Ok, simple things now for Dell printer small print
One time before had this problem, rebooted, unhooked the printer and the printer reverted to where the print had been before, not working this time. I have no idea how to fix. I could go in and look at different things but what then? I don’t know exactly what I am looking for or at. I miss my printer. Besides getting another printer, any other easy suggestions?
You can print a list in the print dialog box. sm
You'll find the option in the print what section. You can probably find a macro that lists them all in a document with a web search. Otherwise, you can only print them.
I have both a Dell Latitude Laptop and a Dell Dimension desk top PC and bought both...
off of Ebay. The laptop I paid $300 for had Windows XP and works great. It wasn't wireless, but they sent me a PCI card with it and it works fine. The desktop PC has XP on it as well and I paid $250 for it. Both have Pentium IVs. Both work great for work. I have no complaints and I feel like I got a great deal both times out on Ebay.
Company provides a Dell for work, I have a Dell for personal use, too.

Dell customer service is overseas. I have had a Dell, a
Toshiba Satellite, and an HP. The Dell was a piece of junk from day 1. The HP hard drive crashed after 4 to 5 years, but otherwise no problems. I bought a Toshiba about 6 months ago and it is okay, nothing special. I was looking at the Sony Viao and the salesman said that some laptops are made to be portable, but that the Sony was not one of them, but the Toshiba was. My keyboard also has a numerical pad on it, but it throws the other keys off a bit, so when I'm in a portable mode and don't have room for an external keyboard it really slows me down. I have a Duo Core processor and notice no difference whatsoever in speed, the number of programs I can have open, etc. I have also noticed that even when I am not on battery power that every so often the battery is charging. I don't know if this is a defect or something that is supposed to happen, but I need to investigate it.
I've had two dell laptops and 5 Dell PCs. Here's the thing...
Make sure you get the extended warranty, again, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. And, here is why.
My first laptop went out on my, though it was a couple of years old. Because I had the extended warranty, a service tech came to my house, replaced motherboard, hard drive, heat sink, and keyboard. He was able to back up everything first and restored it once all the new stuff was in place.
One of my PCs kept giving some weird blue screen error and I couldn't get to go even in safe mode. I called up Dell, told them the problem, they looked up my extended warranty and they sent someone out to repair it.
Overall, I have been happy with Dell products. The only drag is that everything Dell sells regarding accessories is proprietary and you have to order it through Dell. No generic accessories will work. My suggestion is if you decide to buy a Dell laptop, make sure you get the car power supply and you might even get a 2nd regular power supply because I have been known to leave town and forget the power supply at the house. Now, I have everything in my laptop bag for when I go out of town and can just throw my laptop in the bag and know everything is there.
Lastly, some Dell laptops require a special aircard to connect to the internet. I ended up getting a 2 cabled USB air card and I'm glad I did because 2 USB plug ins give better reception than one.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I'm happy to help.
I don't like Dell. I bought a Dell laptop and it
was a piece of junk, so I'm not the one to ask if you should buy a Dell. I'd get at least double that processor speed. My computer is about 10 months old and I have 5 times that, which means that there is probably something faster out now, or soon will be. It is more than I need for work, but I also use computer to download music/pictures, and a bunch of other stuff. The Dell I had had 650 mHz and it was slow and that was almost 6 years ago. You may have to customize anyway to get XP unless you buy one previously owned, which you can also buy from Dell. It is always a good idea to buy bigger than you need currently just to allow for updates to any software or new software you may add. You need to also think about tech support. I know Dell has tech support in India, which can be extremely frustrating. I don't know that other computer companies don't offshore their tech support, but that would be a question I would ask and find out if there is a locally authorized dealer to handle warranty repairs or if you need to send off the computer. I would not recommend a Gateway computer and I would not recommend any computer that has a Celeron processor. They tend to be in all the lower end computers.
Buy a Dell!! You can't go wrong with a Dell but
I bought an Emachines and had trouble with it from day one. I returned it, as the store I bought it from a six month return policy, so I returned it after about five months. I bought a Dell two years ago and have had no problems since!! Buy a Dell, you won't be sorry!! :)
I am not a Dell lover. My Dell has been
a lemon. I just replaced mine with a Toshiba Satellite and I have seen a few others here recommend this. Dell's customer service is in India. The only thing I dislike about my Toshiba is that because it also has a number keypad the shift key is in a different position than I'm used to and I end up deleting and retyping when I use the laptop keyboard. I normally use an external keyboard, but I travel a lot and try to work on the road and just don't have space for an external keyboard.
