help keep moisture in the eyes. I had the temporary one put in and it really did help. I had one eye done and am not happy but I do not have the problems you do. It is so hard to know if you will be in that small percentage with bad results. I hope something is found to help relieve or correct some of the problems you are having...good luck and best wishes.

 I actually had the same thing (20 years ago), and they took out two of them, my incision is about 1" at the most, and of course has almost disappeared now. The doctor at that time said he might not would have taken it out, but my sister had history of breast cancer at age 35. Good luck to you!
A terrible, terrible gamble
Medical bills are debt. Debt is big business. Do not expect to find any compassion for your problems when you show up without insurance. You'll be lucky just to get care when they flag your chart "No Insurance" or "Self Pay."
If you are uninsured and do not qualify for state or federal assistance because earnings are too high, you are gambling on everything you own or will own in the future, including future earnings.
If you require elective medical care and have time to work out a cash payment deal in writing with the provider, you may be protected. You will require a signed agreement by every provider - hospital, radiology, lab, interpreting physicians, etc. If you fail to meet the provisions of the agreements you sign, the following will apply to this debt as well.
If you receive medical care without a prior agreement on payment, you will be responsible for the debt. After the fact, the providers have no legal reason to allow you to set up a payment plan. If you send a monthly payment anyway without a prior agreement, the only thing you can hope for is when they take you to court a sympathetic judge or arbitrator takes this into account. A voluntary payment sent by you won't stop any legal action and, in fact, may hurt you in the future trying to resolve the debt.
Every state has a set amount of time before a creditor can sue you (depending on the type of debt). For most states, medical debt is 2 years. So, from the date of service you have 2 years of collection agencies to deal with and then they simply take you to court at which point they will take everything you own and sell it at auction, enforce liens against your current and future earnings, and take every potential bit of future income or asset you may have.There has been some legal challenge to this in some states - check with your state attorney general's office to see if any headway has been made in protecting patients with medical debt.
If you think you'll just go bankrupt, think again. Medical debt is rarely discharged now since the rules have changed, especially if you at some point indicated you would be willing to do a payment plan with the providers - this is used against you.
If you think you can maintain your health and nothing will happen, you are dreaming. Make sure off the top that you no longer have a GB, appendix or uterus. You'll just have to ride out all the little things - UTI, flu, sinusitis, and forget about routine maintenance care. The stress alone of knowing you must not become ill or injured is enough to make you sick.
Anyone who tells you not to worry about medical debt while uninsured or underinsured is either ignorant of the facts, living in another dimension, or just plain lying.

mileage. Do you have a back up vehicle if it breaks down so you can get to work? Personally I just don't think a 100+ plus drive to work is worth it, no matter what the pay, but if your bottom line makes this a better offer you need to figure out if you want to make that drive 5 days a week (unless you can work something out with them and work 10 hour days, and only drive it 4 days a week).

Why were the guardsmen there? We have freedom to protest. The military is not allowed to patrol and keep tabs on the people. That is the job of cops. The military is used to defend the US not control its citizens. The governor of Ohio was wrong and that has been proven. There was no tear gas thrown at the guardsmen, there were stocks and rocks and then the guardsmen shot their guns and killed students.

but also the company can monitor which web site you visit, all emails sent and received on their computer, and just about anything else you do on it. But my main reason for using my own computer is that I have all my info on it, i.e, my favorites for the web, lots of reference material, etc., that is a pain to have to re-enter into another computer. Also, it is much easier to transfer autocorrect from within a computer than from one computer to another (at least that's what I've been told, but in this instance it seemed to be a real problem for this tech).

I wonder if he really needs to see some kind of a counselor about his life in general, but my brother is very hard to suggest things to. But, one thing I do know, if they don't get a handle on this boy's smart-mouth and terrible attitude toward his dad and his grandmother who is helping out, I just believe they are in for some horrific years to come. I've raised 2 teenagers, one who gave me problems and one who did not, and this is different from what I had to deal with and also at a younger age. His dad just seems resigned to the fact that, well, this is how it is and how it's going to be. I can't just sit by and let the whole family crash and burn, but there's only so much that I feel I can do. The grandmother (my mother) is helping, but frankly her "mouth" is about as bad as the teenager's. It's constant back and forth/back and forth between her and him - you would't believe the tone of their voices and the things they say to each other, and then the things he says to his dad. I learned a long time ago that "tone of voices" matters a great deal in general conversation as well as arguments, and to tell you the truth, my mother can be meaner than anyone I know when she gets started.
I'm sorry ths is so long - I guess I got carried away but I might as well leave it now that it is typed. It's just a family problem that we have.

