It is also probably a good idea to not medicate yourself because of panic/anxiety, at least if that is your ONLY defense against the anxiety you feel. This is just my opinion, of course, I just hate to see someone pop anything--herbs, pills, alcohol to calm anxiety without some kind of counseling or guidance. It really isn't a healthy way to approach the problem.

I have tried one called "Calms Forte", which includes Valerian, Passion Flower and Hops. It wasn't strong enough for me though. Maybe I should take two. I've never tried skullcap.
No info on herbs, but
Lexapro saved my marriage! My husband suffers severe anxiety and depression and had tried a number of different meds. Once his Dr. switched him to Lexapro, it changed everything. He suggests it to anyone who asks. I know all meds don't work well for everyone, but if you haven't tried it you may want to ask your Dr. what he/she thinks.
try herbs for sleeping
I don't work 3rd shift but do have insomnia. I've found that herbs work nearly as well as prescribed meds for sleeping, and I don't wake up feeling groggy. Valerian is good, as is skullcap, but it seems that combinations work best. There's one called Sleep Like a Baby from a mail order company, HCBL, that works really well.
Does anyone have a good web site for herbs and their uses? TIA nm