Where did you hear that everything you buy for a Dell has to be from Dell?
I have LOTS of peripherals on both my laptop and desktop Dells and they certainly didn't come from Dell. You've been misinformed.
I love my Dells.
And do NOT print for them! this is why...sm
you need to just send the stuff back to their office. Again don't be driving around doing the delivery thing. Explain that HIPAA doesn't want you keeping the reports any longer than necessary to do billing, so after you bill, you need to delete the reports. They need to have them in their office, to archive and keep a back up copy in case the office floods and ruins their charts. When you send them back, they can change the little things that the doc dictated wrong themselves...they don't have to wait until you have your next delivery run. So let them mess with the dumb sticky paper...or better yet, do a cost analysis that shows it is just as good to stick it in the chart with tape than to buy that paper. That way, they will be impressed with your business acumen...
wow I need to print all of this
thanks so much - no I would never work if I was at DD boyfriend's on who knows what network. I was just going to see if it worked. If I am at house with cable internet it should be as secure as mine. I don't think I would every try working at a Starbucks. The place I vacation actually has high speed internet so I could connect directly to that. Cell phone coverage is spotty there at best, so air card would probably be worthless. Thanks again - I am beginning to understand what I was afraid I would never grasp.
I use ShortHand. I used to print out all of my
expansions and tape the pages all over my desk, but it didn't help. What did help was finding out from someone here that ShortHand has a suggestion box that displays your expansions for you. I remember the first letter or two, glance down quickly to see what the ending was, hit the corresponding function key, and bam! three keystrokes to faster transcribing. Instant Text has a similar feature, but I couldn't switch over to it after learning on Shorthand.
how did you get your print to be so small?
if you are for real, your best advice is read this board and take good notes.
To print list
You can print a list of all of the "autotext" by opening word, FILE, PRINT (or ALT F, P) and in bottom Lft corner in the "Print What" section select "Autotext entries" and OK. If you have a lot this will print a lot mine would do about 150 pages.
BE AWARE - This will print everything. You can print just a list of the AUTOCORRECT entries but you have to creat a macro which is not hard. This too however will print all of the autocorrects, like when it automatically changes "adn" to "and". But, if you have to have this list you can just run through and delete the normal corrections and keep a list of your entries.
If you want to email me I will be more than happy to send you the instructions and the macro. It was simple to do, just a matter of making sure the macro info was in the right spot.
Save and print
I print and deliver, save on hard drive for one year and then on CD or zip forever it seems. Finally went through and threw out files from 10 years ago.
HELP! HP Deskjet won't print
This has happened to me before but I do not remember what I did to fix it. Whatever I send to print will just sit there and forever say its printing but doesn't. The scanner and copier works on the *&# thing. I have tried rebooting, unpluging, etc. Nothing. HELP
If you have the capability print out
a few reports and if you can go back and listen to the dictation while following along in the report.
I started a job several years ago, having had very minimal ESL experience. The very first day they gave me ALL ESL dictators, some very challenging. I was in tears and ready to quit after the first day. The MTSO told me that I really did very well and I printed out corrected reports. After relistening I could clearly understand the dictation when following along with my sample. I couldn't believe that I couldn't hear parts of it the first time.
Doctors slur, they eat while dictating, yawn, they misspell words. As you gain experience you will know what the doctor should be saying, which should help you decipher the dictation. Leaving a blank isn't a bad thing, and it is better than guessing. If you learn from your mistakes that is good. If you continue the make the same mistakes, leave the same blanks, etc. then that isn't a good thing.
Do the bet you can. If you need help ask for it. It sounds like you need to talk to your supervisor and/or QA to get some feedback
Correct. You would not have to print it out
before faxing. You would just fax the document.
There is a Print Screen Button..
at the top line of your keyboard. Press it and then go to your Windows paint and > Edit > Paste it there.
Capture/Print Screen
Another option is to hold down the "ALT" key and then press the "PRT SCR" key, then open a document (Word or whatever) and Click "Paste"... this will insert a picture of the screen into your document, which you can then save for future reference. Hope this helps. /bah
Sometimes you can pull them up in the expander but not print from there.

how do I print my shorthand entries
Anyone know how to print up all the entries in the dictionary?
TIA!
Sunny
Thank you MT stars for the beautiful print. I am going to have it
framed and hang it in my living room. I think you are doing a great thing with the Santa's House project, too.
