I had a dual boot up setup. sm
I had 1 monitor,
2 keyboards,
2 mouse, 2 tower PC.
It had a button to push to switch over to the other PC.

On 1 PC was their platform and I needed to still access my PC for all my reference stuff I had created.

So on their PC, somehow it was set up where both PCs, my DSL, the internet to use Google and email

Sounds cumbersome, but it was okay, set up at the same workstation, did not have to shift chairs, the keyboards were kinda on top of each other or just in front of the other. Used the same monitor for both PCs.
Hillbilly site even tells you how to make your own sanitary pads! (sm)
Okay, after posting before how impressed I was with the websites, I went back and started reading again....so much info!  They even tell you how to make your own sanitary pads!  I don't think I'll be doing this, but I have to say I am loving the cheap, easy recipes.  There are so many that sound really good!  Okay, I'm going back to read more now, but the sanitary pad section just threw me for a loop and I had to come back and share!  Really is very good information though, all kidding aside.
The site tells me to change an index.html code to access. Dunno what that is??? nm

I have dual citizenship
British and American and lived in England growing up.
Anyone ever tried Dual Action Cleanse or any other colon cleansing products? sm
The infomercial was not pretty, and this guy focused way too much on BMs and such, but said that John Wayne died with 42 pounds of undigested material in his colon ... yuck!  Supposedly, you use this product and feel tons of energy and all that ... wondered if it was just more hype or maybe someone had actually tried it.  ?
A newer computer with a dual core processor runs cool. No need for it.

Bucky might get the boot . .
Simon was right - that hair was just bad! The stylists are doing them wrong.
Chris got the boot.
A very talented man; dont' fret his life has been changed forever, he will be a very, very rich man, and deserving of it.  He is a bald rocker?  I cannot get behind that, if you are a rocker you have to have hair.  He has such an ego that when Seqrist blurted it out, he was shocked.  I feel sorry for his overweight wife and her insecurities.  At one point earlier in the AI season,  he did a song that he felt was proper, about trying to be loyal to his wife, and all things associated with sudden stardom.  You guys take this far to seriously, the American people vote, and we have only been wrong once, when Rubin beat out Clay, I could not believe that, still don't. I was glad to see him go, he needed to be taken down at least a notch.  He got too confident, and last week and this week, he got beaten out.  Get over it.
How far does it get into the boot process? sm
A bootup problem always suggests something related to the hard drive, but there's stuff that happens during the boot before the hard drive comes into the picture. Do you see anything at all on your screen when you turn the computer on?
When does it occur? On boot up? downloading? other?

How can I set Shorthand so that it opens when I boot up?
p
At too low a line rate and probably as an IC to boot. nm
s
How long before they give you the boot?

When starting out entry level at a company, what is the norm for probationary period?  I worked partime as an IC MT for a year for a friend, did inhouse TX for 7+yrs for specialty MD's office. All this and never had a problem.

Now that I am doing IC work with a national, it seems that everything I thought I knew about grammar and terminology couldn't hold a candle to the expectations of the nat'l companies.  Now I am begining to get self conscious about every little thing to the point where it takes me a rediculous amount of time to get it done.

It's not like I'm making huge mistakes or anything.  For the most part I do have my terminology and grammar down......its just the little things.  For example, I never knew that there was a difference in the way the phrase 'follow up' should be written-as two words, hyphenated or as one single word.  Didn't know that it depends on if it is used as a noun, adjetive, verb, etc.

I like the company I work for, but man do I feel inadequate.

Sometimes it is very difficult to boot up and click on that first report (sm)
every morning, but I'm always grateful that I am able to be at home to do this job. I recently contemplated getting back out in the regular workforce, but a couple of weeks ago I had reality smack me in the face.

My daughter has to be dropped off an hour early at school 3 days a weeks for a choral group she participates in. It's quite rare that I have be the taxi as my husband leaves for work early enough to take her, and the school is on his way to work.

One morning, he had to be to work quite early, so the job fell to me. It was dark, cold, and rainy with spitting snow that morning. As I sat in the Jeep warming it up and waiting for my daughter to drag herself out of the house, my brain was screaming NEVER, EVER DO I WANT TO DO THIS EVERY MORNING. NO WAY! NO HOW! PLEASE LET THIS BE OVER SOON.!

I wanted to kiss my house when I got back into the warmth and light, I kid you not. After working at home for 14 years, I am ill-suited to deal with the weather, traffic, and people woes the 9-to-5'ers deal with every day.

Thank you God for blessing me with the skills and intelligence to be an MT.
excuse the typos, it's been a long day and having different fights with my DH tonight to boot - n

no I'm not first, he tells me so too
My fiance' has informed me many times that his kids will always be first: kids first, me second.  He's been raising them alone for 2 years now so they really take a toll on him (therefore US) emotionally, financially, even physically because his son is mentally handicapped and his daughter is extremely lazy and spoiled...so he is constantly cleaning up messes, doing unneccessary laundry, dishes, etc.  (Could start a whole topic on that alone.)  I have no kids, never been married.  I love his kids but I can't say I'd give my life for them or anything.  In fact, the more I explore our relationship I seriously doubt I will marry this man.  Already he speaks of providing for them with me providing for myself and marriage is a joint effort.  I resent the idea of furnishing a spoiled lifestyle for two kids who are not biologically mine.  He's already mentioned that he'd provide for the kids & money I make could be "our" money.  Well that amounts to me supporting the family, in my opinion....for what he buys the kids could also be used for paying bills, groceries, etc.  Sigh, I think I deserve better...a better life than this.
Exactly right. If no one tells you, you won't know.
nm
I don't think there is anything that tells you

how much RAM any particular process uses.  If you have less than 1056 you don't have enough to be leaving a lot of programs open.

