How long do crickets live in the house?

Michigan.  I live in Texas.  There is a clinic nearby me hiring MTs to work in house.  I went and interviewed yesterday.  When it came down to me asking her questions I found out that the in-house job was mainly editing speech recognition.  She out sources all the standard transcription work.  She has some ICs at home that do some things to.  I asked her if she was planning to do away with the MTSO and bring all the work in-house and hire locally.  She says her goal is to convert all files to the speech and do away with the MTSO. 

I just wished they would understand it would be better for the economy keep the money here and not outsource to places unknown.  When I worked in-house for a hospital, I referred several friends and family to the doctors I worked for, whom otherwise would have gone elsewhere.   Employees are the best advertisers there are.  Not everyone pays attention to billboards, TV ads, radio ads.  I usually tune it out myself if I am not interested in it.   The local hospitals are more capable of doing things that the locals don't know about so they drive elsewhere.  But I think they all see black and white. 

It is so beautiful down there in the fall with the leaves changing.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  We don't mind that Gatlinburg is too comericial, we have kids and it's fun for them.  Always do Dollyworld when here are there!  The kids love it.  We always rent a chalet when we go.  This year I think we are going to go into North Carolina and see the Trail of Tears drama Unto These Hills about the Cherokee Indians.

I used to make $70,000 and up a year and did so for most of the late 80s and 90s (one girl used to make six figures a year working 7 days a week!)  Because we were making more money than the supervisors and Medical Records Directors in hospitals, they began to switch to transcription services which were sprouting up all over the place.  Plus AAMT came into existence and even though in the beginning it claimed it was to fight for transcriptionists (although assured us it was NOT a union), they eventually morphed into an organization that was more management friendly.  They developed the "guidelines" and the 65-char line.  That was the beginning of the end for those high-end wages.  Then all those mickey mouse transcription schools popped up, and now outsourcing overseas.  YES, we're complaining.

We didn't plant them, but they were probably about 5 to 10 years old when we bought the house.  We sold the house about 8 years later.  A couple of them at that time had already died, and they all died within a few years after that and had to be cut down.

They are very nice to look at and grow fast. I did not have any problems with "sucker shoots", they all grew upwards.  The trees also do take the wind very well, never any broken branches, etc.   If you need a quick fix, I would certainly recommend them.  Only downside is that they are not very long-lived.   

I would like to take a part-time in-house MT job.  Unfortunately, there a few jobs out there.  The local hospital has an ad for a full-time MT position.  I had applied there many years ago and withdrew my application.  The pay was quite low and the hours were not flexible at all.  For example, one hour for lunch meant one hour for lunch! 

I wondered if I should apply and tell them I am only interested in part-time, not full-time and see if they are interested.  Or should I just assume that they are still very rigid in their thinking?  I don't want to waste their time or mine but really would like to go in-house a few days a week at this point.
