Have a 1996 Suburban, bought in 02/1999 with 64K miles - sm

now has 184K miles, still going strong. Paid $26K. Have gotten our money's worth on it. Just started making repairs here and there over the last 2 years, new fuel pump, new fitting from radiater to engine, a couple engine seals, water pump, cleaning of fuel injectors. Probably about $2K all together in the last 7 years we have had it, not bad I think, other than regular maintance stuff, i.e. brakes, tires, oil changes, air filters, engine belt, etc. Gets about 15 MPG, 18 sometimes. Thing is a tank and I love it. Had a Blazer before that, though I had to put a lot of $$$ into it over the years I had it (10), about 16 MPG---Going to run the Suburban into the ground, hope to get 250K miles at least out of it. Has a few tics now and then due to age but all in all is in great shape and runs well, and I have made a point of fixing things immediately engine-wise and cosmetically. Go GM, have heard the transmissions last a lot longer (mine is proof of that, 184K original transmission) my husband has a 1990 Ford F-250 that had its transmission rebuild at 90K miles. His truck now has 189K miles on it and shifts rough.

Used to own a Suburban, loved that truck. Have ridden in Ford trucks and SUVs

I've been dealing with AOL since 1996...
so U may be eligible! I don't think I've ever hated a company more...well...yeah. LOL
My hubbie had a massive stroke in 1996 and since then I have been the only income...sm
in our home. Our vehicles were repossessed on Christmas eve of that year and within 6 months of his stroke we lost everything. We had no car, no home, etc, but by luck insurance paid most of his medical bills, but our credit was shot. He has not been able to work since and I am an MT, so that probably tells you what type of money we are making. I am only telling you this because there is light at the end of the tunnel. You hubbie will be able to work again and it might take some time, but you will be able to get out of this mess. I would recommend a book by Dave Ramsey called "The Total Money Makeover" and he explains how to get completely out of debt no matter what your situation. He also has a daily radio program, you can go to his web site and find it, but he really has advice that can help you right now. I am not sure if you are a believer, but prayer right now if you are can really help to give you some peace. I really do understand where you are at and have been in your shoes. Believe me, it will get better. Please feel free to email if you need to talk.
It's no more 6/6/6 than june 6 1996 was. Nobody otherwise calls the year only by the last digit.

Had it done in 1999
It was such a miracle being able to see.  Had both eyes done, but one regressed, so ended up with monovision which works fine for me.  But hit that 50-something now and have cataracts.  Definitely do have dry eyes so use artificial tears whether in the office or at home.
I had it done in 1999 and

I'm glad I did.  I haven't had any problems other than the dry eye syndrome, so I use artificial tears every day.  I had both eyes corrected but the right eye regressed leaving me with mono-vision, so I didn't need glasses to drive or to read. By now though I do need reading glasses.

I worked for the "Q" in 1999 and had 11 yrs exp...sm
and was only making 7.5 cpl. That was after I had been with them for 8 years! I had many MT friends none of which made more than 9 or 10 cpl. Seriously, who are the companies paying this???
MTs have threatened this as far back as 1999. It never happens.
Just quit the job if you aren't happy there.

1999 Lincoln Navigator with 3rd row.....
Extremely roomy and quite comfy. Won't be getting a brand new one anytime soon because they are quite pricey.....I'll stick with the 1999 model for now!
Met through work, but we were 800 miles
apart.  He came for a visit 5 months after we started talking on the phone outside of work and he never left.  We were married 13 days later  - 17+ years ago.   There have been some rough spots, but closer now than ever before.
I am a few miles away from there. SIL parents

Walk. Two miles a day should do it.

I pay about 40.. plus tip. I would go within 2 miles of a Supercuts.

Diane, I'm in NY too --- 2 miles from WTC, but
keep in mind that living in NYC was one thing -- these are people that work at home for their hospitals and didn't know whatsoever! That I find just unbelievable!

Just curious - do you transcribe for a hospital or a service. Don't find too many transcriptionists that can afford to live in Manhattan on a transcriptionist's salary :)
We must be one of the lucky few!

I bought a wedge at Michael's for about 59 cents. Bought one for my SM
Lanier station so I could see the display and one for my keyboard.

Love it. Been using PCShorthand since 1999. Can't type without it. :) nm

No--I drive 12 miles 2 x a day (roundtrip) just to get them at the bus-sm
I only trust 2 neighbors (ages 40+) to help me when I need it, and that has only been 4 x in the last 3 years. When I was growing up most us were a bit nuts with driving, granted this kid may be quite responsible but why take the chance, you are only talking $3 a day in gas with a 15-mile round trip (7.5 one way), work an extra hour a week if the cost of gas is bothering you.
I would think that owning a vehicle with low miles is a plus - sm
at the end of that 5 years you own the vehicle, versus leasing you don't; and you would owe a huge chunk if you choose to buy it. After 5 years of paying a car off with low miles, you can choose to re-sell and get a better price because of the low miles (big selling point). So whoever fed you the line above is, I think, totally off the mark (or trying to lease you a car).
jonesboro. 80 miles from memphis.
!!
I live about 40 miles from Burnsville NC sm
next county over. If somebody can send me the original info, I will personally turn this into the Yancey County Sheriff's Department. Burnsville is a small town and she will not be hard to track. This kind of stuff goes on down here all the time and people get taken. I wonder if she is putting "work at home" ads for any other type of job out there. My guess is she is. I would love to see this girl pay for this one!

