I've got my loverboy doctor to do today, too.

So, I had a doctor's appointment today... sm
Thursday during the day, I felt a quick, sharp pain in my left breast. Later that night when I was getting ready to get a shower, I noticed a spot on my bra about nipple level about the size of a lady bug. Naturally, I panicked a bit. At the doctor today, upon "expressing" a bit for her, she did a Hemoccult test, which turned out to be positive. She thinks it is probably just an infection, which I am glad to hear, and says it could even be remnants of the cystitis I had when I was nursing my daughter - 16 years ago !?!? Anyway, at the checkout desk, the nice lady making my appointment to get my mammies grammed said she had the same thing and called it a papilloma in a milk duct and it cleared up on its own eventually, which finally brings me to the point of my post. When I typed papilloma into WebMD to do a little research, I only came up with references to HPV. Was she confused with her terminology? Anyone have anything like this before. I have calmed down since Thursday because the doctor didn't find any lumps. Now, just looking for a little information. TIA!
Doctor D'oh of my day today. (sm)
A tiny vent!
What is up with them saying "myself" when "I" is not the subject? Does it just sound more officious then "me?"
I just had "Follow up at _____ Medical Associates with myself, Dr. _____, within one week." Again for the umpteenth time.
Granted, I had to learn the rules of reflexives from an older, wiser MT than myself, but some days I get a little sick of changing it. LOL
New nominee for most annoying doctor today s/m
This guy is walking on the treadmill while he's dictating, so not only is he so scatter brained he doesn't know what he's talking about, I get to enjoy the heavy breathing.
I have to share this. Got a call from a doctor today inquiring about my service. See message.
He apparently has been working with a service that outsources to India and he is so fed up at the bad quality of the transcription in addition to the fact that he wants to work with someone who actually speaks English! How about that!! They will all learn the hard way, but they will learn. There may be hope for American MTs yet.
oh yes, i've been to the doctor since
an insurance card?
No, I've worked in doctor's business office.
That is what the insurance company allows, not what they dictate. Who is to tell the doctor how long he can sit and talk with his patient. It is up to him. True insurance companies get together to decide what is the appropriate amount for the doctor to "charge" for a service but I've literally seen where the doctor sees the patient all of 2 minutes after patient is worked up by techs, but they still get paid for that visit.
You've been trying to say doctor envy on the company board all morning?
No wonder you get flamed. You think people don't like other posters because they might be a doctor? You been posting all morning and now this afternoon and you are concerned about work ethic? Sorry Charlie your post and your actions make NO SENSE.
I've been having trouble accessing this site today, too.

I've lost a local account today that I have had for five years......
I cannot believe that this happened to me today. I went into one of my doctor's offices this afternoon to pick up his tape for today. I was given a tape and told that his wife, who is the office manager, wanted to see me in her office. I thought nothing of it because she sometimes has extra things that she wants me to type up for her and we talk quite often also.
She tells me that she just has not gotten around to talking with me yet, but "tomorrow we will start dictating through a company over the internet". I was blown away! She said she wanted to give me a break and that if it does not work out she will let me know. The whole time she was tell me this she was writing me a check as I had just turned in an invoice.
My first inclination was to throw that #@%$ tape at her and say "do it yourself", but I knew that wasn't the "professional thing" to do. I was thinking how could she do this to me, not even a 24 hour notice. She handed the check to me, I snatched it and walked out.
I have had this account for five years exactly (began August 1, 2000). I have never took a day off, never raised my rates, never asked anything of them, and my work has always been the best possible quality. I have been the most dependable person they have could had. I have passed up other accounts because of them, and I always put them first. Thank goodness I have other accounts to fall back on. In our town, there is only one other transcriptionist besides myself, and we both have more work than we can handle most of the time.
Just thought I'd remind all those other MTs out there that no matter how good we are and no matter how much we try to please everyone we are still not appreciated. I will never be fooled again. No one will ever receive the attention from me that I gave them.
LOL! Well, good! I've done ONE good thing today, then. NM

HELP with Shorthand. Suddenly today when I tried to start work today.sm
my ShortHand would type only the first letter of an expansion and then take all the letters away! I checked and the Type It button is grayed out! I have restarted the computer and looked on the Shorthand Help menu but can find nothing that applies. Can anyone please help me ASAP? I am lost without it! TIA
Perhaps you are right. This one is dated today. The original article was on Yahoo today also with
But this article states it would only affect new customers right now. So I am upset over nothing. I went through heck with BellSouth when they charged me a surcharge of an extra 50 a month and then would write a letter saying I had to switch to a long distance service and pay by the minute because of my "excessive" use. They told me the unlimited charge was for an average of an hour a day not somebody who worked out of their home and I needed to switch a business plan at over 200 a month charge. I switched over to cable because of that and then to read that cable was going to charging on a per use fee and not a flat monthly fee it upset me. It is the nature of our work, VR, only paying for VBC, having headers and footers taken away, now being charged for being on line, etc. It just seems that everything is done to keep to insure less money.
Call your doctor - this is not a doctor forum! nm