You can run a defrag and that might free up some stuff if you haven't done it in a while.  Running a defrag doesn't allow you to do anything else on your computer though.  I run it when I'm through for the night.

You can do an Msconfig and see if you have hidden programs running in the background and you can disable them from loading on startup.

Something Tells Me That -
Who tells everyone how fantastic their employer is, yet refuses to divulge the name should anyone ask because you fear they'll take your job.

Am I right?

Thought so.

I don't worry about those types of things. I'm secure enough in my skill and knowledge that I'm willing to share info with and help any MT who needs it.

Life's too short for such paranoid delusions.
Maybe just a letter that tells her how much you
appreciate her and everything she's done for you, how much you love her, et cetera.  I would much rather have something like that from my children than a gift. Gifts are nice, too, but sometimes something from the heart just means so much more.
Your own physician tells you that you know too much. nm
//
I like her. She tells the TRUTH, IMO. nm
.
One of the posters tells.
nm
Yes, our drug book tells us this
nm
Do you believe that story. That is what they told her to say. MQ tells everyone what to say to get
what they want. You would not believe the lines I have heard from my office. I have asolutely no respect for these people. They lie through their teeth for MQ. MQ is hiring because they want to have a very short TAT and try to keep the accounts they have and then a lot of people quit because they dont have work and have tons of backups and make no money in them. Everything MQ does is for them and not the MT. You are just along for the ride.
Yes, but only if tells me to sleep all day or eat ice cream.

Thanks. That tells me a lot about why my line count..sm
seems so much lower than I feel it should be since I do about the same amount of work and probably more now, but can not seem to make 1000 lpd.
He tells me he loves me all the time, and not

only does he tell me, he shows me.  He isn't romantic at all, but he does little things all the time that shows he is thinking of me.

He likes to share new experiences with me, he enjoys going to craft shows with.  He isn't particularly fond of working in the yard, but he knows how much I enjoy it and he spends hours working in the yard, even when I'm not working with him.

He cooks and helps around the house (usually without grumbling).  I could serve him burnt toast for supper and he would thank me for a good meal.

He overlooks my faults.

Nice rant, but nobody tells me what to charge. nm

It is where the doctor tells you to "pull forward" SM
something from the patient's last visit. For example, he will say pull forward my problem list, medications, and allergies from job # whatever and you will go back and copy and paste that into the patient's new report. Sometimes they will make changes and sometimes they won't. I didn't know what it was until 2 years ago when I started an account that did it.
Don't like the part where doc's office tells you not to tell her. They should be upfront and
letting her know they approached you and not the other way... I would not trust them... they could drop you just as quickly down the line and she might not hire you back.....
I love Judge Judy. She tells it

What kind of retirement tells you how much you can earn?
I will start drawing from a pension plan this April - I have absolutely nothing saying I can or cannot make X amount of dollars a month. How did you get a retirement that tells you what you can make? This sounds strange to me.
common sense tells me as an IC no takes are taken ouf and if ----
that is true about owing CA taxes - you would pay them the same way you handle Federal and the state you live in.

They are not to take ANYTHING out unless you are an SE or full out employee. ICs, no.
Sense of humor, tells you "good job!" on the hard ones... nm

Good for you. My brother is a sheriff. He tells me things I can't believe! nm

In that case you have to do what your lead tells you, but I would have never even asked my superviso
I would have just transcribed it and moved on. The only thing is, the x-ray is possibly not consistent with the rest of the medical record.

Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.

It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.

We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.

It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!
lie detector tests too huh busy. just to see if everyone tells the truth about credentials and goal

I think they should check your medical and psychiatriac records too and see what type of medications you may be prescribed.  Maybe they could interview your neighbors and family to see if you have a history or lying or fabricating, delusions of grandeur, bipolar or just plain character flaws.  I have noted that on these boards sometimes people tend to fabricate.  hahaha. bwaaaaaaahaaaaaaa

Check it all out before you can get a job working at home.  I mean the pay is worth it to go through all the hoops and if you are exposed as a deviant too bad. No sense it taking ridiculous risks for .8 cents per line doiing medical transcription when you can ship it to India for way cheaper to all those good souls who don't have any vices.

That only tells the grammar checker to flag spaces. Word does not auto space.

I have noticed sometimes I will try to get into a web site and that site will freeze up and I dont

know if I have too many screens opened up and minimized or what. I tried to open a website sent by email and froze up the email screen. Not sure what I am doing.

I subscribe to another web site and within the boards on this site they have

Would anybody be interested if adminstrators would allow us to have this type of board or even put it on the main board.  Like on this other board they tell you to go to a certain web site for a coupon for 20% off Barnes and Noble or when Target has reduced prices on seasonal things.  Anybody got ideas or bargains they would like to share to save money?   We could call it the MT Stars penny-pinchers board.