Word is making my crazy and I'm ready to tear my hair out!!
Does anyone else have this problem?
When working in Word, there are TONS of ~WRL0000.tmp files that are created (the 0000 are just placeholders for random numbers) and being used by Word. These files eventually cause the program to crash, close and restart, always giving the message that the normal file has been changed and asking if I want to reload. This can helps SEVERAL times a day and I'm just tired of the aggravation.
I have looked high and low for an answer to this question and I have yet to find one other person that has had this happen. Microsoft is NO help at all. Their KB only says that the normal.dot is corrupted. I have recreated normal.dot and that hasn't fixed the problem, either. I've done the same for the soap.dot that I use for notes--no luck.
The only thing that I can figure is that these .tmp files are copies of the actual note/file I'm working on (I've opened them up and looked at them). Most can be deleted but there are always one or two that can't be deleted because they're being used by another program (or so the computer says). Closing Word and rebooting Windows is not helping either. BTW, I'm working on XP OS.
If there is anyone out there with either the same problem or, better yet, an idea on how to get this stupidity to stop, please let me know before I go totally bananas!

there are always a little bit of difference from state to state and where you live regarding a business license etc. Try to find a CPA that specializes in small businesses, especially if you can find someone who perhaps has other MT's for clients? The gist of an IC is you do not have an employer, so you do not have someone to withhold taxes for you. The thing that always throws IC's is the tax withholding stuff. They have a great fear about it. This is where the CPA will help you out a great deal so you can base decisions on facts, not fear.
You will have another form or to to fill out at tax time (Schedule C, etc.) and next year you will have to do quarterly payments, but it's not that hard.
Who Must Pay Estimated Tax
If you had a tax liability for 2005, you may have to pay estimated tax for 2006.

I made the mistake of doing the taxes myself one year (TurboTax)and ended up getting audited for that year 2 years later. Luckily it only cost me $1200 but I'm sure it could have been much worse. I just go to H&R Block. At least if I get audited again, they'll handle all the work AND pay my fine if it's something they messed up on.