I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne
used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).
Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best. In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander. Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love. My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything. You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros. I love it. I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.
Blasted cold out today. It was 104 degrees last week, but it's 40 degrees today with rain.
However, I do like cozy days like today when I don't have to go anywhere. I'm done working, the house is clean, there's chili on the stove for dinner already, and I'm just putzing around. I think I'll go bake some jalapeno cheese bread to go with the chili.
Spell as best you can or blank them and keep going. I've passed many tests when I've left blan

As you can already see, you've come to the wrong board! By using the word professional, you've
excluded about 99% of the population of "whatever" it is that hangs on these boards. Certainly not professional for sure! But you sure are doing a good thing for someone! Its the thought that counts. Sorry you met the dregs right at the start.
HELP! I've turned my screen sideways, I can't straighten it up. I know I've seen sm
this before, but I can't remember what it is. Do you realize how hard it is to read sideways? TIA.
I've lost track of how many people who've asked about it to NOT

I've always verified every line I've typed (I have my ways) -sm
If you're supposed to be paid a certain $/line, that's what you should be getting no matter how they do billing unless of course it's specified in YOUR contract with THEM.
BTW, I've never caught a company cheating me ever.
I've used it. It's the worst piece of crap I've ever seen.
seriously. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy, or their Vianeta program. Awful, just awful.
Wait until you've been there six months and if you've improved
quality and quantity, I'd say go ahead and ask. Otherwise I'd say annually... good luck
I've seen the same every place I've done acute care, and
pointing out dangerous or repeated errors (often in normals for goodness sakes!) never got the result I expected. When I would press the issue, supervisors said if the dictators didn't complain, then the mistakes must not matter!
It didn't matter if the MT changed what had been a cardiac med in the beginning of the report to an antifungal by the end - I kid you NOT! One poor girl used facial for fascial and fascial for facial!
I've used a few expanders, and of those I've used, all must be "coded" to get things lik
One thing I do to get around this, is to create a macro and then link the ShortHand command to the macro. It works for me, but I do the same five clients every day and only have about 20 or 30 macros/Shorthand commands that work like this. This may not work well for you if you have lots of formats and hundreds of docs.
I've been doing this doc for many years, so I've learned how to function with him. sm
I can tell what's a stutter, what's another word, what's just an "uh." Years of experience will get you through a lot.
Wouldn't want to do his charts all day, of course, but a few per day aren't bad. I haven't had to send his to review in a long time, but they do take a little longer to shuffle through.
I've worn contacts for 30 years. I've had both
hard and soft. My vision is much better with the soft ones than they were with the hard ones. When I first started trying contacts soft ones were still new and they couldn't get me to 20/20, so I went to hard. Hard were okay until my eyes started changing shape and then I could no longer wear hard ones. The soft should give you better vision as they conform more to the shape of your eye.
I've been a bully; I've been bullied.
I used to sell a lot on eBay. There are some people who buy high-priced items and play games with you. I've had to call them repeatedly, report them to different agencies. It's not fun. You put time and money into the business of selling, and there are people out there who live to manipulate the system and cause trouble.
And, I've been bullied by buyers who made unreasonable demands, insist that they pay by check when you clearly state you don't accept them. It's not fun, and is one of the reasons I don't sell anymore. People!
I've also bought from some sellers who I would not deal with again because of their unprofessional attitude.
But, overall, ebay can be a great place to be.
I've become the man I've always wanted to marry.
I live alone, am 46, never married, no kids, just dogs horses and chickens and just got done building a new house out in the boonies away from the rat race. (Used to live in Manhattan) Couldn't be happier. Selfish maybe, but never out of time, never stressed, and I don't take anything out on others. There's something to be said for being alone but not lonely. I'm not looking for a man to "make me complete." They only sap me of my time, energy and money (how little of it there is with MQ). I consider myself lucky getting to choose my time with friends, and not just stuck with a deadbeat partner. Ladies especially: Be strong and allow yourself to be independent. Any old man will not make you stronger!
Maybe the doctor
usually sees people with superpowers.
What about the ED ones that say to see your doctor if you have, sm
an erection for over 4 hours. Now I quickly switch the channel if my child or my parents are in the room when those commercials come on.
doctor
I only have 1 doctor and 2 nurse practitioners who speak english - so I don't have to learn any foreign accents.
It isn't the doctor. They have to pay big $$ for
malpractice insurance, which is the main reason the visits are so high. They also have huge college loans to pay off.
Please, please go to the doctor
nm
I actually had a doctor who
farted and then let out a huge sigh... Talk about gross.
Definitely tell your doctor...
Not to scare you, but just to be on the safe side. I am praying for you too!
This doctor
likes to go DUBADUBADUBADUBADUBADUBADO while he is thinking of what to say next. It was funny at first, but 5 minutes in it is becoming very annoying!
Did you ever think to ask your doctor or
dumbo
I think you need to get a doctor.
:P
Thanks....I know I need a doctor, which I am
in the process of doing. I've just moved.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas what this might be caused from and if there are things I should look for today. Can I wait and see if anything changes? Etc....
doctor know why

