Funny, my fingers wouldn't even type MTs...nm

Yes. You have to type til your fingers are smokin' to be able to make any money. nm
:+
The font you are using makes it very hard to read
your post.
well insurance makes it hard to leave
x
it makes sense to everyone w/o a hard head that refuses to let new info in.
You are backwards and gawd help those people you edit. Such a condescending know-it-all attitude. Looking forward for some great karma for you. Some pompous know-it-all to point out all your mistakes would be just perfect. Love it!
Please don't type in all caps, hard

to read and is considered screaming on the net.

I can barely type I'm laughing so hard
Yes, you are going to get slammed for saying some of that stuff, but it is Hilarry-ious!!! And, oh so true. Oh, my side hurts!
So what do you do to keep motivated to type during the work day? Sometimes I find it so hard to...

stay focused.  When you're working at home it is soooo easy to turn on the TV, take frequent breaks to answer the phone, talk to hubbie, play with the kids, take a hot bath, play solitaire on the PC, surf the net, post on a message board, etc.

I just wondered if anyone had any miracle cure for the wandering mind?

Is it your shift or work type that makes your job unique? Autopsies maybe? nm

How hard is it to type a word in a blank space? I'm afraid
.
I meant bought. Hard to type and listen to the music at the same time.
:
I would not; most of the time those type files, although not usually hard medical terms, take lots l
to type and are very difficult as it is hard to hear with background noise, different speakers, usually no macros, etc. I think they are worth more pay, not less. I also get paid by the word at 0.008 and had figured mine to be about 0.09/line as well in the past. stick with where you are.
I've tried this before but it was WAY too hard for me.
Yeah, it sounded too good to be true. I wonder if the doctor has to train the software or if a Transcriptionist can train it.
i have a Geneticist that i type and find it extremely hard with the terms of all the genetic disabli

I'm left handed, guess that makes me dyslectic, so I used to type "patient was raped and prepp
also....wayyyyy back in the late 60's and early 70's when I actually worked in a doctor's office or hospital, if patient's name was Norman, 75% of the time I typed Normal.  What is really funny....my father's name was Norman Hassell...can you imagine anyone being a "normal hassell"?  Even funnier still, my mother named me Joy....so guess you can say I'm a "happy hassell"!! and a lefty at the same time; people tend to steer clear of me!!!  Have a good day.  Big huge storm moving across our little island right now; got to shut down and unplug everything.
U guys R awesome! Thanx for the laffs. I've had a hard day!

I've owned cheaper chairs and learned the hard way.

The old saying that you get what you pay for is true when it comes to these cheap chairs! My back always hurt and I was having to buy a new chair at least yearly. You do the math; I've already had the $1000 chair five years and I quit having the backaches five years ago. This chair is no where close to wearing out and will last me at least another five years, probably more. So, if you think that spending $200 every year on a cheap chair is worth it, you go right ahead; I didn't hear anything but thanks for the OP for my suggestion.

I've lost more than one hard drive on Dell computers
That's the message you get normally if the hard drive if fried.  I just called Dell and they diagnosed the problem and sent me a new hard drive and I returned the bad one. Is yours still under warranty?
Two of the best companies I've worked for didn't make me test. Makes you wonder if...sm
these MTSOs that mandate so many "tests" aren't just trying to see how many actual reports they can get transcribed for free. I could understand maybe a written test and one very in-depth transcription test, but 6 is utterly ridiculous. I would have definitely passed on that too and then told the MTSO exactly why.
I've also tested at a hospital. I only had to type one report and
the rest was the interview and a small written test on abbreviations and proofreading test for correct punctuation etc. I certainly was not asked to come in and sit and do 6 reports. Overkill in my opinion and totally turned me off to this company.
I've always loved to type, enjoy words, & the act of

I will try that...thanks...never even crossed my mind to do it that way--LOL
nm
I had an ESL spell "sheet" for me. Must've had someone type "sh*t" one time.
xx
Maybe things have crossed over to ridiculous

yea, read that he apparently crossed...nm

thought has crossed my mind...sm
I would give you a word of advice from someone who has learned the hard way.  Make sure you arrange for time off/vacations with your clients if not too late.   I never get time off because they expect me to provide coverage, which is understandable.  I would have to proof everything as I would still be responsible, so where's the vacation!!  Should have made sure they understood I would take a week or so every year and while gone, it was their problem!
That thought crossed my mind prior...LOL..nm

In 12 years of MT'ing I've never re-read an entire chart. Edit/read as I type. nm

If it rains hard, the wind blows hard and there are trees
nearby, it snows heavily it will mess up the signal.  The speed is not constant, sometimes as slow as dial-up, but at least still connected.  Many companies will not allow satellite.
So, you think it is okay for hard-working MTs to earn 7-8 cpl for their hard work?? nm

Big Brother fans. Looks like Jennifer double crossed Kaysar. Sorry but Kaysar is dumb as a rock
Maybe he should be voted out AGAIN!  Stupid is as stupid does.   Bye-bye Kaysar.
same here- my fingers just do not

.... with fingers.

