say my health suffered from being with a man whom I sensed did not love me in a deep fashion. That fact cancelled out the 9,000 sq foot home (attached 4 car garage), 2400 cash allowance monthly, the need for me not to work, vacations to exotic places and luxury cruises twice each year, a walk in close the size of my present bedroom. But, you know, I was so lonely. At least with your husband, you will have a man who loves you when you are old. I left that life to nothing, zip, lost my place in MT world after 20 yrs and had to start all over, his attorneys royally screwed me and yes, I was so poor I was hungry, sold all those clothes at second hang consignment shops and begged someone to hire me (MQ at 0.06 cpl). I had dogs so had to buy a home which took every cent I had. Walked out with nothing in the end. I am happy but at 40, that scene is not one a person can go through without subsequent scars.
I am alone now. A fireplace is my company along with two cats. Seven years later, I am at peace finally but I really did let myself down by putting myself through the hell I lived trying to get my life back on track.

So many people on this board expressed concern for you well being, I was surprised. But I am VERY glad that you did so well and accomplished what you meant to accomplish. I applaud your efforts and wish you the best of luck. I am a bit concerned about the doctor situation though. No doctor should have such control over someone's physical care as to put pressure on someone who works with them. That is not ethical! I understand your concerns about your husband's position and I am not suggesting that you do anything drastic, but it sounds like someone is holding a weapon over your husband's head to make you continue you care with them. You have a right to choose your own doctor and not suffer any consequences. This is still the USA, not matter what her problems, and you still have the freedom of choice. Please continue on your present course of action and only do what you feel comfortable doing, but please keep in mind also that no doctor should FORCE you to take care from them. Please also continue to come here to talk about things. There are some very supportive people on this board, and use them when you need to. All best wishes to you!! You should be so very proud! and bless your husband for being so understanding too!

I am trying to test for a company that sent me the test via e-mail attachment. The test file had to be unzipped which I did using Winzip. But now, I have no idea how to get it to play. What am I supposed to do now to get me sound card to play it. I feel sooo dumb, but I've just never had to go through all these hoops. I've always just been able to click and listen. Ugh.
A company spends 3-5000 to hire....
...and train an employee. Doesn't matter if you're part-time or full-time. Is it responsible to make them incur that cost when you know you're going to bail?

Amen! I do over 300 lph too. Have about 5000 abbreviations, been doing this for over 7 years,
and just because I do about 300 lph, give or take, doesn't my work is sloppy!! And to prove it, I just got a raise, which I take to mean I am doing a GOOD job! As you, I proof as I go.