I also had a doctor who did not know
his numbers. I always straightened them out for him, always until the day he said I WANT THESE REPORTS EXACTLY AS I DO THEM. Ok, then… he had 1, 4, 2, 10, 3, 9, 6 and the like. Talk about a snot. He asked for it and that is what he got.
Hee hee- we had a doctor
whose middle initial was P and somebody didn't catch that their Expander had kicked in so his name on the signature line came out John Potassium Smith. Even funnier, he sent it back signed John Potassium Smith. Thank goodness he had a sense of humor!
If you don't need to go to the doctor
for the pre-existing conditions I would just get the meds, though is you are going to get Cobra that should cover you until you get insurance. Cobra is expensive though so you need to look at the financial burden it may place on the family.
Can you work second job part-time until you are eligible for benefits and then go full-time and drop the other job. Seventy more days is a long time to work 2 FT jobs, plus with the chaos of the holidays on top of that is just too much.
Have you looked into getting a private policy? I think they have to take you even with a pre-existing condition as long as you have been continuously insured. That way you wouldn't be tied to a job for insurance reasons.
A really thorough doctor
One of the doctors that I work for gives a lot of details about his patient but this one really seemed a bit much.
The patient is seeing him due to snoring.
The patient states that she snores very loudly. Her husband complains of her snoring. She also has a dog that sleeps in her bedroom and the dog snores as well.
Very important info LOL!
If it's only for one doctor, then you might look..sm
Look for the Philips 9850. They sell it on Novuscript.com and transcriptiongear.com for under $1000. It only has capability for one phone line, so only one doc can call into it at a time. Personally, I can tell you that the digital handheld recorders will allow you to achieve the same results with much less hassle, as you have to set up user accounts, etc., on the call-in unit. Any technical glitches with the call-in unit, you'll be handling so you will need to be well versed in the unit and its parameters or sit on hold with Philips for tech support. However, it's an option for you if you only have one doc and you're more comfortable with call-in dictation. Digital handheld recorders are cheaper, too, so you might really want to look into those, as mentioned by other posters but I've been using the Philips 9850 for a few years now and it works fine as long as you only have one doctor dictating to it at a time.
Please see a doctor.
I have had all these symptoms and more. Medication for this has really helped me. Please see a doctor to get evaluated.
I had a doctor tell me the
He was totally amazed. I don't see the difference in my speed of typing than a physician that sees 25-30 patients in one day... It all amazes how healthcare has evolved. In a hospital, it was definitely quality and serve the physician. With these online MTSOs, it's cents per line and produce, produce, produce, barely learning the account. Oh, and make it quick!
well, certainly I am no doctor, but
it sounds like infection is back. Did he do any studies on fluid he found before? Maybe you should call him. Hope this gets better, I am sure this is miserable.
I have one doctor
who goes the other way. It seems like he uses every big, odd, unheard of word he can think of to sound intelligent. I'm not sure if he is doing it on purpose, but it's just as sickening as those who use made up and incorrect words.
I have a doctor...
That has a dog, sounds like a HUGE dog and the thing barks like the ENTIRE time she is dictating! I have to try and distinguish what she is saying through dog barks! Also, another dictator, she will dictate for a good 2 to 3 minutes and then get hung up, looking through medical records, and sit there saying "ummmm, ummmm, ummmm" for a good minute and then she says...."I'm sorry, let's start this over, please delete everything I have said thus far" UGGHHH that is VERY irritating that I have typed a good page or so and have to delete it all!