Top 10 Oddball Tax Deductions
TurboTax has outlined some outlandish tax deductions to help you increase your tax refund. We've uncovered what we think are the weirdest deductions allowed, from pet food to free beer to (we're not kidding) a girlfriend.
Can I deduct?
Admit it. As you've worked on your return, trying to come up with extra deductions to pump up your refund, you've taken a few flights of fancy. "Can I claim a deduction for all those blood donations at the Red Cross?" Nope.
"How about a charitable contribution for all the time I donate to the church?" Nope, again. "The wedding gift for the boss's daughter as an employee business expense?" Come on! On the other hand, over the years your fellow taxpayers have beaten the IRS in court on payments for many crazy things that most of us wouldn't even dream of claiming. We've uncovered what we think are the weirdest deductions allowed, ranging from pet food to free beer.
1. Pet food
A couple who owned a junkyard was allowed to write off the cost of cat food they set out to attract wild cats. The feral felines did more than just eat; they also took care of snakes and rats on the property, making the place safer for customers. When the case reached the Tax Court, IRS lawyers conceded that the cost was deductible.
2. Moving the family pet
If you are changing jobs and meet a couple of tests, you can deduct your moving expenses — including the cost of moving your dog, cat or other pet from your old residence to your new home. Your pet — be it a Pekingese or a python — is treated the same as your other personal effects.
3. A trip to Bermuda
This island is more than just a scenic place to visit: It's a great place to schedule a tax write-off. Business conventions held in Bermuda are deductible without having to show that there was a special reason for the meeting to be held there. That's a sweet perk.
Other countries in the Caribbean region qualify, too, including Barbados, Costa Rica, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Meetings held in Canada, Mexico and all U.S. possessions also receive this favorable tax treatment. Attend a convention in Paris, Rome or Beijing, though, and there's no deduction unless you can show it made as much sense to travel abroad as to head to Pittsburgh.
4. Body oil
A pro bodybuilder used body oil to make his muscles glisten in the lights during his competitions. The Tax Court ruled that he could deduct the cost of the oil as a business expense. Lest it be seen as a softie, though, the Court nixed deductions for buffalo meat and special vitamin supplements to enhance strength and muscle development.
5. A private airplane
Rather than drive five to seven hours to check on their rental condo or be tied to the only daily commercial flight available, a couple bought their own plane. The Tax Court allowed them to deduct their condo-related trips on the aircraft, including the cost of fuel and depreciation for the portion of time used for business-related purposes, even though these costs increased their overall rental loss.
6. Babysitting fees
Fees paid to a sitter to enable a mother to get out of the house and do volunteer work for a charity are deductible as charitable contributions, even though the money didn't go directly to the charity, according to the Tax Court. The Court expressly rejected a contrary IRS revenue ruling.
7. Breast augmentation
In an effort to get more tips, a stripper with the stage name "Chesty Love" decided to get breast implants to make her a size 56FF. A female Tax Court judge allowed Chesty to write off the cost of her operation, equating her new assets to a stage prop. Alas, the operation proved to be a problem for Chesty. She later tripped and ruptured one of her implants.
8. Landscaping
Sole proprietors who regularly meet clients in a home office can deduct part of the costs of landscaping the property. The deductible portion is based on the percentage of the home that is used for business, according to the Tax Court. The Court also allowed a deduction for part of the costs of lawn care and driveway repairs.
9. Free beer
In a novel promotion, a gas station owner gave his customers free beer in lieu of trading stamps. Proving that sometimes beer and gasoline do mix, the Tax Court allowed the write-off as a business expense.
10. Swimming pool
A taxpayer with emphysema put in a pool after his doctor told him to develop an exercise regimen. He swam in it twice a day and improved his breathing capacity. Turns out he swam in the pool more than his family did.
The Tax Court allowed him to deduct the cost of the pool (to the extent the cost exceeded its added value to the property) as a medical expense because its primary purpose was for medical care. Also, the cost of heating the pool, pool chemicals and a proportionate part of insuring the pool area were treated as medical expenses.
Bonus Oddball Deduction
A girlfriend. The owner of several rental properties hired his live-in girlfriend to manage them. Her duties included finding furniture, overseeing repairs and running his home. The Tax Court let him deduct $2,500 of the $9,000 he paid her. The disallowed portion was for nondeductible personal services.

Actually, you can put a block on your credit report that
NO credit card companies solicit you at all. Look up the three credit reporting agencies online and see what their websites say. Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. I don't get any at all except from American Express to my old business name.
As for the automated phone systems, I just push zero a bunch of times until I get a human. Impatient, I am!

that is what I do....granted a new crop comes in the next day, but I just keep blocking away. What is weird is I used to get a couple a day, now about a week or so ago it just went crazy and jumped to as you say 15-20 a day. I really don't want to change my email address either, so I guess I will just keep doing as I am doing, or else turn my Spamkiller back on.

Call them right after a phone call comes in that is a hang up. Apparently, this happens a lot since SBC has an 800 number for this request.

They have even had a couple of bands come and play. This was a problem last year for me because I needed my sleep and worked weekends. This year, it will be nice since I now work nights. For a short street, it is really lively.

what is padding? I have worked in this field for over 30 years now. I have very good speed and regular typing I could do at least 2000 per day. Now with VR and straight combined I do about 3200 per day. My audio will not go that fast in order for me or anyone to do 1000 per hour. The most I have done in an hour (without having to slow the machine down, listening only) was about 600. It cannot be done with my audio system, totally impossible as fast as you can set it.
I've used H&R Block TaxCut
on-line mainly because over the years I've needed "people"  to help with questions on tax issues that were a little complicated, especially last year with a move, partial-residence state taxes, sale of home, etc. I've not had any complaints with it. I paid for the highest service last year so I had unlimited access for questions, and the guy was really great, reviewed and signed the tax returns and actually called me with some questions. I've considered going to TurboTax though in the future because so many seem to like it, just haven't made the switch since I've got everything stored with TaxCut so far.

