I was doing this work before there was an AAMT. I had to know anatomy, physiology, all medical terminology, keep up with the latest drugs, put up with bad dictators, use proper grammar, correct the physicians, and all this without an AAMT Book of Style to tell me how to do it. Where did these people come from? Who made them the all knowing....somehow the word was out that THIS was the book to have. Some companies still think it's wonderful to pay them a fee to belong to them....why?, I don't get paid any better and do not know of anyone that does. What have they done on behalf of the MT, really? My pay, relatively speaking, has definitely not gone up in 20 years, considering I was making more 26 years ago than I do now. If they were looking out for the MT and not their own deep pockets, they would be demanding more pay for experienced MTs...it's not gonna happen folks!