drove 80 miles round trip to work for $5/hr...sm

sitting in a metal folding chair at a folding banquet table, banging away on a Selectric in a room full of smokers. This was a service that would UPS cassette tapes out to your home when you started working from home. Obviously this was 25 years ago. After two weeks, the owner let me go and told me he couldn't make money off of me, even at $5/hour. But then I applied at the hospital for a radiology transcription position (because now I had experience!) and they hired me because I was the only one who would work on Saturdays. When I consider what I had to go through to break into the field, makes me laugh when I see newbies fresh out of school with no experience asking for 6 cents a line to work from home...I guess just understand you do what you have to do to break into the field. That goes for every job that is hard to get into.

Live in Fort Collins, 60 miles N of Denver, Beautiful!
You can email me and I will answer your questions.  I can't speak for those who live IN Denver, but I know you need to watch out for certain neighborhoods, as you do anywhere you live.  I have a sister who lives SW of Denver, in the Littleton area.  She lives it.  Kathy :)
I ordered a clamp-on one, inexpensive, from Miles Kimball or one of those places.

I browse the state boards (both MS and TN), but not much action.

Are you a remote hospital employee or work for MTSO?

Just bought two

Bought a desktop and a laptop a month ago.  The desktop had a problem with the CD drive not opening.  I called Dell and they promptly handled the situation.  The repair person called my home the following day to schedule an appointment.  He showed up on time, picked up after himself, etc.  Very polite and very professional.

My only complaints so far:  being on hold for 40 minutes before talking with a Customer Service rep and the young man I spoke with when my call finally was answered.  Where he was from -- I don't know, but he had a very thick accent and with my southern twang ears, he was quite difficult to understand.

Yes, I just bought one and the

service is TERRIBLE.  Can't understand us.  I had to keep repeating my questions, still they did not seem to understand English.  I will never, never, never buy a Dell product again.  I just got it yesterday.  The computer is okay, but the service is the pits.  They have such strong accents, didn't understand me, I had to keep repeating my sentences, talking very slowly.  They also were hard to understand.  I want to write Dell corporate and complain, but can't even find a place that is not in India to complain to.

After this experience, I am totally not worried about transcription going to India.  The quality must be so bad, after what I experienced, it will eventually come back.  Any company that outsources, the reports must be very poor quality.

LOL. My mom bought one of those when
it the the COOLEST thing!
i just bought

A Holmes Family Safe Portable Heater, mostly because it's kid-friendly.  So far so good.  If my house burns down, though, I'll let you know :)  j/k  It had a lot of good features and keeps my bedroom toasty, which is probably a bit bigger than your office.

I bought a little
flash drive when I bought my new computer. You just load the program onto it and plug it in to your new one and transfer. They're very inexpensive and USB. Very easy
I bought it new

Straight from AAMT in the shrink-wrap (I got a discount through my employer)..

I don't call it a typo when they refer to it wrong twice, as they do in this instance.  I call it a mistake!  And it makes me lose confidence in the rest of the book, as well as lose respect for the authors.

If people find it amusing - WHY?  I don't think its acceptable to just expect typos in every book you buy, because I know darn well people are PAID to edit copy before its published, and someone wasn't doing their job!  With fiction I can snort with disgust and move on.  But professional books should be accureate, considering it was written BY AND FOR an entire industry based on inherentt perfectionism regarding the written word and terminology!

I was forced to buy this book to supposedly hone MY skills, only to find THEIR skills are lacking.  This is the supposed bible of our industry!  I am referred to this book a zillion times in my company standards.  And if I cannot rely on it for accuracy, why yes, I am angry.  If you want to see me as a nutcase, that's your prerogative.

I posted this oriiginally so people could mark this error in their book instead of perhaps putting the BOS spelling n their spell checker, and get penalized for repeated errors as a result.  I was hoping others might post any additional errors they had found in this publication, and we could help one another in this respect.  Perhaps someone might take this post seriously enough to do so, and if they do, I appreciate it.

Yes bought it used. sm
The foot pedal is brand new.
just bought
myself Koss UR40 headphones. They look like DJ headphones...very, very comfortable and unbelieveable sound. I highly recommend them. I bought them at Radio Shack.
Just bought one...will let you know. (nm)

I know for a fact MQ has been bought out
I'm the one who bought it, and i've decided as the owner of MQ, you all get a life time supply of chapstick.  enjoy.
Interesting you bought this up. sm
So I'm sitting and typing the other day, all happy and cozy, and I feel the cat brush against my leg under my desk and lay across my foot.

And then I realize, I don't have a cat.

So I yank my foot very quickly but get it caught instead under the foot pedal, which I promptly kick clear across the room. Fortunately, it--and it's rudely detached cable--survived.

The "cat" turned out to be a detached piece of carpeting which I had glued to the side of my desk to keep me from knocking my knee. I'm sure my neighbors are still wondering where all the screaming came from...
