My siblings and hubby and his siblings started doing this a few years ago and they were a big hit. We also used to buy my grandparents gift certificates to the local grocery store and they would use them to buy treats form themselves, things they wouldn't ordinarily buy for themselves. Hope this helps.

Gift of gab is a gift in deed. Not having it has cost me dearly.
I became an MT because of my interest in medical field, fascination with the work and yes, a lack of social skills. I really did think that my work would speak for me.
No...is it a restaurant?
Have gone to a few local restaurants but don't know them all. Is this in Rossville, or Chattanooga?
It is a yummy restaurant
its brand name BBQ sauces. Many many types. Check this out. http://www.lubewings.com/
lol they eat dog too, i think they were just having a shortage of dog at the restaurant so....
they had to do a roundup. Next, they will report the feline virus is out of control and do a roundup on them as well and that's all I have to comment on this post. Take care all!

!I agree no name. We aren't going to a new RESTAURANT
I've seen this kind of pre-hype for new restaurants going to open - billboards, phone calls, tv ads.
But I'm with you - don't waste my time with calling me on the darn phone to
ask me if I got some nonsensical letter that was less than informative, and
then have the person on the other end of the line be dumb as dirt.
lost my number, will ya!
What's your favorite food. Favorite in that you could only have one last meal what would it be?
Indulge me while I stare at computer screen waiting for Q work that isn't there.
I love spaghetti but only served with a great salad with olive oil and some garlic bread. Can't have pasta alone. And needless to say a glass of red wine. No dessert, just extra spaghetti.
Chips and salsa and queso from a REAL Mexican restaurant!
dinner at her fave restaurant, with LOTS of camers, and everybody bring their own ideas.
I never got my certificate
My pedal never materialized either, but I did get a reimbursement for that. I finished going on two years ago and never got it. Seems to me things are going down hill.
IF you paid by credit card, you can call them and try to get it credited back so you will at least have your money. I would keep calling them...every day if you have to.
If you have a certificate in MT, sm
Be careful stating you have a "certificate" in MT. There is a certification through AAMT (or whatever their new name is) but it is vastly different from a certificate from a school. I'm assuming you mean you received a certificate upon completion of an MT course of some kind, as the CMT requires a certain amount of experience, I believe (and a CMT would not have trouble finding work). If that's the case, have you asked the school about job placement assistance? If they are a reputable school, they should know employers that will hire their graduates and help you find work.
I would advise AGAINST getting your own accounts. Not only is there a lot to learn about running the business side of it, you will be completely on your own and there will not be much communication or hand-holding from the doctors or their staff. Many doctors will not look twice at someone without experience, either. If you go out there marketing for your own accounts, then the doctors are going to expect you to have all the equipment necessary, be well trained, well educated, and able to produce client-ready documents without assistance on their part. They will expect you to be current on any technology they wish to use. That is why they outsource MT - so they don't have to spend time and money training someone or furnishing equipment, etc. If you do work for local doctors and cannot provide all of that, it could do more damage to your reputation than good. Most docs know each other and talk. That word of mouth is crucial and can make or break you. I'm sorry, but my honest opinion is that a newbie cannot possibly provide the superior service most offices desire because they don't know what it is just yet. If it was as easy as just "working hard," everyone would be doing it, after all. There are a lot of services and individuals out there competing for the doctors' work, so you have to be able to provide better quality and service than they do.
Oh, and also, a lot of private practice doctors are far pickier than you might think. They often actually read their reports before signing them (especially when you are new to them), refer to the reports often in their charts, and expect them to be up to par. If they see a lot of typos or errors, they will cut you loose and move on to the next service looking to earn their work. Who do you think sets forth the specifications that many of the companies you have already spoken to or tested with? Probably their clients!
Now, is it possible you might find some doctor out there willing to give it a shot? Yes. But just because doctors in one town haven't heard of the BOS, that doesn't mean others have not. Did your MT course not go over BOS rules? If BOS rules are what you are having trouble with and want to avoid, then I suggest getting a copy of the current BOS, studying it, and learning it so future testing is excellent. If you test well with a company even without experience, they'd be foolish not to at least take a second look. If you lack experience and don't test well, what incentive do they have to hire? There are a LOT of good MTs looking for work right now, so you have to make yourself stand out above the rest.
If you feel your schooling was inadequate, look into supplemental training at one of the online MT schools that have been approved by the AAMT. Those are the schools that prepare their graduates well enough to get work right out of school and for which companies will often waive experience requirements.
I am not getting my certificate for monetary
reasons. Its for me and my professional pride, which means a lot to me. As for the $$ end, I have been interviewing at several companies, and all did pay, on average, 1 cpl more for CMT. That's quite a differential to me! But I'm staying with my regular job, which does not pay a differential. Its just something I want to achieve in my career.
I'm not talking about a certificate that says you

