I'm doing it now. I went to community college to get my AA and am now working on my BA. I'm 45 now so my kids are grown so that's a lot easier than dealing with a young child.
So far, my experience, most jobs which you can find with an AAS in Accounting or AA Business, will only pay about $10-$15 per hour to start and honestly you don't really even need an AA to do them - payroll clerk, AA/AR, etc. I actually want to get into tax accounting or auditing/forensics which is why the whole BA pursuit. I've got two years to go as I'm only taking 9 credit hours a semester.
My thought process is, even after I finish school I have a good 15-20 years left to work and plan for my future (HA!!) so I may as well do something I enjoy and that's not MT any longer.
I worked full time and went to school full time for two years and it was stressful so I cut back to three classes per semester when I moved to the 4-year University.
I say go for it. You're young, time is on your side and have nothing to lose. Good luck to you.
