When I was at Heartland...
I always found it odd that system/server issues would arise at the beginning of a payperiod and then you would have to work extra just to make up those lines! Really,

I think they had control to do those tech issues, because at the end of the month (billing time) they would offer a crazy bonus - looked good on paper, but the accounts were terrible!

Not to mention not being paid for a tech issue that were HIS's fault!!
Heartland
MQer - Would the person's name be Colette? I have been there, if you decide to go to HIS, watch your back. Believe it or not, MQ is better!
Heartland
I have read the board on Heartland and was wondering if there is anyone out there that likes this company?
Heartland
Sorry, HIS caused brain damage for me - her name is Colleen - I personally met her and she is a backstabbing b....ch!
Heartland

Wondering if anyone has heard anything new on the sale of Heartland. I currently work for them and at times I can be worried about my job. I work as usual, but cannot help for wondering how safe my job is.

I seen a couple things on Heartland even some old ones saying they were over seas owned, which is not true. They are owned by HCR Manor Care and based out of Toledo, Ohio.

Which Heartland?
The one in Oklahoma? Heartlandtranscription.com?
Heartland Transcription

Anybody work for them?  Any info on them would be appreciated.  thanks!

what happened to heartland?
I am an ex-heartland employee. Manor Care, who owned heartland, tried for nearly 2 years to sell it off because it was losing money for Manor Care. Finally sold out to an Indian company, and yes, everyone was laid off on the US side. A lot of the MTs, QAs, went to MQ. I was a QA and still am for the Q. When I read this stuff about CBay, I get the biggest sense of deja vu. It's nearly the same scenario, the same untruths being told, and it will be those who have their heads in the sand that will be shocked when the end comes. Make plans for the near future, don't get caught unawares, and have faith in yourselves--there are companies out there who will take you, no problem. Just be prepared.
Heartland - the heart of the industry!
Heartland is the best company I've ever worked for in the transcription business.

Check out mtjobs.com, find a post for them, you'll be really glad you did. They are fair, always there to help you. They have great benefits, and one of the few companies where you are not just a number at the other end putting out reports. When I call them, they answer. No automated lines. When I have a problem? They fix it, right now. It doesn't get much better than that. :0)

I don't work for Heartland, but the line
about the average age of a US transcriptionist being 59 years old is a BUNCH OF CRAP for having to send work overseas.  What a crock!!!
Heartland's GEMSTAR is awful...
...it's obvious no real live living, breathing MT ever had anything to do with the design of this software.  It is very slow so if you were being paid production pay, you'd be losing money using this gem of a piece of software.
Heartland - lack of work
Heartland never has any work for the US team, know why? They have to keep the Indian MTs overseas busy! Management (former MQ drop outs) try to paint a pretty picture for MTs that the software will get better or the clients are okay. Well the system is horrible and the clients are 110% ESLs!
Heartland is finally purchased...

Spheris purchases Heartland Information Services.. more to come later in the week

Heartland Information Services

I have read all about the difficulties with MQ here.  Anyone here have any experience working for Heartland Information Services.

Thanks

the Heartland Layoffs happened before.....sm

and as long as we have MTStars.....it will not become a thing of the past so quickly!!!  Thanks MTStars!!!

no, I think it's Heartland Information Services
www.heartlandis.com

If it's the Heartland I'm thinking of (and I think it is), last year they fired all their US MTs in one big swoop and sent all the work to India.
Good Luck Keeping Your Job at Heartland!!!

I think I have had enough! Yes, I admit, I currently work for Heartland and truly thought they wanted a domestic team. I didn't think much of the managment changes and truly thought we (domestic MT team) would be okay even if HIS was sold, well think AGAIN!

We are being fed a load of crap from the new President (Dennis Paulik)!! The below was sent to me annoynomously. I think that all US-based MTs for HIS should up and leave! Why wait, obviously, he has "other" intentions that don't include us - the USA TEAM!!!!!!

