I heard a lot of good things about them and am looking to purchase a laptop, so your information
is very helpful to me. Thank you!
has anyone heard of x-press transcription
i took a test with them last week and hadn't heard anything. any info?
thanks
I heard a lot of bad things about
Spheris. I work for MQ and am very upset about what they are doing to the MTs, thought about applying at Spheris, until I talked to some who went there. Now I think they sound just as bad as MQ, so will look for something else.
I have heard bad things about TNI
Not sure of the other one. TNI is a MA and PA setup whom I've heard has preferential treatment for certain people and you may end up with the junk work.
I've heard a few things about N/T
From a fan list I'm on. Michelle is gone, gone, gone. Thank God! Everyone follows to Hollywood. I believe they'll show the baby. I actually just started watching last season with bits and pieces in between. I caught up watching episodes on line. I didn't see that episode, but I heard about it. I'm in the process of getting the complete series on DVD through Ebay.
And feel free to email me personally if you'd like. I don't want to bore anyone with tales of N/T.
That is one of the strangest things I've ever heard.
Only 1 USB port on a *new* computer? Did you ask how many ports it would have when you ordered it? I just can't imagine this.
That is one of the strangest things I've ever heard.
Only 1 USB port on a *new* computer? Did you ask how many ports it would have when you ordered it? I just can't imagine this. Wait ... is it a laptop or a tower?
I've heard of things like the "boosteroo" mentioned above ... however...
as far as I can that works only with headsets ... I have the same problem and did some googling and as far as I can tell "powered speakers" may be the simplest answer ... they run about $50 a pair and have a ??woofer -- anyway it's a box that's plugged in to power and to the computer sound output --- the speakers then come off that.
Target (and probably everyone else) carries these. I suspect teens and gamers and music mixers "need" these to "fill the room with sound"... Amazon has some computer speakers that are over $300)
I have terrible TMJ and cannot wear my headset all the time ... the sudden loud noises (like beepers brought up to chest level) just kill my ears.
Good anatomy book is "Gray's Anatomy" (Running Press), soft cover, and inexpensive
Two good things
Quitting the smokes and exercising. You'll be a new woman!
Other good things to put in sm
I like to put in little cubes of cheese instead of shredded cheese. And I also add pepperoni and/or salami pieces (slices that have been quartered). Some people add cucumber, but I don't really like it in my pasta salad.
Other good things to add
My roommate and I made the Salad Supreme recipie but instead of Italian dressing we used ranch and I browned some frozen meatballs and cut those in half along with the green pepers and tomatoes and it turned out great!!!!
All Good Things
Wow! I have not thought about that way to transcribe in years. THOSE were the DAYS we got REAL LINE COUNTS!You are so lucky to find someone who still uses it. They are showing you that you are worth the money they pay you (unlike the platforms today).
You are welcome. Good things are just around the corner.
I have been where you are now. It is not fun, it is very upsetting and frustrating, but things will come your way soon. There are many accounts out there, you just need to find the right ones. All you need is one, and the rest will come by "word of mouth".
My advice is to just call and ask if they made a decision and if it is not you, then just thank them for their time and ask if it is okay if you check back with them periodically to see how things are going.
Good luck to you.
You mention some things you are not good at doing, but
try to think of something you may be good at. Not everyone on the outside is cruel and backstabbing. It sounds like you need to get out more and mingle. It is not healthy to spend hours in front of your computer and not interact with others except online. Do you have friends you socialize with? Sounds like the MT work at home is not going well for you. Don't give up on yourself. I hear your pain. Been there myself. It may be time for a new beginning. You are never too old for anything. Change your thoughts, and you will change your life.
I have heard both good and bad--and I work there.
I am a recent transplant due to the company I was working for, TRS, being acquired by Transcend on April 1. No fooling. So far, so good....
If I remember correctly, according to their website, they require 5 years of acute care experience--which, when I was looking for a job, I did not have, and therefore they would not even let me test. And now they've got me anyway. Go figure.
My own experience has been fine so far, but I am still working under my former TRS supervisors, on the same accounts. Others' mileage may vary.
Please feel free to e-mail if you think I can answer any more questions. I am crankybeach at yahoo dot com.
thanks!!! good website - learned new things
YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!! Good things happen to those who have the patience (I am not one of them)!!!

Good reasons to get more things worked out -
and in writing before accepting the job offer. I would work one weekend a month for average pay, two if the weekend pay was better. But not every weekend. Same goes for Friday nights. I prefer at-home to in-house environment-wise, but at-home pay is the pits, unless you're willing to work 16-hour days, 7 days a week, which is even worse than what you're doing now. I can't retire, either, even under the best of circumstances. But right now I'm having trouble just eating. I don't get paid 'til Friday, and my fridge has nothing in it except ice cubes.
How's Medispell? ive heard there good for the price.
thx
Anyone heard anything good or bad about Tigerfish Transcribing? nm
If it is Accustat Carolinas..Yes that's true..among the other not so good things.