certification v. certificate
CMT= certified medical transcriptionist.
MTs with 2+ years of acute care experience who pass a test given by the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT)are CMTs. They also need to prove they have accumulated a certain amount of continuing education credits every three years in order to maintain the certification. HTH.
Where'd you get that certificate? Just curious. NM

Are you talking about a Secure Certificate?
I'm not sure if that is the same thing as an e-signature? Perhaps you mean encryption. I'm not sure why you would need to supply a secure certificate to send files to a client; encryption 128-bit encryption should be find; 256-bit even better.
getting cmt is kind of like getting a certificate for being an excellent top of the line blacksmith.
so what? so you jumped through all the hoops, learned the trade and now it is obsolete. but you got your little CMT to keep you warm and cozy? employers are going to pay what they are going to pay (as little as possible) and that little certificate means nothing to them in the broader scheme of MT world as it goes into the VR and offshore world.
oh but mr. national recruiter, i have a certificate and i should have 12 cpl for my skills and education....... bwaaaaahaaaaa.
I think pre-existing stuff may kick in if you have have no certificate of previous coverage.

I really don't know but the best gift I could get is what I have now and that is 2 of the most te
companies anyone could have to work for! Both companies are simply wonderful. It is very hard to find ONE company that is the best but to find TWO is too unreal and to me that is the best gift one could ask for. I feel so blessed when I read these boards and see all of the folks who are unhappy. Both companies I have are thoughtful and really care about their people. You really cannot ask for more than that. ;)
No x-mas gift
This will be my second Christmas with this company. I did not receive anything last year so I don't expect to this year either. Still, a good company to work for.

I just sent a gift of food from Popcorn Factory. Will arrive the 19th. I appreciate who I work for. very much.

MT gift
I received a very nice tote bag with the Transolutions' logo with a very nice card. The bag has lots of pockets--love it! Happy MT Week!
Did u get a gift?
I didn't. I guess technically we're not entitled to getting anything but it still would have been nice to get a card or something to show more appreciation for what we do. Just my thoughts. I think it depends on the size of the company.
gift
I scrapbook so of course I think in terms of pictures, momentos. How about a small scrabpook (4x6) filled with pics on great romantic paper. OH even has a scrapbook section. Check it out. Even if she doesn't scrap, you can buy kits that include everything you need and then put it together adding a few personal touches like journaling.

When my husband returned from overseas I brought him a coffee cup filled with chocolate candies. The cup had an American flag on it. And a nice card. He really isn't going to be interested in the gift, so a token gift would be plenty. Enjoy your reunion!
Gift
I give my doctors cookie trays. Somebody else suggested poinsettas.
Each day is a gift
and I do not say that lightly because my last week or so has sucked big-time donkey eggs. I said to my hubby this morning "Okay, honey, I'm leaving for the office now." He looked at me and cracked up because I was standing in the hallway in what he calls my "fart sack" a giant, several-sizes-too-big flannel nightgown. My kids are both home sick with mono and getting them through final exams and everything is going to be a challenge. The flip side of that is how lucky I am to work from home so that I can oversee their recovery and still earn a paycheck. I've resolved to try to find the silver lining in every cloud today.
By the way, those of you who saw my most on the gab board about DH's cellulitis, it seems to have miraculously started clear. I'm not getting cocky yet because he still has a pocket of infection near the top of his scar but he might be okay!
Gift
When my neighbors watch my cat while we're on vacation, I usually also get something from the place I visited.