Heartland Information Services, Toledo, Ohio, which employs 1,400 to 1,500 foreign transcriptionists in three cities of India, may help explain why. Dennis Paulik, Heartland's vice president of sales and marketing, says that HIPAA standards are applied to all transactions, including anything outsourced. The company leases private, transoceanic lines, so all transactions are encrypted from the time the information leaves the hospital, to the moment it is dispatched from Heartland's U.S. offices to a transcription center in India, until processing is complete and the medical transcript goes back to the hospital.

Paulik says he hears time and again that there aren't enough U.S. transcriptionists, and that those who do still work here are an aging population--the average trained American transcriptionist's age, he says, is about 59 years. It's one reason his company was formed, he says.

"You're going to have a growing need, and fewer transcriptionists," Paulik says. "It reinforces that point that people have just got to go overseas."

Oh yeah? Go to company board and read about Heartland's layoffs.

it's really not fair to tell people to get into this business when it's obvious there's big trouble and the S--- is just starting to hit the fan...

MQ direct deposit
On Friday if payday on Saturday.  On Monday if pay day Sunday.  .
MQ direct deposit
As a rule, when the pay date is on Sunday I usually have my deposit in the account on Saturday a.m. The last pay date I think fell on a Saturday and that was deposited on Friday a.m.
They don't do direct deposit for IC's.
Nobody at SS answered my e-mails.
Direct Deposit
Independent contractors cannot receive direct deposit typically as a standard course of events, I am told, because that would be treating them like an employee, and not appropriate for the IRS and accounting purposes.
Direct deposit
I would love direct deposit!  I have worked for many services as an IC and most offer it but currently do not have it.  I miss it so much!
no direct deposit either...this is what I do...
I'm an IC for 2 companies that don't provide direct deposit and I just found that waiting on snail mail to bring my check was too undependable.  I now have my checks sent overnight.  Sure I have to pay for the charge of it but it is worth knowing when my money will be here.  Most companies will do this if you ask them to and they just deduct it from your pay.  I don't know your situation but I am able to use this expense on my taxes each year, so I definite feel that it is worth it.
Direct deposit - do you have it?

At my present job, I do not have direct deposit.  I really miss it.  It's frustrating me.  A small thing, yet irritating!

Do you have DD?

Direct Deposit
I also have direct deposit. I get paid every other Thursday, and by Thursday morning my check is in my account. That's just my experience. Maybe you should call the company and see if there's a problem. Has it ever been late before?
If you get direct deposit set up
(if your company offers it), then you won't have to wait for snail mail. But no company is going to predict what day your check is going to hit your mailbox. Pay day is the day checks are cut and sent out.

No direct deposit, huh?

direct deposit??
I have never done this kind of work before and signed up to work with a lady from qmedet solutions.  She wants my bank account number to direct deposit my check.  I am leary of doing this because she didn't check references or want to see a resume.  We emailed back and forth, she called me to explain the job and then requested my personal information.  Is this the way everyone works?
direct deposit??
I have never done this before and wanted to know if this sounds legit.  I placed my job information on a site for MTs.  I received an email from a lady who works for qmedet solutions saying that she wanted to hire me.  We emailed back and forth about whether I was interested and then she called me to discuss the job.  She then emailed me forms to fill out my personal information including my bank account number for direct deposit.  I just want to make sure that this is normal because she didn't get any personal references from me nor did she request any kind of resume.
MQ direct deposit on Friday, is NOT
correct! Is paid on the 10th and 25th, if those dys fall on a Sat/Sun, then your check does not go in until the following Monday...how it is & how it's always been.

As other's advised, check the 2005 payroll schedule, maybe print it out for your referrences?
About offering direct deposit.
Klaar is getting ready to offer direct deposit (again). Oh boy, gotta wonder if they formerly offered it, then canceled it, and are ready to offer it again (soon).
Did you know that not everyone can get direct deposit for their businesses? sm
There are a lot of factors, and banks will not take on a small company. They want to provide services for bigger companies that have a lot of money going through their accounts.

