daughter a kitten. I haven't had a cat since I was a kid. I'm kind of a dog person. The darn thing keeps playing with all the cords and wires under my desk and jumping on my desk and walking on my C-phone and keyboard and knocking stuff off my desk. I'm losing my mind! He's very playful and he is very rough. He is always attacking my feet while I'm working and not to sound like a baby, but it really hurts! I put him in "time-out" by putting him in a separate room and shutting the door for like 10 or 15 minutes, but he just goes right back to his bad behavior. It's definitely not like training a dog!
Help me please! My line count is suffering on account of his silly cat and I don't think my boss is going to buy my cat as a legitmate excuse!

Take it apart and check the wires and if - sm
everything is set together properly inside, maybe the spring moved, or a wire broke or a plastic piece broke. Check you connection too, make sure it is tight/good. Also make sure the settings on your computer did not get screwed up somehow as well. These footpedals last forever. I have 2 (1 for backup and travel) and they are both 4+ years old. My travel/backup one I use 2 x a week (work while in car while kids are at ballet class) and it gets banged around on a regular basis; still works like a champ.
Update on my kitten to everyone who is interested.
I talked with the vet this morning. Apparently, he had explosive diarrhea last night and he has a temperature of 106. They have started IV fluids and antibiotics. The vet thinks he has a virus. They checked for feline leukemia and it was negative and they said all his other blood work was negative too. I am supposed to call back this afternoon to find out if he is doing better and when he will be able to come home.
BTW, his name is Tom (pretty original, huh?). I don't think I ever posted his name.

if I remember correctly, it was about the same for my male, but he's 9 years old, so I don't remember exactly. I think the males can be done a month earlier though.
I wouldn't do any younger than that, but would rather see it done earlier than not at all.
The people we got our kitten from have 2 female cats, both having itters of 6 within weeks of each other. If that wasn't bad enough, they both had 2 more litters of 5 each after we got our kitten and then one of them just had 3 more and the other one is due any day now. That is just one spring/summer season with 25 kittens from 2 cats in one household and still waiting for the last batch. 
If your cords are long enough, put it to
one side on the floor or on a file cabinet sitting by your desk, or even underneath. Right now, mine sits on the print stand beside my printer.

I just have to know....Does it drive anyone else absolutely CRAZY when a doctor chews gums or is sucking loudly on candy while dictating???? It drives me insane to the point of being irate by the time I am finished with the report!!!!!!!!!!! I actually get chest tightness and a headache just listening to them.

One Russian psychiatrist actually ate an entire apple while dictating, and her accent could hardly be understand to begin with. We're talking right off the boat.
I particularly like someone eating an item wrapped in paper, because then you get both the chomping and the crackling.
And gum chewers (of which I've had several) who slurp, smack and actually crack the gum into the phone.

I have a gum chewing nurse practitioner, yuck.
this is totally disgusting at 4:30 in the morning. I wish she had to listen to herself for a few minutes.
Playing CD-R
Do you have a photography program, such as Adobe Photoshop, etc.? In order for me to view my photo CDs, I have to open them through my Photoshop program.
Try this:
1. Put your CD in the computer.
2. Open your photo program. There should be a choice, such as "Get Picture", etc. Click on that.
3. You should then have some sort of choice of where to get the picture FROM, such as "Folder", "Drive", "CD", etc. etc. If one of the choices is from your CD, or the drive your CD is in (mine is "E", yours may be different), click on that.
4. If that works, you should then have a list of folders, or a list of picture titles, or whatever. If you click on a folder or picture name, it SHOULD open it in your photo software.
If I just want to view stuff QUICKLY, I invested in a wonderful software program called "Quick View Plus" from Inso Corporation. I love it because it really IS fast, and it'll open just about anything. You may be able to find it at:

You should try playing around with those
settings. In order to move my screen to the right or to the left, I have to push 1 button in to tell it whether I want it go vertical or horizontal and then push the other button to adjust that way.
Since your screen didn't reset when you rebooted, I would have to think the problem is with the monitor itself, i.e. adjust your settings or you have a blackout, which I think means you would have to replace it.
Have you visited the monitor company's website for troubleshooting tips and how to work those settings. There may be free tech support available there.
Your mother was right - but not playing the
sisters games and not allowing her to use you for holidays does not mean you don't love her.

It is just so sad that they take something that has the potential to be good and turn it and distort it and make it ugly. If in your search you run into Davis Transcription, please beware. mind games with us because I do the same thing with Jello! I never make it, but I can say I have at least 3 or more boxes of the pudding and the Jello at all times. My children often see it and beg me to make it. What's the deal? Really, I think it's a leftover 'Bill Cosby' thing for me. I don't know what makes me buy it, I don't even like it. It's an illness. I'm sure of it.

make a password for the computer. I don't agree with be glad it's just video games -- addictions are addictions and can affect the family life just as bad as alcohol, porn or any other bad addiction.
If he's ignoring his family due to the games and it's creating a problem, then it IS a problem. I'm so fortunate in that my DH doesn't even know how to turn on a computer. He's never had an interest.
Password protect the computer. Tell him it's off limits. He will get used to not playing anymore.

when you click on the attachment, you should see open, save, or run. You could save it to your desktop and then open it with Express Scribe, if you have it. Right click on test file, you should see 'open with' with some options. If you have Express Scribe, this should be one of them. Media player or other media players will play it, but not with a pedal, so Express Scribe is your best bet. Good luck!

There's a good variety of relaxing music. I have it on even when I'm not transcribing.
I think it also relaxes my dogs cause they sure sleep well when it's on:)
Express Scribe not playing end of dictation?
Every once in a while I get a file that Express Scribe can't play the last 2-4 minutes of. It appears to be playing, but the sound cuts out. When I send the reports to QA, they say they can hear the whole file fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there something wrong on my end? I checked the NCH website and others have posted this same problem but have received no responses so I am trying here instead. I also tried to play the file in Windows Media and it stops at the same point, but says it can't play the file. I am just confused why QA can get it to play, but I cannot.

It depends on what kind of voice files you're playing.
The sound on Express Scribe is terrible. I think it's worth it to find a player that plays your voice files with good sound. If you use wav files, a Bytescribe wav player would be excellent (get the dongle version so you get unlimited installs). They also have a version that converts DSS to wav. I complained about the DSS files not sounding clean on speed up and slow down so they told me about another version they have. If you have a Bytescrive wav player, it's already on your computer. Of if you're using DSS files you could also use a DSS player. (I've never tried them).
Do U keep playing with the ports and the types of foot pedals? An odd pedal might not work, like a

I have felt this way many times while transcribing. I have actually taken a leave of absence to get over it. It does help.

I've always said I'd rather break a leg....sm
than a hand... and sure enough I did. A few years ago I fell off the top of a ladder and as I was falling, which only took about 5 seconds, my MT survival instincts took over and I stuck my foot out to protect my hands. Three surgeries later I was back at work with a cast on my right leg from ankle to thigh. Believe me, you'll adjust to using your left foot. I did it for almost a year.
