1st one in the 1980s was 85 pages....sm
the first AAMT BOS was 85-90 pages long back in 1985....the one I have today, Second Edition bought 2 years ago....has I do believe 600 pages.....

No end in sight for outsourcing
I believe some of the accounts will come back state side, but the outsource offshoring will continue - no end in sight. To look at the bigger picture, our healthcare system is in a mess with no solutions actively being worked on. As monies become tighter in the future and if nothing is being done about fixing our healthcare mess, the motivation is strong for financial officers to send more work offshore because of the cheap labor. Some hospitals now accept offshoring as a solution and when the hospitals themselves directly use this service, well, not much hope to keep the work state side. I believe there are some facilities that will not accept inferior work from any one, state side or otherwise, but I am also seeing that some hospitals WILL accept inferior work motivated by the cheap price. This is happening across all sectors of business in this country. More than 50% of IT jobs are now in India and China with no end in sight. More and more business are trying to find ways to dump their benefits - #1 is health insurance and this affects all of us as more and more people are going without health insurance.
Keep the bills out of sight--sm
For me they are the biggest distraction. I can ignore the phone, tune out the noise but those stinking bills in my line of sight are the worst. I either have to go online and pay them or call so and so and tell them why I am late. I don't pull them out until after I am done or before I start. Otherwise, they stay in the drawer. Now, I keep the paid receipts on top of the desk to remind me why I work like a mule!

I don't think I am in a light of sight for cell towers either. sm
They pick up signals within distances like cell phones do. I don't think a direct line of site is needed period like it is with satellite. With satellite, you have the big dish that is placed on your house and it beams the satellites in space to get your signals. With wireless it gets signals from the towers. You have nothing but you wireless network card or USB plug that picks up the signal from the tower. No big, ugly dish around on my home.
If you can only occasionally get a cell signal, it might not be the best option for you. Do you know anyone around that has wireless? My brother had it and came to my home with his laptop to show me how it worked and that is when I choose to get it. I like that I can now also travel and pick up signals rather than be limited to one location with the satellite on my home also. No need to worry if a hotel has wireless or not as I have it. I would figure out who the best cell phone company provider is in your area and contact them. Tell them specifically your location, your situation with iffy cell signals and see what they suggest. Like I said mine had the 30-day money back guarantee so I knew I could go that route if I saw it wasn't getting good signals for me. All the major cell companies have wireless now, but your best bet is who has the most towers in your area. I am thinking there is a website that shows cell towers and locations, maybe research it? Cannot recall right now, but I have seen it before. Just contact the company in your area and tell them to explain their wireless INTERNET plans to you.

How will one improve on her sklls if her errors are not pointed out. I would inform her in writing that you are starting a new policy effective ---- that weekly, you will randomly check 10 reports which must be at 99.5% quality. OMG - these are psch reports. I used to have nagging mistakes of stuff I just learned wrong or that was wrong in the spellcheck - like mmhG, so I made macros for them, and like hte = the everytime I time it. Stuff she types a million times should be macro'd. Tell her the doc is stricter on you, so you have to be stricter or her.

The software is from HELL and goes down quite often.
There are so many ifs, ands or buts in the accounts to get an IM is a good thing but no one was ever on IM who could actually help on the ifs, ands or buts. Then if the software froze or became "corrupted", you need to get a tech to download it again or check your computer to see what's up. Techs do not work after 5 so you needed to "write a ticket" requesting tech support to call you and hope that they would get back with you the next day so you could work again. Sometimes they did and sometimes they didn't. That's a pretty bad way to earn a living if you are dependent on OSI income.

I have wireless but hold a direct line of sight to tower only 1 mile away. Mountains could block signal. The only way you could know would be to take the laptop there and see if the signal holds. Are there any neighbors there that might be using it too? That's your best "test." Ignore poster below who talks about router. The initial signal is sent from the tower TO your router, router takes care of wireless internet INSIDE house, not outside. If you do go wireless router inside house, buy one with a speed booster. I have connects of 100.0 mbps routinely.

Is anyone watching Hell's Kitchen? If you think MT is hard, watch this show. The abuse of the
wannabe chefs is second only to MT abuse by the nationals. Really, to work in a kitchen in a restaurant seems the hardest job ever pressure-wise. I say this after watching "The Restaurant" and "Hell's Kitchen" reality TV. I wonder what the pay is to subject yourself to this agony and pressure.

You clearly stated in your post that you ship the kids off to camp all day, and they're TIRED AT NIGHT!! You know exactly what you said. You said it as a PERK - AS IN GREAT! They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed! You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT. Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you. Why have kids at all? When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.
I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.
So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.
Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.
I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.

I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated. Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie. :-)
But, as someone pointed out, to each his own. If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that. I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."

Why didnt your ancestors stay wherever they came from? What a horrible statement. We are all descendant from another country, unless we are American Indian. I know two doctors who live here and do help in their home countries. One from South Africa, the other from Mexico. One goes back each year to hold clinics where they operate on children.

Pressure was put on Nixon from the courageous and so right protestors to end our participation in a wrong war a war we were in because we didnt want the South Vietnamese to become communist, which happened anyway. The protests at Kent State were peaceful except some students started throwing rocks at inexperienced guardsmen. The guardsmen were called before the protest to keep calm on campus, which is something that should never be done and was never done before. You do not turn military against student protestors. You do not use military to guard Americans, that is what police are for. Only during Martial Law can you have military take over American streets. We have a right to protest. When the students saw the guardsmen, some threw rocks. The guardsmen then shot their guns. Trust me, this is how it went. It is burned into my psyche.
