New computer - dictionary seems limited
My desktop crashed so I bought a laptop. The dictionary for the system does not seem to be picking up near the medical terms my desktop did and the new computer has a newer version of MSWord. Is there anything I can do to expand this? I have Stedman's but some of the things it is saying I am misspelling are very basic medical terms and I did not have this problem with my old computer.

How to copy a glossary to a new computer
I have a new computer with IT existing that I would like to update with the old computer's glossary, especially one. I figured out how to email it to myself, but am not sure exactly step by step how to get it to the new computer. I am not sure if I'd be replacing the old one or updating it. The old one also has some includes, so it gets confusing from there. At this point, I would be content just to have the main glossary...I think...Eeek. Can someone help please? Thanks!

I've been Googling it and there is some info about going from WordPerfect to Word, but I can't find anything about importing them from Word to WordPerfect.
I just got really screwy account where we have to transcribe the reports in WordPerfect to get the line count, then save them in Word to send to the client.

Google MS Word, delete autocorrect entries

This is a very basic computer skill/concept. You copy files to another drive using Explorer.
There are very detailed instructions in the Help files that accompany Windows. You can read those for more information.
Basically, you open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer). Locate the files you want to copy, highlight and right mouse click. Choose Copy. Now, find the location where you want to copy these files (usually another drive like D: or H:, whereever the flash/jump/thumb drive is located) and paste the files there.

Are you trying to move your macros from Word on one computer to Word on another?
If so, try this....Go to microsoft.com and search for Word 2000 Supplemental Macros. When you get the article, it will tell you to download the small application. You will open the application in Word, and it will give you instructions on backing up the macros you already have. You will do this on the computer you want to move macros from. Once you have made a backup copy, email it to yourself. Go to the computer you want to put the macros on. You will need to download the Word Supplemental 200 Macro application on this computer also. Save the email you sent yourself on your desktop, and open the application in Word again just as before. You will select restore and pick the file on your desktop to restore to. The macro will do all of the work and transfer all of the macros into your new computer.
Now, if this is not want you wanted....... never mind.....
That is "web site" in post above. Also, Auto Copy add-on for Firefox will automatically copy
Auto Copy add-on for Firefox AUTOMATICALLY copies what you select (highlight) on a web site to the clipboard.
Then you can paste it in a document.
It just saves the step of right clicking and then clicking on "copy" to put something on the clipboard. Just select it, and it is on the clipboard.
It only works only on web sites-- only copies stuff you select on web sites, i.e. not in other documents.
They may not have word on their computer
They might not have word on the computer and do now wish to install it. They might have word pad or note pad and that does not have a spell checker.
Do you use Word on your computer of

Two versions of Word on the same computer will only work
correctly if the oldest version is installed *first*.
I do not copy to text. I copy the spf sm

My autotext entries are gone!!!!
I use a program called iType. When I add an autotext entry it is there until I shut down and open program again. I know that I have to add autotext entries outside of the actual iType program - I open word and add them there but they are being deleted somehow. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I use Word 2003.
Thank you.
Modifying entries
I just pull up the ShortHand window, highlight the entry I want to change, right click it and select modify.
Also, my shortcut for yo is --. It will spell it without the space that way.
AutoCorrect Entries
I think the answer to your question is "no". Use Start/Search to find a file called "proflwiz.exe". This is the Office Profile Wizard and will assist you in saving and transferring your AutoCorrect entries, spelling entries, etc. These settings are in a file with extension OPS. Use the profile wizard on the "old computer" to export the OPS file to a new location (desktop will work), then transfer the OPS file to the "new computer" via email, disc, or FTP. Once you save the OPS file to the "new computer" (desktop will work), use the profile wizard on that computer and follow the directions. If my instructions are wrong or confusing, do a search on Microsoft's Knowledge Base for "Office Profile Wizard". I haven't done this in a while.
Someone please tell me how my autotext entries

how do I print my shorthand entries

Only 4000 entries? hmm, I have 14,000 and use about 8000/day
guess I just don't know what I'm doing wrong with my acute care job. A good day to me is 1700 lines. My average day is 1300.
Yes, DOS was the ideal setting for production. Your "what planet are you on" comment made me think about several Pink Floyd songs!
Auto test entries
Does anybody know how to "save" one's own private auto text entries (within Microsoft Word) and also how to later print-out this file? Thanks in advance!
AUTO "TEXT" ENTRIES
Sorry, I asked about auto "test"......I ment auto TEXT
Auto Text entries
The file should be located here:
c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoft emplates
There are a couple of other "critical" files that you should also back up. One is CUSTOM.DIC - (this is your dictionary) c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftproof
and the other is MSO1033.acl (AutoCorrect entries) c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftoffice
boldface autocorrect entries
Highlight your bolded entry, go to Tools, click formatted entry. Add it like a regular autocorrect entry.
Thank you. Wow, you have a lot of entries! I was afraid it would crash with my
10 to 12,000. Thank you for your response. I'm trying to tinker with the ESPs and wondering if there is a way to insert a hard space in an expansion. (Such as between Dr. and his last name so there is no separation to another line when I expand. Any idea how this could be done? Thanks again for your time. I do appreciate your help.
Yes, it will get buggy like that as you fill it up with entries sm
It's time to think of buying a real expander. My recommendation is Shorthand. They have a web site where you can purchase it. It is a wonderful program, much better than the autocorrect/autotext.
Lost autotext entries
Look in your recyle bin. That happened to me once and I found them in my recyle bin. I was not real good about keeping mine backed up either and I sure was glad to find them in the recyle bin!