How to print up Quickcorrect/words
In word perfect? I cant figure out how to print up my lists in QuickCorrect or QuickWords.
Please share, if anyone knows.
TIA!
What a sweetie you've got. Going to print out your
message & leave it laying somewhere so my hubby will see it :o) I'm 5' and with my chair all the way down, I have to sit on the front edge of the chair so I can reach my foot pedal. Killing my back & circulation !!
Was tickled to read the other replies. Really was beginning to wonder if I was about the only female left that was of short stature.
Just out of curiosity - where do you find clothes that fit?? I'm not only short, but small-boned, & finding it impossible to find clothes anymore that are "age-appropriate":o)
Yes there is a way to print your auto correct
There is a free download for a macro program that backs up your auto correct file. You can print it..save it..and restore your autocorrect file with it. I love it. I have 3 computers and I use this to keep all of them up to date with my auto correct entries.
I dont think I can post a link here on this board. If you email me at Loveyaheart@aol.com I will be glad to give you the link for the download.
I email it back, they print. -
So far they are running it off who knows in the future but to me it looks so weird having it go out on six pages of letterhead.
maybe corrupt print driver?
Hi,
If you are starting the fax process by printing to a fax printer, then chances are good the print driver has gotten corrupted. (Common with all print drivers.)
If this is the case, then (1) delete the fax-print driver from Control Panel | Printers and Faxes, and then (2) reinstall the print driver.
After install, send a test fax (not a real transcription) to see if the problem has been fixed.

The thing is though my fine print with ATT said it could not be used for
autodialing, dialing into the internet, commercial faxing, and one other thing. I can't remember what the other thing was but it wasn't anything I was using it for. They even listed those four things over and over, and I told them I didn't use it for any of those things. They also tried to tell me I was transmitting data over my phone line. I wasn't. I was dialing into a voice line. I got tired of arguing with them too. How can argue w/them when they keep saying you're dialing into the internet when you know you're not? I guess they have to lie about something, right, because they can't tell you you're using too many minutes if it's UNLIMITED. I just think it stinks. Hopefully it will work out for all of us!
I got a print out with color photos of my
colonoscopy integrated into the dictation. It's already here in the US
How do you print your expander list?
How do you print your whole ShortHand expansions? I knew once how to do it but cannot remember it. I was playing around with it earlier and actually lost one of my dictionaries for my current new account! I have a couple of other old accounts with useful expansions, but why did I have to lose this one! I was really cruising with my lines. How the heck does that even happen? I'm so upset about that but had to start over with putting everything back in it. I know I need to save it to backup, but still...
Thanks for your help!
Re office staff to print
No, the office staff are not allowed access to the 2 PCs and they still work with a handwritten appointment book as well as only fax facilities and no internet at work... this is the reason I have to cut & paste WP doc into Word and e-mail to doc's home e-mail so wife can e-mail the report. This is really a mess I have myself in... and Im starting to throw tantrums now! I corrected him yesterday morning on a mistake he corrected me and now its spite on his side to pay me back because how dare I take a printout from physician website with the correct spelling and show him his mistake - my reports gets marked like a school teacher grading it big circles with messages "I spelt this for you a few months ago, you should know it by now!!!" etc
How to print out Shorthand list?
I am trying to print off the words I have put in to shorthand, but I can't pull it up in Microsoft word. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? It is showing as a SPF file, whatever that is.
Print shorthand words
Try associating the file with something like WordPad. Right click on file, choose "open with", "choose program" and choose wordpad. You should be able to print it from that program.
how to print out shorthand list
I have the same problem. Mine comes up as an ACL file and when I right click to open with (Word pad, Word, or Adobe) I get jumbles boxes. Have any other ideas to help pring this list?
Thankx
How do I print what I have saved in PC Shorthand?

Are documents set to print getting hung up
.
To my knowledge, you can't print the physicians'....sm
list and I doubt they are in there by specialty, too. You can print the contents of your ESP file if you save it to your desktop and then print it. Hope this helps.
MS Word - print preview - sm
Don't know what I did, but when I "print preview" in a multipage document I now get two pages side-by-side instead of just a single page at a time.
If anyone can tell me how to change the setting, if that is what needs to be done, I would appreciate it.
Thank you
Software to auto-print files
"Isn't there some way to have the files print when I get them?"
Many offices voice this wish, and Emmaus is pleased to announce an affordable solution ($49).
