Ask your doctor. I suffer from terrible arthritis myself and I got told to get up often and stretch, walk around and try to avoid meds because I get loopy on pain meds and I can't see straight if I have to take them. If you are the same, you'll have to wait until you are off them to make sense!

If your doctor says, off your bum, no long hours of sitting, I think you had better listen. Knees are much harder to come back from than hips, especially the older you are when you have it done. You don't want to make matters worse and it is better that you should miss work than endanger a successful outcome.

The other thing I tell people they ought to do when they have surgery is to take pain meds on the most frequent schedule you can for the first 3 days and then wean off of them. SLEEP for that time and get a jump on healing. I have had surgery where I didn't do that and then a couple where I did. When I did, I mended more quickly with less pain. Others who have followed this advice shared my experience. I believe that if you don't rest your risk infection and prolonged healing.

so in short, as I digress...BEHAVE YOURSELF