Good things take time. (this is addressed to OP, BTW) My first 15 years or sm
so of MT was without the benefit of using an expander. When Expanders became the norm, I was reluctant to try, thinking that it would be more cumbersome than by not using it at all. Was I surprised and pleased I had ventured into the Expander world.
Since you're at home you can add entries on your free time, even if you do 5 or 10 at a time, when there is no pressure on you. Start out with expanders for "the patient," "-year-old," the names of your doctors, anything that is repetitious. You will be surprised how much time this will save you. My initial expander, PRD, actually calculated saved Keystrokes and productivity. Back then I was saving 30%!
The expander is especially helpful for those crazy terms that are hyphenated or have camel caps, those that I always had to look up to check myself. Create your brief form by just using straight lowercase, for instance, duoneb for Duo-Neb (or d-n).
Speed will come, don't worry. Good luck to you!
(Posted in the wrong place--I always do that!) This is in response to OP.
going on my 17th year of it and feeling good about things sm
still loving it just as much. I work for a hospital and they just sent us home to type so everything is new again, new system, new challenges. I need to be challenged or I become bored, so enjoy things at the moment.
sorry, not in Kansas. PA is where I heard of a good job opening (near pittsburgh)
There's MDI in Maryland and Florida. I've heard good about both.

What I think is so sad is that people may give up good jobs to go there to find out these things all
to late. The newbies can learn and use MQ and move on which they do but of course the clients suffer then with all the people learning on them but this is what MQ causes and when they lose clients with poor quality or people that just throw out work then they caused their own problems. You cant keep good MTs with no work I dont care what incentives you offer because they mean nothing with no work ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I wish people would understand that when MQ hires them.
oh good grief. Haven't we heard enuf of this? Educated people are just

Are you willing to give any info? Did you work for them? Thanks!
Where's the press release?
?
We should all send this to the Associated Press too,
which would be published in newspapers across the whole country.

Press the FN key and Scroll (next to F12)

Of course not, the press release has already been released...sm
and it's all over the local news. Couldn't even tell my family until the press release went out. Actually, couldn't even tell my coworkers before the press release went out. Thanks for your concern, but I'm well versed in security, etc.; particularly this past week.
I wish we had a big button we could press that went BZZZZZZTT!!

There is an Associated Press article in today's sm
paper about increasing car sales in India. The Indian people are enjoying higher wages and are now able to purchase cars. Car makers are scrambling to get pieces of this new, juicy pie.
I wonder how long it's going to take before sending our work to India is not cost effective for the MTSO anymore. The Indian MTs won't be able to live on their 2 cpl anymore and will need more, and more. It's going to be interesting to see this evolve.
There's hope for us!
just press the Ŗ" button to slow it down
The "3" key speeds it back up
Hold Shift and press F3 twice
F3 cycles through sentence case, uppercase, then all lowercase.
Sent It to New York Times and Associated Press
Send this or your own letter. Let us know if anyone gets a response.
I sent it to 2 staff writers for the Associated Press plus...
Forbes Magazine, 60 Minutes, USA Today, Washington Post, NY Times, and a couple of others. The Editor who e mailed me did not know I was an MT but that's okay - you investigate one offshored industry, you investigate them all. I asked him to check into any credible sources he had. You may have noticed in my letter it constantly said, "See what you can find out."
You can still highlight your word and press Alt-T-A to... sm
get to the Autocorrect dialog box in 2007. Your highlighted text is already in the With box. Just type your abbreviation and tab to the OK button and hit Enter. A lot of the old shortcuts still work even though the menus are no longer on the ribbon.
accutype, x-press transcription, Medquist
Help! Need some info please. I have been an MT since 1992 first in a clinic setting, and now in hospital since 1996. I have been doing Radiology transcription and love it. I have been looking for an at home job for the past couple of months and have been offered a couple positions. I currently get paid by the hour and have no idea how to convert my work to line count. I have been offered .075, .08 and .09 no spaces? Anyone type PET scans and know what the line count is on a report like that? They told me they would give me 9 reports and I would be busy all day which I can't believe because I can usually type 25-30 reports an hour of MR, CT, US, MN and general x-ray.
Thanks, TLB
Any current info on X-press Transcriptions?
I was told that I passed their test and was sent an IC contract out, but just wondering about any good/bad experiences before I sign for sure. Also, how are the pay and accounts? Thanks!
Press Alt + F9 to toggle on field codes.
Or go to tools, options, and check field codes on the view tab.
You need to press shift key and caps lock. You may
need to do it a couple of times. I transcribed for many years and never had a problem, but the last couple of years I have this happen about once a month. It isn't a malfunction of the keyboard - it is user error :).
Ordered from Medical Arts Press catalog

Moderator, it is not copyrighted, it's a press release, sent to me via email. However,
the link is included and can be viewed at MTIA's web site. EVERYONE should read this....it affects our future. I do not doubt the hundreds of resumes MTSOs receive today in response to job postings will dwindle to a handful. The entire credentialing process is geared to one way only, and that is lining the pockets of those who have led the way to destroy a once honorable profession. Why would anyone want to go through the process to earn a substandard living today, certification not withstanding? Does anyone think the MTSOs are going to pay a much higher premium for a credentialed MT? Come on...get real. If they are outsourcing today to make more money, does anyone really think they will bring those jobs back and pay EACH AND EVERY credentialed MT a livable wage, money out of their pockets?
www.mtia.com...if the link does not work.