What is an appropriate gift ( reasonable ) to give a doctor's office that has a ton of employees ( I am an IC)? I feel I should give them something since I do appreciate the work, but do not want to spend a ton of $$. Thanks
thank you gift
We recently had a family reunion on my husband's side, hosted on 2 different days by 2 different cousins. We want to send them both a nice gift for their gracious hosting. Both families are in their 40s/50s, husband and wife. Thanks for any ideas.
gift
I have sent a basket that has different cheeses, sausages and the mix.. You can get those pretty reasonable. I think the name of the place is Figi's?
If they have hobbies, how about gift
their favorite stores? Also, sometime you might write them a letter telling them how you feel about them (if you are close and care about them a lot). Nothing like a genuine, heartfelt gift to make a girl cry....seriously. I still have a letter from my little brother from when he was in about 5th grade (he's 35 now with kids of his own) and it is just precious. Don't force it, though, only if you really mean it. Maybe even include pictures from when you were all kids.
Wedding gift
If you already have two households of "stuff" you obviously don't "need" the money either, especially since you are going to have a yard sale. Two terms come to my mind - trailer trash and greed - if the shoe fits - put one of them on and leave me off your guest list. Personally, I would make a donation to the children's home, as I no longer send flowers to a funeral when a charity is listed. I send money to the charity and the family receives a card saying that a donation has been made in the memory of the deceased person. Since you don't seem to mind asking your guests for money - may I ask your age and the age of your fiance? Just trying to put this in perspective
I got the BEST Mother's Day gift!
Back in December I had a car accident. I was POURING rain and the woman in front of me slammed on her brakes rather suddenly. I hit my brakes, but I guess because of all the water on the road I didn't stop, I slid and hit her.
Her car had very little damage, if any. My car (Dodge Stratus) had about $1000.00 worth of damage to the front end. The airbags did not deploy though because it was a very low impact accident.
Well, I had removed collision insurance from my auto policy because at the time I couldn't afford it. My son had been having some medical problems and I was trying to cut corners any way I could.
My car has been sitting at a body shop since December waiting to be repaired. The estimate was $900.00 to replace the hood, headlights, and pull the engine forward as the accident had pushed it back some and clamed the radiator hose shut and the fans weren't turning either. The estimate did not include painting.
I have not been able to afford getting my car repaired yet. I have been driving an old piece of junk that my parents have sitting at their house as a "back up" vehicle for emergencies. It burns oil like the dickens, smokes like crazy, no air conditioning (in NC that is critical), and drinks gas like its going out of style.
Yesterday my son and I went to my parents house for lunch. I pulled in the driveway, AND THERE SAT MY CAR!!!!!! I swear to you, I cried. I couldn't believe my eyes. They had had it repaired and painted. Well, they painted the new hood and the front fenders. The fenders didn't have any damage, but they did it in order to blend the paint. It looks increadibly good. I can't even tell any difference between the new paint and the "old paint".
They also took it to Stanley Steemer and had the interior steam cleaned. When they did that, they also cleaned the motor, so it looks brand new. The only thing left is getting a new front bumper. It has a couple of cracks in it up where the hood and the bumper meet. But the body shop could not find a used bumper for it and to replace it with a new one would cost $900.00 by itself. So, we will be looking out for a used bumper and when we find one we will have the bumper replaced and have the entire car painted. I can wait for that though. I am just so thrilled to have my car back!!! No more piece of junk for me!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!