When the office receives transcription (via email, ftp download, or PC Anywhere), they put those files into the folder they've told MPMonitor and Print to watch. These files can be Word documents or password protected zip files. MPMonitor and Print will unzip if necessary and print using the user's copy of MS Word.
Best wishes, Vann Joe Turner
my only problem with that was when I read the fine-print...
the company I was going to apply for, out-sourced some company to do the checks, and if I were to sign for the check they were entitled to even go so far as to contact my landlord, family, etc., to get information on me.
Of course I was told it was just a formality and it would probably never happen, but if I signed that, this third company could do that, whenever they wanted, and for whatever reasons.
Personally, I would rather be in control of my personal information as much as I can...not that there really is 'privacy' anymore.
Even though I trusted that company I wanted to apply for, I certainly had no idea who this company was they hired to do the checks...
PS - I also did the bankrupt thing in the past, and I could not be sure this company would not turn around and sell my information to my former debtors...I mean, who knows. I do not trust people, period.
Yeah, I read the fine print...sm
on the brochure AFTER I signed up with Bell South for unlimited long distance. It said something like it had to be voice to voice (I'm thinking not recorded voice). It's suppose to cost $20/month, but if I go over 5000 minutes, they will tack another $50.00 on my bill.
I was up front about why I wanted unlimited long distance when talking to Bell South's call center lady (from India), and she said it would be no problem. We'll see.
No, though my husband does use it to print out his work schedule for
but that is it. He has his own work laptop but no printer to it. Kids have my old computer to use for now but Santa is bringing a new one supposedly (Uncle and GPs say they are buying one, we will see).
Open your shorthand and the dictionary you want to print.
File menu, Print to File, save dictionary as text file. Open the text file in either Notepad or Word, then print. I always format mine into columns so as to not waste paper.
Read the fine print. Residential
long distance services, unlimited, state that is for residential calls, etc. The business plans state they are for businesses. What the are not allowing is a business rate long distance plan to be connected to a residential phone. And, of course, there is always the fine print "other restrictions may apply."
don't print for them. Send the file to their office...
you might as well start smart. Push the advantages of them having the file in their office. Doctor gave wrong physician name? No problem! They don't have to wait for you. They correct it in their own Word file. They need to archive their transcription. You however are required by HIPAA to only hold it long enough to do billing. So that is why you, smart business person that you are, send it to their office in a digital format.
1. Can anyone or everyone recommend a good medical spell checker that interfaces with Word? Stedman's
2. What about an Expander to work with Word? I know some use Instant Text, but at least one says she uses the Word Autocorrect feature. (I think.) Does the Word autocorrect hold a bunch....can you put whole reports into it...large capacity? I only use ShortHand because I have a Meditech account and Shorthand works with all Windows based applications. Some of the other ones didn't. Will defer this to other MT's.
3. You all mentioned that the docs usually supply their letterhead and to use plain copy paper for subsequent pages. Does the MTSO usually supply the paper or the docs? Same question with sticky paper...that sounds expensive!
Write a macro to put the letterhead into a header on the letters he dictates. Then they can use plain paper to print the whole file.
Think about whether he wants logs or not. They can be good (line count) but a pain. Not sure if you make any money off of it or not. Look for ways to streamline your billing, i.e. don't be telling him you will take off for the ones where he dictates his standard paragraph, etc. and make line counting a nightmare. Most of all, use what is already out there...i.e. why pay for a TASP when you can send stuff over the internet for free. Why DRIVE to deliver transcription when you can send it over the internet for free...get it?
inexpensive tips you gals can think of that can be gotten ready now besides the main transcriber? (Would want to wait on that to see which type the office uses.)
Now that I have the ball rolling, I am also going to contact the two MTSOs that I know locally and ask if they have any overflow. Might also send a sample psych report to my shrink and see if he can spread the word. Scary stuff, but you gals really helped! Thanks so much for all the encouragement!!
Export the glossary to a .txt file and print from there.
To do that (with IT open), right click over the phrases heading and select Importer. Then select the Workshop tab and Export.
There is alot of fine print to read
in order to receive the bonus. Many MTs don't stay long enough because these companies are usually deceiving. Think about it, if it were so easy to get $500, $1000, etc. everyone would be jumping at the chance. Don't bother, it's a smoke screen
They've put out one update since the original print.

Most ICs pay quarterly taxes. Go to the IRS website and print
off a form, send it in with taxes. IRS may send you some forms after that, if not you can pay as above.