I worked for a company who did that. They had a list of approved sites that we could access, such as onelook, rxlist, physician search sites, E-mail, etc. They would also allow the MTs to put in requests for sites we thought should be added to the "allowed list."
Be careful doing that unless you somehow block out the pt name - could be illegal. nm

Can an employer use software to search what is on your computer and how can you block this? (sm)
When an employer downloads their program onto your computer can they put software on it so that they can get into your computer and see what is on it, such as folders, files, etc? If so, is there any way to block it? This just popped into my mind the other day and I was wondering about it.

I think it's *67 to block unknown callers and *69 to find out last unblocked caller. There is another key combination to press when you want the phone company and/or police department to trace nuisance calls. You can fight this. Public edcuators have it rough. First, no respect in the classroom, then these punk kids think they can mess with you at home. Fight back. Escalate it to police chief, mayor, and supervisor of the phone company if you're getting nowhere with the lowly peons.

If I were the parents, I would most likely be blaming myself; not my friends that I left my 2 year old with and not the person who hit the child on the highway! It would have been my responsbility to either have my 2 year old with me or at least make sure the people I left him with were responsible. As for the driver of that car, what were the driving conditions; apparently it was at night; was it raining; was it foggy; did they even see that little,tiny child; was the child standing or crawling or just lying on the road???????? It sounds horrible but maybe the driver just felt a bump! Maybe the driver didn't even realize he had hit a child! Maybe the driver just thought he ran over a board in the road. I'm one of the few, I guess, who believes the safety of your child lies only within your power. According to some, accidents do happen, but I don't believe in accidents! Accidents, according to the dictionary, are considered to be unforseen incidents.....we as parents, however, must use common sense to try to abate these "unforseen incidents".
Again, I do have greath empathy for the parents, their friends and for the driver of that car. They certainly did not preplan this but maybe a little bit of preplanning would have prevented it. I am sure that little 2 year old will be another beautiful angel in Heaven and that eventually his parents will know he is happy and in a good place.

I wonder if the accounts are seeing a reduction in the price that they are being charged -- that is what I want to know. Went through this when NFTA came into effect with my husband and truck drivers. Also the car industry has gone through this with all the jobs going overseas. Pretty soon the doctors won't have any patients because no one will have insurance or jobs or be able to pay so they will be out of a job. I hope it eventually all backfires on them but I doubt it. I have talked to my local doctors, senators, anyone that will listen about this but no one seems to be worried. Tax bases will go to pot with everyone out of work, no one to pay the government. All we can do is to keep voicing our opinions.

My son has terrible allergies and...sm
in past years has been on Singulair and Nasonex for them. They have always worked well together in the past to keep him from ending up with an upper respiratory infection and eventually nausea and vomiting from all of the mucus. This year; however, those two drugs do not seem to be doing the trick. I took him to the doctor and they switched him to Flonase and an Azmacort inhaler.
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with these medications and what type of results you got. I know Flonase is supposed to be wonderful for allergies, but I'm curious about the Azmacort. His nasal congestion does seem to be a little better than yesterday but I have not been able to guage any benefit from the Azmacort yet (I know, it's still early to tell). The doc said that if these meds do not work he will have to start getting allergy shots.
He will be 8 on Sunday. He has been suffering every year (this time of year is horrendous) since he was 3. Just curious to hear any comments and/or suggestions.

and will get to the point that he actually vomits up mucus. (I know not pretty). We have gone around and around over the past few years trying different medications. This year his doc put him on DuraTan PE. There is a pediatric formula and an adult formula. I have had a hard time finding info on this medication via the internet because it is realatively new, but it is a combination of phenlephrine HCl, Chlorpheniramine maleate, and Methscopolamine nitrate. It seems to work like a charm. Dried him right up. And my doc gave us free samples. You might ask your doc about it.

But of course anyone who would protest at a soldier's funeral is just a *freak* IMO. There are other places to appropriately protest the war if they are so inclined.

That is very rude of her. That is very intrusive and you are right to feel strange. It seems like a bit of domestic violence going on here, the fact that she does not even think about your feelings. What if you posted all over a board which was antigay with your company name (not suggesting you are antigay but just an example)... I bet she would hit the roof, and get the ACLU involved, etc.
Do express your concern to the people who run the business. They may feel this unprofessional and request that this be taken care of in an appropriate manner. Don't feel bad. It is normal to feel strange when your rights are stepped on. Descrimination and reverse descrimination comes in all forms and there is never an excuse for it even if it would be considered PC. Good luck.