I deal with one of the biggest banks in the country and they will not let me do direct deposit until we deposit over $100,000 per month or it is not worth it for them.

The smaller banks in my area do not even offer it.

All I can do is get checks out on time and correctly.
EVERY MTSO CAN get direct deposit
There are many payroll management companies that offer this service for a small fee. Do a Google search for ADP, Paychex, Gorrie Reagan.....THere are several.

Even if you cannot get it done via your bank, there are many other ways it can be done. Having to wait on a paycheck to come in the mail is very difficult for most of us. I also spend $50 a month to have my check overnighted. I am currently looking to move to a company who DOES offer direct deposit.
Used to be by check, now direct deposit.

Love my direct deposit. nm

I wouldn't know what to do without direct deposit...
The money is always there when it's supposed to be and if you want to go on vacation or something you don't have to worry about getting your paycheck and going to the bank. I have never had a problem with DD and I have been using it for 12+ years.
Love direct deposit, too! sm
I've had it for the last 10 years, everywhere I have worked. Never a problem. I'm more leery of getting checks in the mail now, since some of my mail comes opened, like my check stub today. I do most of my banking and bill paying online now. I feel safer with that than the mail anymore.  Hubby used to have direct deposit at his old job but not at this job. With direct deposit, it's usually posted when I get up in the morning. I have to wait to go to the bank when he gets home from work around 4:30.  What a pain.
Question about direct deposit
I have direct deposit with my company.  We get paid the 15th and 30th.  Today is the 21st and I still don't have a deposit.  I thought the money goes in quicker with direct deposit.  Before I complain, just wondered if this was normal.
For anyone who has ever done direct deposit, why does it sometimes come right away in the morning an
odd but I have never done DD so dont really understand how it is routed through the fed and the bank.
Nope. I had direct deposit and
It was in the bank 2-3 days before actual payday. I worked for them almost a year. BTW, Nuance (American company) bought them out over a year ago.
What does Indymac have to do with your MT direct deposit? sm
Sounds more like they want to hold on to their money a few extra days.
In my state, you can attempt to deposit the
try that, so if it bounces 3 x, she have 3 bounced check fees to pay, rather than 1. HAHAHA
In future, require a deposit sm
equal to the cost to replace the equipment and put in a contract that the deposit will be returned within 2 weeks of receiving equipment in good condition.  Anyone who truly intends on returning the equipment will have no problem paying a deposit, especially when the terms are in writing.
in your bank account by direct deposit OR

just showing up in ipay?  Mine says assistance with verification available at ________ . . . . THIS IS NOT A CHECK -- void non-negotiable.

Is the money in your bank today 09/02/2005?

I'm going to deposit mine. However, I make this suggestion...sm
to those who are worried this may preclude you for further settlement money. Above your signature on the back of the check, or even below your signature, write something in to the effect "This is NOT to represent final disposition of future settlement" or something to that effect. That way, there is legal documentation that you are not signing away any future rights to anything you might be owed in case of a larger settlement.
Time to sign up for direct deposit.

Only way to go.  My mail"girl" delivers usually at 11:30 a.m., but on her days off I don't get the mail sometimes until after the bank is closed.

If your company doesn't offer direct deposit, the I guess the only thing you can do is sit and wait for the mail.  Frustrating, isn't it?

MTSOs who DO NOT offer direct deposit
MTSOs who do not offer direct deposit...please consider contacting a company like ADP or Paychex or your bank in order to find out that offering such a service is not very expensive. I was offered a job by a company in MA and did not accept it when I found out they did not offer direct deposit.

Many MTs are struggling financially. This would be a tremendous help (direct deposit) and also make your company more appealing to potential employees/ICs.
No true. ICs can have direct deposit but it is called
an ACH transfer. Same thing. Kind of like when you pay a bill on line from your bank.

We have both ICs and employees, and we cleared this with our lawyer and the IRS.
LOL! You forgot direct deposit info. ;-) nm

most companies are using direct deposit now I thought. (nm)