Could it be something on your fingers?
And I ask that in all seriousness and no offense meant. I have had 3 MS Keyboards and have not worn the letters off any of them. Are you maybe putting some kind of lotion on your hands that would eat the letters off? Maybe if you get the sticky letters another poster was talking about you could stick the letters on the front of the keys instead of the top so they don't wear off, but you can still see them.
Nothing to do with your fingers sm
The "Million Dollar Question" was once, "What is the most used vowel in the English Languate?" I supposed "E" as this lasts least on my keyboard.Guess what - it was "e" - DON'T THINK IT WAS ANSWRED CORRECTLY but we who pound the keyboard would have known. Understand 1110 per cent!
Ya know what FINGERS

You speak ridiculous.... let's all tell our employers we are not working until..........

The idea was to organize and get all your ducks in a row.  If you are going to do something, do it with a plan and organize.  You can't just jump the gun and go into something blindly.  You will look ridiculous and get nothing accomplished.

I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne

used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and  Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).

Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best.  In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander.  Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love.  My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything.  You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros.  I love it.  I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.

Cold fingers
Even though I keep my house comfortable, I find my fingers getting cold when I type.  Is it just me. Does anyone have any suggestions.
frozen fingers
do you guys have troubles with her hands getting cold? and what do you do about it?
cold fingers
All the time when I start out before the work area is sufficiently warmed up with the SPACE HEATER. Space heater essential to get fingers going.
let ur fingers do the walking
No....but I transcribed asleep once. I was working 3rd shift and dozed off. I don't know how I managed to work the foot pedal and my C-phone and go through several reports. Luckily for me I woke up and realized what I had done. I scrambled to put my last several reports on hold to check them before the doctor received them who was one hallway over. It scared me so bad I wasn't sleepy for the rest of the night. I've never let myself sit there that sleepy anymore either. I get up and walk around to get myself more alert. Funny thing was I was not transcribing what the doctor was saying. I was using some of their phrases. I guess I would hear a word and it would trigger my memory and I would type a regular phrase. Scared the bejeebers outta me that is for sure!
trained fingers
Makes me think of what it is like for your fingers to "know" a telephone number but for the life of me I couldn't tell you what it is--I'd have to dial it for you.
Cold Fingers
Try typing gloves! I have the same problem. They do help some. I also have been known to sit on a heating pad while typing -- helps warm me up.
Actually the ones I have do not have fingers, just a thumb.

I really love them, There is a strap around the wrist to adjust the tightness, but the neoprene is a great fabric that seems to work really well for me.  I hate to recommend anything because sometimes what is good for one is not so good for another.  I would recommend going to a surgical supply store and they should let you try them on, that is what I did.

fumbling fingers

When that happens to me, I consciously slow down and meticulously try to make no errors and eventually increase my speed.  That seems to help me.

Another trick is to not think about your fingers at all, but still slow down a bit, and then you will find you are on the right track again after a while.  I think it also happens when the dictator does not speak in a good flow of words, is choppy and starts and stops a lot.  Your rhythm is off when that happens.

Hope this helps.

Gee you must have bionic fingers

and/or a very good line rate.  How do you do it?

The only movement should be fingers. I have
and keyboard where I dont have to reach up or down to type. I wedge a pillow between the arm of chair and my body so arm is resting on pillow and supported.  Also have comfort keyboard configured like capital L and reverse capital L.  Hands are in neutral handshake postion at all times.  Also have left backspace bar set up as backspace to stop groping of backspace key (I have small hands).  Took a lot of tweaking and paying attention to what I was doing to streamline things.  Also am streamlining all aspects of work.  Every second I can shave off is more money in my pocket.
lol. I figured my fingers
got all jumbled up and I somehow did it to myself.  It would be quite a coincidence if we both jumbled up the same way at the same time, I think.  Maybe we can get some help from the site administrators.
fingers won't work
Your mind and fingers seem to be at odds. Try to relax more and have a look out the window and maybe free your mind some.
